From President Obama’s State of the Union speech:

“…if the Republican leadership is going to insist that sixty votes in the Senate are required to do any business at all in this town, then the responsibility to govern is now yours as well.”

Stopping destructive legislation is governing.

It would have been better the legislation had never been proposed in its big-government, heavy handed way. That was one part of governing. Stopping it was another. Republicans will gladly take the responsibility for it.

The remark is one price America is paying for taking civics out of the classroom.
