A century after Mark Twain’s death, Twain finally gets his wish to have the unadulterated and uncensored version of his autobiography published a hundred years after Mark Twain died.
The University of California will publish in November the first of three volumes of Mark Twain’s 500,000 word autobiography. According to Larry Rother of the New York Times, the fourth publishing of Mark Twain’s autobiography is unique in that it will be the first time Twain’s memoir will appear in its original form and, that it was Mark Twain, in 1906, who played a hand in the century long censorship of his autobiography.
“From the first, second, third and fourth editions all sound and sane expressions of opinion must be left out,” Twain instructed them in 1906. “There may be a market for that kind of wares a century from now. There is no hurry. Wait and see.”

Versions of the autobiography have been published in 1924, 1940 and 1959. But the original editor, Albert Bigelow Paine, was a stickler for propriety, cutting entire sections he thought offensive; his successors imposed a chronological cradle-to-grave narrative that Twain had specifically rejected, altered his distinctive punctuation, struck additional material they considered uninteresting and generally bowed to the desire of Twain’s daughter Clara, who died in 1962, to protect her father’s image.
Twain’s opposition to incipient imperialism and U.S. military intervention in Cuba and the Philippines, for example, were well known even in his own time. But the uncensored autobiography makes it clear that those feelings ran very deep and includes remarks that, if made today in the context of Iraq or Afghanistan, would probably lead the right wing to question the patriotism of this most American of American writers.
He is unsparing about the plutocrats and Wall Street luminaries of his day, who he argued had destroyed the innate generosity of Americans and replaced it with greed and selfishness.

ALAN “MONEY” MOLLOHAN ON SHORT LIST TO BE APPOINTED BY WV GOVERNOR MANCHIN TO FILL BYRD’S U.S. SENATE SEAT
West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin (D) speculates on who he might appoint to fill out the unexpired U.S. Senate term of Robert Byrd–until the special election that now appears set for this November.
He had the most to say about former state Democratic Party chairman Nick Casey. Casey stepped down as chairman last month while awaiting confirmation for a federal judgeship in West Virginia’s northern district.
It was Byrd who suggested Casey for the appointment to the federal bench, Manchin noted.
“I know he had the confidence of Sen. Byrd,” Manchin said of Casey. “I know the senator held him in the highest regard. For that reason, he would be a good appointment.”
Current state Democratic Party Chairman Larry Puccio – a former chief of staff for Manchin – also would be a good choice, Manchin said.
Other names on the short list?
Rep. Alan Mollohan (D-WV), who was beaten soundly in the Democratic primary in May; and, former Dem WV governor Gaston Caperton, who was head of the state 1989-97.
Among other reasons Mollohan was turned out by WV-1 Democrat voters was corruption and cronyism.
Manchin’s thoughts on Mollohan–according to Political Writer, Joselyn King–”"He has the experience. He knows the ins and outs of Washington. It’s a wonderful name to consider.”
One suspects that Manchin is being diplomatic in his assessment of a fellow West Virginia Democrat.
Others mentioned are Jim Spears, Manchin’s chief of staff and former WV director of Homeland Security; and, Anne Barth, a former aide to Byrd who ran against Rep. Shelley Moore Capito in 2008.
The recent Mel Gibson rant tape released by Radar proves, beyond a doubt, Mel Gibson is a misogynist. What the tabloids haven’t reported, news related to secret photos proving Mel Gibson beat up his ex-lover Oksana Grigorieva.
There’s more than one story related to the secret Mel Gibson rant tapes made by Mel’s ex-girlfriend Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva. Such as:
- Who released, or sold the tapes to Radar? Tapes which had been sealed by a judge on June 22nd. (Radar published a copy of a Mel Gibson rant on July 9th.)
-How long did Radar have the secret tapes before they released a copy, or a portion of the tapes to the public? (Radar reported they’d heard the tape on July 1st.)
-Were the secret Mel Gibson rant tapes part of an extortion plot recently alleged by Mel Gibson’s attorneys?
-Why did Oksana file assault charges five months after the alleged incident?
-Since Oksana had the ability and forethought to secretly record Mel’s rants, does Oksana have secret photos, photo evidence which would prove Mel beat her up?
On April 15, People Magazine reported Oksana and Mel Gibson had split:
Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva, his Russian musician-singer girlfriend and mother of their 5-month-old daughter, have split after over a year of dating, a source tells PEOPLE.
“They just drifted apart,” says a close friend of the couple of the amicable split. “They’re both working hard on their careers and trying to raise a sweet baby together. They’re still friends and they’ll both raise Lucia together.”
On June 26, TMZ reported details about the dual restraining orders filed by Mel and Oksana plus details related to the custody agreement regarding the couple’s daughter Lucia. TMZ also reported a judge had ordered the secret tapes to be sealed.
Sources connected with the couple tell TMZ Oksana regretted agreeing to the mediated custody settlement and wanted to limit or even exclude Mel’s contact with Lucia.
A week ago Friday, Mel’s representatives got a call from Oksana’s lawyer, saying Oksana would not allow Mel to spend time with Lucia on Father’s Day … something to which she had already agreed.
According to sources, at noon on Monday, Oksana’s lawyer called Mel’s rep and said she got a restraining order against him to stay 100 yards from her and couldn’t even see Lucia until a hearing in July.
The next day, Mel’s lawyer went to the judge and got the restraining order modified, allowing him to see Lucia — just like it was agreed before.
During the hearing, it came out that Oksana had secretly taped arguments she had with Mel. The judge ordered the tapes sealed and also ordered Oksana not to talk publicly about the recordings.
And, we’re told, the judge was extremely unhappy with Oksana’s lawyer for not revealing that there had been a mediated custody agreement in place.
According the TMZ, the secret Mel Gibson rant tapes had been sealed June 22nd.
Oksana Grigorieva has secret evidence against Mel Gibson in their explosive legal battle and she has stored it on a DVD, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.
Gibson immediately asked the court to seal Grigorieva’s DVD evidence and got an order prohibiting her from making it public, a source with knowledge of the situation told us.
The emergence of the apparent evidence comes days after the pair filed dueling restraining orders against each other. RadarOnline.com first broke the story that the Oscar winner had filed for a restraining order against Grigorieva.

