Conservative Protestors: A Video Camera Might Prevent American Reichstag Fire
Two recent events emphasized the importance of having a pocket video camera when protesting the federal government or its employees. One was a Tea Party protest; the other, a pro-life protest. Citizen videos helped refute media lies in both cases.
Remember when “dissent was the highest form of patriotism?”
That was when Leftist Democrats were protesting against a Republican President. Now that one of their own is in the White House, protest is not so patriotic.
Democrats have been looking for their American Reichstag Fire moment since the Tea Party protests started.
They have been aided and abetted by a corrupt Mainstream Press. So, for protection, conservatives who are considering raising their voices against the federal government and its employees would be wise to purchase an inexpensive pocket video camera.
Two incidents come to mind where the presence of citizens with video camera helped expose the rotten lies of the Left/Democrats.
The first is the despicable attempt to brand Tea Party protesters as “racists.” Several black congressmen walked through a party of Tea Party protesters on their way to Congress this past weekend. Several allegedly heard a racial slur being used. Despite many video cameras present–including those of a media anxious to find such things–no proof has been forthcoming. One congressman released a statement that he declined to press charges against an arrested protester.
Since no arrests, according to the DC police, were made, this makes whatever the Congressman says on the matter suspect.
This Joseph Goebbels moment was repeated even on Fox News. Andrew Breitbart responds most ably in 2010: A Race Odyssey — Disproving a Negative for Cash Prizes or, How the Civil Rights Movement Jumped the Shark.
Instapundit Glenn Reynolds has a nice round-up of the faux slur: SMEARING THE TEA PARTIES.
The second lie about Tea Party protesters happened in St. Louis. Rep. Russ Carnahan, no stranger to bending the truth curve, alleged that protesters left a coffin in his yard.
This is a lie. Jim Hoft, of Gateway Pundit, was present and filed a comprehensive report of the event, as well as the media lies that were told.
Leftist Democrats are desperately looking for conservatives who will use illegal tactics that have long been employed by the Left.
There will be no riots, no rock throwing, no beat-downs from Conservatives and Libertarians.
But there will be dissent and documentation of that dissent. It’s time for all good citizens to buy a hand-held video camera. If you plan to protest and raise your voice, it’s a good idea to document it.
Otherwise, you risk being called a “racist”–and worse.
One suspects that video cameras might, in the end, prevent the Democrats who shredded the Constitution, from achieving their Americanized Reichstag Fire.
NOTE: The Instapundit recommended the Creative Labs Vado pocket video camera.
UPDATE: Like we’ve said before: all the talk of violence originates from the Left–where much of the violence itself has historically taken place.
And currently. Rep. Cantor’s Richmond Campaign Office Shot at Overnight. This doesn’t make every Democrat a shooter.
By the same logic that’s been employed against the Tea Party, it doesn’t even mean that any shots were fired. By Dem standard, Cantor’s office would have to have been yelled at, with the media claiming that Democrats had shot at Cantor’s office; that would be the proper parallel.

MAGNIFICENT!
From VD Hanson:
Like it or not, between 2001 and 2008, the “progressive” community redefined what is acceptable and not acceptable in political and public discourse about their elected officials. Slurs like “Nazi” and “fascist” and “I hate” were no longer the old street-theater derangement of the 1960s, but were elevated to high-society novels, films, political journalism, and vein-bulging outbursts of our elites. If one were to take the word “Bush” and replace it with “Obama” in the work of a Nicholson Baker, or director Gabriel Range, or Garrison Keillor or Jonathan Chait, or in the rhetoic of a Gore or Moore, we would be presently in a national crisis, witnessing summits on the epidemic of “hate speech.”
So here we are with the age-old problem that once one destroys decorum for the sake of short-term expediency, it is very hard to restore it in any credible fashion on grounds of principle when the proverbial shoe is on the other foot. A modest suggestion: If the liberal community wishes to be more credible in its concern about contemporary extremist anti-administration rhetoric, then they might try the following: “Please, let us avoid extremism and do not fall into the same trap as Baker, Chait, Keillor, Gore, Moore, or Range when they either expressed open hatred toward their president, or speculated about the assassination of their president, or compared their president to a fascist. We must disown such extremism, past and present.”
Progressives: Hypocrisy is a founding tenet of the movement.
UPDATE on April 12, 2010: Ever hear of a secondary Instalanche? That’s what happens when Instapundit mentions an article which has linked to one of yours. As in, GraniteGrok’s Wanna tick off a Progressive – show them your pocket videocam – with the red light on!
It’s not an Instalanche–however, it is a very nice uptick in traffic for a sunny Monday!
