Media Matters Claims Credit for Lou Dobbs Leaving CNN

SHOULD DOBBS SEND MEDIA MATTERS A BOX OF CHOCOLATES?

Media Matters is taking credit for Lou Dobbs stepping down from CNN.

From a MM email:

Last night was Lou Dobbs’ last show on CNN. Dobbs’ sudden departure is a powerful reminder of what we are capable of when we work together. For years, Dobbs used his prominent platform on CNN as a perch to spread hate, misinformation, and wild conspiracy theories. Thanks in no small part to your continued dedication and activism, starting today, Dobbs no longer has that platform.

Below is the Media Matters’ video, “Adios Lou Dobbs”.

But did Media Matter? Maybe, maybe not–but if it did…

IF speculation is correct, Dobbs is likely to land at Fox Business Network with additional slots at Fox News. That would give the former CNN anchor a platform that’s three times larger than the one he had at CNN.

Oh no.

So, if this is true, Media Matters is actually responsible for helping Lou Dobbs reach many more millions than have ever watched him at fourth-place CNN.

Lou Dobbs might consider sending Media Matters’ prez, Eric Burns, a box of chocolates!

ONE LAST NOTE: Media Matters sent out four anti-Dobbs emails in over an eight-day period back in September. All of the emails contained appeals for money. Dobbs was one of Media Matters best fundraising tools, probably surpassing even Rush Limbaugh–at least in September. If Dobbs doesn’t end up at Fox, MM has lost a big money maker. MM president, Eric Burns, might consider starting an email campaign to get Dobbs to sign on immediately at Fox News. Or MM might have to hit George Soros up for more money in 2010.
