The Weather Channel is front and center these days with news of a sexual harassment arbitration and civil lawsuit involving two former co-anchors and the Weather Channel plus an impending multi-billion dollar sale of the channel. Hillary Andrews While an arbitration may initially seem like a good way for employees to settle claims , meteorologist and former co-anchor Hillary Andrews, in attempt to bolster her claims of sexual harassment in a civil suit against another former co-anchor Bob Stokes, is finding out the hard way, that arbitration decisions are considered to be confidential and binding. Andrews, a former co-anchor at the Weather Channel is attempting to get records of a company arbitration ruling between her and former co-anchor Bob Stokes unsealed and recognized by the judge in her Cobb County civil lawsuit to bolster her claims of serial sexual harassment by Stokes and the company’s blind eye to Stoke’s behavior with former Weather Channel female co-anchors. Bob Stokes, Former co-anchor at the Weather Channel Andrews, who left the company in 2006 after her contract wasn’t renewed, had entered into arbitration with Stokes, who at that time was still employed as a popular meteorologist and co-anchor. Andrews charged that Stokes was [...]

The pregnant man completes the second phase of his media trifecta: he/she appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show Thursday. The first phase is to call a press conference: check. The third phase involves the book deal and the TV movie. Then well-deserved obscurity, broken only by appearances as an answer to trivia questions and “Where are they now” stories 10 years later. Reactions to Thomas Beatie and wife Nancy’s second phase. “An American man who claims he is six months pregnant said it was a “miracle” in his first TV interview. Thomas Beatie, 34, of Bend, Oregon, used to be a woman before undergoing gender reassignment surgery. He first claimed he was pregnant in an article headlined “Labour of love” in a gay magazine, the Advocate, last month. Many were sceptical, particularly after Beatie said he would not give any interviews until April Fools’ Day.” –Pregnant Man Goes on Oprah Winfrey show “When Thomas Beatie’s wife Nancy was unable to conceive, the Bend, Oregon resident stepped up to the biological plate and the now five months pregnant man is due in July with the couple’s first child. “Wanting to have a biological child is neither a male nor female desire, [...]

Image – USATT FOX pulled a good one over the public this week with today’s “Breaking News” announcement of a roundtable GOP debate tonight on FOX News. Over at FOX’s You Decide 2008, FOX has put up this “breaking news” banner: Breaking News >> Banner: GOP Presidential Hopefuls Go One-On-One Tonight at 8 PM ET On Fox News Channel Scattered through an article “48 Hours and lots of Campaigning Ahead of New Hampshire Primary” are the details of tonight’s “impromptu” GOP debate. Watch FOX News at 8 p.m. Sunday for a roundtable discussion with five Republican presidential candidates. The roundtable format will feature McCain, Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani and Mike Huckabee. Neither Ron Paul nor Duncan Hunter was invited to the discussion, causing widespread complaints from their supporters and the Paul campaign. Source - FOX NEWS One wonders if the ‘last minute’ debate was because FOX had trouble getting candidates to accept or they were afraid of last week’s reaction from the Ron Paul camp, after calls to boycott FOX and reign down mass destruction through emails to FOX were made when it was learned Paul was not to be invited. We look forward to tonight’s round table [...]