“You look like a f***ing pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of n***ers, it will be your fault.”

In another tirade, Mel tells Oksana: “How dare you act like such a bitch when I have been so f**king nice.”
He warns, “I am going to come and burn the f**king house down… but you will blow me first.”
Radar:
A source close to the situation says Oksana claims she was forced to tape Mel after he made a series of death threats. The source says she hopes the recordings will be admissible in any potential trial.
“Oksana’s motivation for recording this was to show Mel how mean he was, and because she feared for her life,” said the insider.
What Radar didn’t report: The person who allowed Radar to listen to the tapes and whether any payola was involved. Or, a source who claimed Oksana had more than secret tapes, photographic evidence which proved Mel Gibson assaulted Oksana.
In the recordings , Mel told Oksana he would burn down her home, but not until after she performed oral sex on him. On tape, he says: “I am going to come and burn the f**king house down… but you will blow me first.”
“You’re an embarrassment to me,” Mel says at one point.
And in one of the most disgusting comments a celebrity has ever been caught making, Mel says on tape, “You look like a f** king pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of n***ers, it will be your fault.”
The emergence of the explosive evidence contradicts the couple’s public statements that their split was amicable.
On July 7, Radar revealed more “explosive” material on the secret Mel Gibson rant tapes. Also, Radar reported Oksana didn’t give them the “recording”:

Grigorieva’s lawyers “vehemently denied” she leaked the tapes and for the first time, RadarOnline.com can reveal Oksana did not release the recording to us.
The Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department Thursday said it is investigating actor and career-meltdown specialist Mel Gibson for alleged domestic violence.
“An investigation of domestic violence was launched by Malibu/Lost Hills station detectives … involving actor Mel Gibson and his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva,” read a statement released Thursday by the department.
The statement refers to an incident between the couple occurring on Jan. 6, 2010.

According to Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore, police began investigating after being contacted by Grigorieva. “The allegations were brought to our attention from the alleged victim,” he says. “We interviewed her on Monday. We were first contacted several days before that. When the investigation is completed, which could take up to a month, we will then turn the case over to the district attorney’s office for consideration, which is a routine procedure.”
In Radar’s “World Exclusive” report airing of would could be part one of their stash of the Mel Gibson rant tapes, Radar didn’t reveal who gave or sold them the secret tapes.
On July 9, the same day Radar released the secret Mel Gibson rant tape People Magazine published Mel Gibson Accuses Ex-Girlfriend of Extortion.
Despite a sheriff’s investigation into claims that Mel Gibson assaulted ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, the actor is confident he’ll be cleared of any wrongdoing, says a source close to the case.
In fact, he’s alleging that it’s Grigorieva who broke the law.
According to the source, Gibson will be presenting evidence to detectives that Grigorieva tried to extort money from him and, if he didn’t pay, she’d leak recordings of Gibson to the press. He also asserts that she made false claims to the police about his alleged abuse.
Various sources reported the alleged physical altercation between Oksana and Mel Gibson occurred on January 6th. An altercation which Oskana alleges Mel Gibson punched her several times in the face, knocking out a couple of teeth. On January 27th, 2010, the site HollywoodLife.com published an article on Oksana:

