Man Dead After Lawn Tractor, Tractor Trailer Collision
A Bannock, Ohio man died after his “late model” lawn tractor collided with a tractor trailer hauling coal Tuesday at 2 pm on Ohio 331.
Dave Eddy, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred about 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Jim Tracy.
Tracy said Eddy, riding a “late model lawn tractor,” pulled out in front of an oncoming coal truck traveling south on Ohio 331 near its intersection with Oak Avenue. Upon impact, Tracy said it appears Eddy was ejected from the tractor and dragged before coming to rest.
According to Tracy, there’s no laws against driving lawn tractors like Eddy’s on state highways. Even so, troopers think it’s a good idea to drive “vehicles” that can “keep up with the traffic” at the legal speed limit of 45 mph.
No word yet as to where Eddy was headed, or, why Eddy was driving a lawn tractor in winter.
