Houston’s Scrooge? Attorney Faces Wrath after Filing Lawsuit over Church Feeding “Derelicts” Near Attorney’s Office

1951-xmas-humbug-scrooge

Houston attorney Harry C. Arthur, fed up with the large number of “derelicts” near his downtown office, filed a recent lawsuit against a nearby church whose outreach programs feed an estimated 400 homeless people a day. Arthur wants the outreach program to “cease and desist”.

Is Harry a Scrooge? According to the numerous comments posted on the Houston Chronicle article, many believe he is. But then again, Harry’s plight, of hundreds of homeless milling about his office building a day, sleeping in the shadows at night, defecating and urinating near the building, and panhandling people who are downtown on business, with nearby tenants fleeing in droves, maybe Harry isn’t quite the scrooge some believe him to be.

Meanwhile, with the number of unemployed in the U.S. over 10 million, and an estimated one million homeless, Obama is gearing up to fly to Copenhagen to “save” the world from global warming.

Exploding the Myths of Socialism Vs Capitalism

PEOPLE WHO HAVE MONEY DON’T EARN IT.
THEY CATCH IT WHEN IT FALLS FROM THE SKY.
THAT’S WHY IT’S OKAY FOR BIG GOVERNMENT TO TAKE IT FROM THEM.

Money has its myths. So do the “poor”.

One such myth in recent years is the “nobility of the poor”. Forty years ago, Americans would have scoffed that there was anything ‘noble’ about poverty. Many poor people worked very hard to escape their situation.

They did not want to be poor and saw nothing ‘noble’ about their plight.

Then came LBJ’s The Great Society and the Myth of the Noble Poor, Victims of the Evil Rich. In this scenario, the poor were victims which neither hard work or ingenuity could help. They floated like dust in the wind–just waiting for the only thing that could alter their situation–the benevolent, heavy hand of Big Government.

Some other myths are explored in The Makers of Money:

* Socialists love to posture as enemies of the rich, but in truth, the upper class is not usually a big obstacle to their plans. They are happy to cooperate willingly, if they see advantages to gaining the favor of a command economy.

* Collectivists sell their politics with a promise of “equality,” generally understood by their audience as a promise to redistribute the wealth of the rich to improve the lives of the poor… but this is a lie. The upper class in a communist, fascist, or socialist government is fantastically wealthy. Most of the “redistribution” comes at the expense of the middle class, which shrinks as the lower class grows.

* It has been said that if you gathered all the money in America into a single pot, then divided it evenly between every citizen, in a few years the same people would be rich and poor again. No matter how limited or activist the government might be, the same people tend to end up at the top.

This last puts the lie to the thought that the making of money is a result of the “lottery theory”. People who are rich generally just happen to luck out and be standing in the right place when it falls out of the sky. This last myth is one that is promoted by socialists.

If people who have earned money didn’t work for it, then it’s AOK for Big Government to steal it from them and give it to someone else.

Rampage in the Texas County: Man Shoots Horses, Houses, Before Trying to Force Way into Home

The LufkinDailyNews.com didn’t report what time of day this incident occurred in Nacogdoches County, Texas. Whether it occurred during the day or during the night. What the paper did report: A “rampage” by a “heavily-armed man” with “two different rifles and numerous amounts of ammunition” who appeared near the property boundaries of homes in a sparsely populated area of the county, who then shot and killed four horses “at random”, then shot at neighbor’s homes before he was shot by a homeowner after trying to “force” his way inside the home.

While the wounded man was “known” to the local Sheriff’s office, the homeowner didn’t know the shooter, a man in his late 20′s, previously. The Sheriff said the homeowner was “well within his rights to take the action he did”.

Carter 2nd Term: Obama Re-Teaching Lessons Learned During Carter Era

After listing the ways the rest of the world’s nations have blown off the USA under Barack Obama and his ‘smart power’, PAT BUCHANAN sums up the situation as he see it.

From Our Pushover President:

Again, none of the above represents a grave threat to any vital U.S. interest. Nevertheless, this lack of reciprocity, this lack of respect, this indifference to what the president is demanding or even asking is revealing about the era we have now entered — and about Barack Obama.

All that bloviation we heard for two decades — about the “Second American Century,” the “End of History,” the “New World Order,” America as “omnipower” and “indispensable nation,” the “New Rome” seizing its “unipolar moment” to impose “benevolent global hegemony” on mankind and “ending tyranny in our world” — it was, all of it, bullhockey.

Second, though Obama may be liked and admired by people all over the world, this counts for next to nothing in global power politics.

It seems that every 30 years or so, the USA has to re-learn two elementary lessons of diplomacy: 1-no one pays any attention to a power that doesn’t want to use their power; and, 2-countries look out after their own interests, not the USA’s.

If America won’t look out for the interests of Americans, no one else will.

Jimmy Carter taught the lesson in reverse to Americans during his term as president. Barack Obama is re-teaching the lesson during the time he occupies the Oval Office as Carter’s second term.

Bad Joke or Bomb Threat? Arab Electrical Student at UT El Paso University Charged with Making Bomb Threat

Seems some people can’t take a “joke” about bombs and how “fun” it is to “blow people up”.

The incident happened at the University of Texas of El Paso Biological Science building on November 18 when Ahmad Ibrahim Fares-Hammad, an Arab electrical engineering student, was asked by an administrative student what he was carrying. Unfortunately for Fares-Hammad, the assistant was unfamiliar with him and with the object he carried: small device with short metal poles that had yellow, red and blue wires, which, according to ABC 7, was something electrical students “typically carry around”.

When the assistant asked Fares-Hammad what he was carrying, Fares-Hammad responded:

“It is a remote control used to blow people up.” The employee then remarked, “That is mean and not very nice.” Fares-Hammad then told her, “It is fun to blow people up,” according to the FBI investigator who interviewed the employee.

Fares-Hammad then asked the employee for water and she directed him to a water tank. Fares-Hammad noticed there were no water cups attached to the tank and told the employee he needed a cup. At that point, he told her, “You think because we are Arab we will blow people up. I won’t blow you up,” according to the FBI investigator. The employee then asked him, “You think I’m flattered by that?” Fares-Hammad replied, “You should be flattered,” according to the investigator.

Bad joke, snark, or bomb threat, a federal jury will be the judge as Fares-Hammad’s “act” was caught on surveillance cameras and Fares-Hammad was charged “with “maliciously making false information concerning alleged attempts to injure, kill, or unlawfully damage or destroy a building by means of explosive”.