Gibson wrote lyrics for two songs on Grigorieva’s upcoming album. “I always felt the poetic urge coming, so I’ve been providing lyrics and stuff for a few of her songs,” said Gibson. “I’ve been writing poetry and stuff since I was a teenager. Didn’t want to admit that to my friends.”
With Mel lending a hand to his girlfriend’s album, she has big plans for his next film. “I’m scoring his next movie,” said Grigorieva. “I’ll try to write songs, but it’ll be mainly scoring. I’m sure I’ll write a couple of songs. If he’d like that… that’s great.”

The site Inquisitor posted an article which contained some interesting details regarding the amount of money Mel has spent supporting his former lover Oksana since their split:
He (Mel’s attorney) said, “Mel has generously supported Lucia and will continue to do so. Oksana currently lives in a four bedroom, multi-million dollar house with Lucia and her older son Sascha purchased by Mel. Mel also purchased a brand new car for Oksana. He provides health insurance for Lucia and has given Oksana tens of thousands of dollars to support her and Lucia over the past months.”
“Tens of thousands of dollars over the past months” is chump change compared to Mel Gibson’s net worth estimated before his divorce last year at $900 million.
In the Mel Gibson rant tape–if it is indeed Mel Gibson–Gibson tells Oksana, after a long, nasty lecture on Oksana’s fake breasts and the type of clothing she wore, which, according to Mel, made her look like a “Vegas whore”, Mel told Oskana, “Stay in the f**king house! I’m not giving it to you, but I’ll let you stay there. Okay? And I will take care of my child but I don’t want you anymore!”.
Oskana’s restraining order against Mel was amended by a judge allowing Mel to visit his daughter. The judge also sealed the secret recordings made by Oksana which could eventually land Radar in court having to testify how and from whom they got the tapes. The journalism shield, of the press’ ability to not reveal a source in court may not apply to Radar if there was pay for the tapes involved. What’s interesting about the restraining order hearing where the judge sealed the rant tapes is that there was no mention of photographic evidence Mel Gibson beat up Oksana. Oksana could have bolstered her restraining order by providing photographs, if they exist, of the alleged January 6th assault.
So far, there’s been no formal charges filed against Mel for assault or extortion charges filed against Oksana. The couple have a date in court, July 20, a court hearing related to custody of their daughter Lucia.
Comfort, TX, resident 94-yr-old Felipe Gonzalez Garcia received a sentence of 10 years probation and a 100 hours of community service after he plead guilty to indecent exposure involving a 10-yr-old girl.
Garcia had faced a maximum punishment of 20 years over the May 28 indictment that was based on the complaint of a 10-year-old girl who said Garcia had her touch his penis in March.
Garcia, who used a walker in court, received deferred adjudication, meaning no conviction will appear on his record if he successfully completes the term of probation.
The awful truth about the 94-yr-old sexual offender story:
The old geezer down the street–94-yr-old Felipe Gonzalez Garcia had to use a walker–might very well be a sex offender.
Two studies, one from 2003 from the Justice Department (Recidivism of Sex Offenders Released From Prison in 1994) and another from Norway (Recidivism Among Sex Offenders: A Follow-Up Study of 541 Norwegian Sex Offenders) suggest sex offenders are more likely to start committing crimes, or keep committing them, in old age.
The Norway study found, “Young boys presented a favorable prognosis…For adults and older men, the prognosis was less favorable. The likelihood of recidivism increased with age.” It also found, “The older the offender was at the time of the first conviction, the more likely he would tend to repeat the crime.”
Based on the following news story, it’s apparent the the subject of the local history of the KKK wasn’t very high on the priority list at the University of Texas at Austin, with UT, only recently, taking steps to rename a dorm and park named after leaders of the Klu Klux Klan.
For decades, an aging dormitory at the University of Texas at Austin drew little attention, noted more for its status as the last all-male residence hall on campus than for the notorious history of the former professor for whom it is named.
But next week, UT President William Powers Jr. will ask university regents to rename Simkins Hall, which opened in 1955 and was named for William Stewart Simkins, a law professor from 1899 to 1929 and a former leader of the Ku Klux Klan.
Powers said Friday that he will ask regents to change the name of the residence hall and an adjacent park to Creekside Dormitory and Creekside Park. The park currently is named for Simkins’ brother, former UT regent Judge Eldred Simkins, who was also involved with the Klan.
Regents will discuss the issue Thursday.
According to the article, the “discussion” about Simkins Hall had been ongoing for two months with an “advisory panel” who, at this time, “doesn’t plan to address” statutes at UT which honor Confederate leaders.
According to the Handbook of Texas History Online, during his 30-yr tenure as law professor at UT, Simkins gave an annual pro-KKK lecture to students.
SIMKINS, WILLIAM STEWART (1842–1929). William Stewart Simkins, lawyer and teacher, was born in Edgefield, South Carolina, on August 25, 1842, the son of Eldred James and Pattie Simkins. He entered the Citadel, the South Carolina military academy, in 1856 and is said to have participated in the firing on Fort Sumter in April 1861. He was commissioned a first lieutenant of artillery in the Confederate Army and served throughout the Civil War. Simkins surrendered as a colonel in the army of Joseph E. Johnston in North Carolina in 1865. Soon after the war he went to Monticello, Florida, where he and his brother Eldred J. Simkins organized the Florida Ku Klux Klan. Simkins was admitted to the bar in 1870, moved to Texas in 1873, and practiced law at Corsicana until 1885, when he and his brother began a practice in Dallas. In the summer of 1899 Simkins joined the law faculty of the University of Texas and began a thirty-year career as the most colorful character ever connected with the law school. Peregrinus, the symbol of the law school, came from a Simkins lecture, and he was often referred to as “Old Peregrinoos.” First-year law students were known as “Simkins’s Jackasses,” and the term J.A. thereafter designated them. Simkins’s long white hair, his love of applause, his traditional lecture on the Ku Klux Klan, his encounter with Carry Nationqv in 1903, his tobacco-all became a part of university tradition.
Radar is reporting Mel Gibson has been dumped by the top Hollywood talent agency, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment. According to Radar, after Mad Mel’s latest recorded racist rants–Radar has a copy–William Morris “sacked” Mel Gibson with an executive labeling Mel “untouchable in the industry”. Ironically, this summer Mel Gibson was, as of June 10th, scouting locations near Brownsville, TX, for his film, “How I Spent My Summer Vacation”.
The film, set to be released next year, features Gibson as Driver, who makes a living out of crime and is thrust into a tough prison by Mexican authorities, where he learns to survive with the help of a 10-year-old boy. The crew spent some time filming in Mexico City and Veracruz, Mexico, before coming to the border.
Crowds of spectators formed downtown Wednesday morning, many in hopes of catching a glimpse of Gibson, as crew and cast members wrapped up the last day of shooting along 11th and Levee streets. Some fans were disappointed to learn Brownsville was actually being portrayed as San Diego.
In post-production is the Jodie Foster film, The Beaver, starring Mel Gibson as Walter Black. On July 9, 2009, Variety reported:

