CONSERVATIVE 100
Ratings #16, January 18, 2012
DBKP has released its monthly ratings of the Most Popular 100 Conservative sites on the web, the Conservative 100. The ratings are based on Alexa traffic rankings 3-month worldwide average. Ratings taken from January 15-18, 2012.
As can be expected, there has been some movement over the last six months since the last Conservative 100 was published. The Top 10 was absolutely stable. After that, sites movement has been fluid. Of course, changes in the way Google indexed sites fully took effect since our last rating in June 2011.
There are 11 new sites in the Top 100. New websites making the list: Gateway Pundit moved to its own URL (30); Legal Insurrection is back after moving to its URL (52); PJTV makes its debut at #56. Verum Serum is new at 76; Michael Yon (78); Mitt Romney Central (83) and Angry White Dude cracks the top 100 at #87, followed by Small Dead Animals at 88. Rounding out the newcomers this edition are Gates of Vienna (91); Right Nation (97) and American Power Blog (100).
In the interest of getting the list published, this post was a “team effort.” We’ll blame any mistakes on a lack of coordination. Or lack of communication. Or…
Our next list is planned to be another project by more than one individual. It’s planned to come out the first week of February. But we all know about the plans of mice and men…
NOTE: We added a lot of new sites to the “Near Miss” list. Check the end of this post for a list of sites which we haven’t “put in their proper place yet.” Give us 48 hours and check back. All the work should be completed.
The Conservative 100 list contains sites of interest to conservatives or with a conservative point of view.
NOTE: ONE NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE SINCE JANUARY 2011: The libertarian sites (Lew Rockwell, Daily Paul, Reason, Ron Paul Forums, Freedom’s Phoenix, etc.) were moved to a listing of their own. The Libertarian lists can be accessed here at the end of this post.
As always, if we missed anyone, drop us a line in the comments with your site URL; we’ll include in the next Conservative 100 ratings for June.

* Ann Barnhardt
* IowaDawg
* Ricochet
* Michelle’s Mirror
* Maggie’s Notebook
NOTES:
* This edition of the Conservative 100 is somewhat of a team effort. We’ll be updating it over the next 48 hours to make sure everything is where it’s supposed to be.
* We’ve gotten several inquiries as to how some sites are ranked higher than others: for instance, how does Free Republic, a site with 300,000 registered users, rank higher than Rush Limbaugh, who has a show with 10 million regular listeners? While we only compile the Alexa rankings, here’s one explanation: a site with a large amount of loyal users will many times have those users check the site multiple times per day; while media personalities–Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingram, Mark Levin–may have millions of listeners/viewers, only a percentage of those may end up visiting that person’s website.
* As previously stated, this is a list of traffic rankings. Different people obviously have different tastes and priorities in what makes a conservative site special to that person: that’s what makes the Internet go round. A person who loves Site A may not have any desire to visit Site B; and, visa versa.
SITE-SPECIFIC NOTES – January 2012
* – As our note from last ratings pointed out, Legal Insurrection moved from Blogger to it’s own .com address. Whenever such a move takes place, it usually takes 2-3 months for a site to recover its traffic. And so, Legal Insurrection has recovered.
# Confederate Yankee, Ace of Spades HQ, and Jawa Report, as well as other mu.nu blogs all combine for the same rating. Alexa treats these sites as one in its traffic rankings. Because these are all popular conservative sites, we’ll leave it like this with the note until Alexa distinguishes between them.
# -The same holds true for First Things, The Anchoress, Spengler, Secondhand Smoke, Evangel and Postmodern Conservative are all at First Things. All the above sites register an aggregate total like the mu.nu sites. Until Alexa distinguishes between the blogs, they’ll be ranked in the aggregate with this note.
* Gateway Pundit has moved his site from Right Network to its own .com URL.
# Michael Savage is part of World Net Daily and their traffic combine to form one total.
# Instapundit is part of the Pajamas Media site and both combine for the one total.
# Don Surber is part of the Charleston Daily Mail site and both combine for the one total.
# Big Hollywood is part of the Breitbart.com site and both combine for the one total.
# Several sites have changed URLs including MRC TV (formerly Eye Blast TV) and Doubleplus Undead.
Remember: If we missed your site, let us know. Either with a note in the comments or an email to mondoreb@gmail.com. Put TOP 100 in the subject line.

Libertarian Top 50 Sites: June-July 2011
Posted on July 14, 2011
DBKP’s Top 50 list featuring Libertarian sites.
DBKP Reports has released its ratings of the top 50 most popular Libertarian websites on the Internet. Ratings are based on the sites’ 3-month average of Alexa worldwide traffic as ranked on July 13-14, 2011.
The Libertarian list has expanded from the Top 40 to the Top 50 sites this rating.
The Libertarian 50′s top five most popular sites is led by Lew Rockwell, followed by Reason and Ludwig Von Mises Institute. The top five is rounded out by The Daily Paul and the Big Picture.
New sites making their way into the Top 50: Personal Liberty Digest, Gary North, Ron Paul, Daily Bell, Economic Policy Journal, Free Talk Live, Free Domain Radio (and Forums), Cop Block, Free Keene, Big Head Pictures, Humble Libertarian and Frazier Institute.
Like all lists, the Libertarian list covers a lot of ground; our broad definition: all these sites cover topics of interest primarily–but not limited to–Libertarians: individual freedom and liberty, small government, unabashed defense of capitalism and the free market and fiscal restraint.
As with DBKP’s other lists, it’s planned that the Libertarian list will expand in the future to 100 sites as more become known. If your website (or one that you frequent) has been missed, drop a line to: mondoreb@gmail.com.
Those interested in comparing an individual site’s Alexa rankings with those of the March Libertarian ratings, see Libertarian Top 40 Sites: March 2011.
NOTE: These lists tend to be “works in progress” the first 4 or 5 months after they’re started until we’re aware of everyone. Over a year after starting the Conservative 100, it has only been in the last three or four months that everyone who belongs on the list is actually on it. Since this is the first edition of the Libertarian list, expect some of these sites to drop off, a lot of additions, until–in about 5 or 6 months, there will be a fairly credible list which contains everyone who belongs on it.
Additional notes and “sites Missed” follow after the ratings.

MISSED SITES
We’ll list below any qualifying sites we missed and have become aware of. Look for them next time! To qualify for inclusion, a site must be primarily a libertarian site and have a 3-month Alexa average lower than 1,000,000. If the site slips below 1m later, it is still included–unless it stays below 1m for 12 months.

NOTES:
* Several sent in Anti-war.com for inclusion. While being against wars is a frequent position of Libertarians, it is also a position held by Progressives and some Conservatives. While realizing this is a judgment call, we’ll include Anti-War in the Alternate News-Information 100 list next time. [NOTE: After checking, Anti-war.com is already on the Alternate listing.]
