Attorney Sued For Biting off Portion of Man’s Nose in Trendy Memphis Gay Hotspot
It’s not often where you hear about “trendy gays” in a biting-off-nose incident in the restroom of a gay “hot spot”, and the subsequent $7.5 million civil lawsuit filed against the admitted “nose-biter” attorney.
Mark Lambert admitted during an interview with WMC-TV to biting off a portion of Greg Herbers’ nose, according to a report on the TV station’s Web site. The bite occurred during a fracas at Memphis-area hot spot Dish.
Herbers is now reportedly suing Lambert, claiming he needs plastic surgery and might have to wear a prosthetic nose. He also claims Lambert swallowed what he bit off.
The New York Daily News has photos of Herber’s nose. According to the ABA Journal, Herber is a hairdresser who has a “criminal record”:
Herbers has a criminal record that includes possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence, according to the Commercial Appeal.
The club were the incident occurred, The Dish, is listed by About.com as one of the Top 5 Gay and Lesbian Nightspots in Memphis.
Dish is a restaurant in the Cooper – Young district, the epicenter of the Memphis GLBT community. Dish serves up some decent food and some interesting drink choices (for example, the “Flaming Queer” is an excellent alcoholic concoction mixed with fruit juices). Though the food is good, the real reason to go to Dish is the atmosphere. In the early evening, it is a fine dining restaurant patronized by a diverse crowd. Later in the evenings, it becomes a pick up joint for trendy gays and lesbians.
“If he didn’t bit, they must acquit…”
Lambert is an associate at The Cochran Firm’s Memphis office. The “Cochran” stands for Johnny Cochran, the attorney who was part of O.J. Simpson’s “dream team” defense during O.J.’s infamous acquittal in 1994 on charges he slashed the throat of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and a friend of Nicole’s, Ron Goldman in Brentwood, CA, in 1994. It was Johnny Cochran who uttered the famous phrase, “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit”, during closing arguments.
Cochran, 67, succumbed to an inoperable brain tumor in 2005.

Lawsuit Accuses Lawyer of Biting Off Hairdresser’s Nose in Bathroom Fight

Thanks for writing this, I found it valuable. I was born in Memphis and still have a lot fond memories of the area. I am planning a vacation back there this spring. Has Memphis changed much from the early 80′s? I am really looking forward to seeing Graceland again.