The script, written by Kyle Killen, topped the Blacklist in December.
Gibson will play a depressed man who finds solace in wearing a beaver hand-puppet. On top of helming, Foster will play the role of the man’s wife.
Foster boarded the project and brought it to Gibson, with whom she co-starred in 1994′s “Maverick.”
According to news sources, “Hollywood insiders” are worried Mel’s latest racist remarks and allegations he beat up his ex-lover Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva may affect the release date of “The Beaver”.
Gibson has just finished making the comedy Beaver, about a man who constantly wears a beaver puppet, but Hollywood insiders now fear it may not be released because of his latest scandal.
In early July the Enquirer reported a 26-yr-old Polish porn actress named Violet Kowal claimed she was Mel’s mistress while Oksana was pregnant. Kowal claimed Mel used the beaver puppet in the bedroom:
Kowal said: “He would talk to me through the puppet, saying ‘Hello, how are you today?’ and play around with it before we had sex. He acted like a child. It was pretty weird.” She also told the UK’s Sunday Mirror that Gibson injected himself with growth hormones to look younger.
Mel Gibson “emphatically denied” he’d had an affair with Violet Kowal.
As for Violet’s allegation Mel Gibson injected himself with human growth hormones to “stay young”, Radar posted the following image of a recent photo of Mel Gibson. An image which seems to contradict Kowal’s human growth hormone injection allegation.
An unruly ten-yr-old boy was tasered and slapped by two cops at an Indiana day care. The cops claim the kid was out of control, attacking other kids and caretakers.
According to sources, this wasn’t the first time cops had to be called to Tender Teddies Day Care in Indianapolis related to the same “type of reports”. There’s two issues here, the blatantly obvious one of why two grown men, cops, needed to use a weapon to subdue a ten-yr-old boy, and the other less obvious issue of whether the previous incident involved the same boy and whether the boy had tried to attack other kids and caretakers? If so, then why was the kid, who was a danger to other kids, allowed to return?
