Mystery Humming Noise Plagues U.K. Village, More Strange Noises in the Sky Videos

It's back! The mysterious 'hum' heard in the U.K.

We can add the residents of the tiny U.K. village of Woodland in County Durham to the list of people who are hearing or have heard a strange noise (hum). For the residents of Woodland, an unexplained ‘humming’ noise that’s been occurring like clockwork that began four months ago and is heard between the hours of midnight and 4 AM. In 2008, the mysterious hum heard in Suffolk which, so far, is unexplained. In April, 2009, in Halifax, reports of a mysterious humming noise driving the resident’s ‘nuts’. In the 1970′s, a deep, rumbling noise in Bristol that affected thousands of residents who experienced nose bleeds, headaches, and insomnia. An unexplained humming noise, heard at night, which was still affecting the residents up until 2009.

The Bristol ‘Hum’

The ‘hum’ is definitely AC mains noise from outside transformers. Some years ago I noticed a loud, low-frequency hum that only happened late at night, when all other sounds like traffic and birds had died away. It was so infuriating that I armed myself with a torch and I set out to find the culprit. The problem was that once outside, the ‘hum’ appears to be coming from all directions – you can’t just go in the direction it sounds loudest – I guess this is something to do with the physics of low-frequency waves? But this does correlate to what other people have said above.

News reports related the mysterious ‘hum’ plaguing the residents of the tiny village of Woodland located in County Durham, England:

“It’s a constant very low-frequency humming noise that can be heard between midnight and 4am and it’s stopping me from sleeping,” she says. “In certain areas of the house you can hear it more loudly. It is definitely from outside, it’s in the air, all around, very faint. It vibrates through the house. We’ve turned all the electricity off in the house and we can still hear it, so it’s not that.

“Sometimes we’ll be in bed and it vibrates right through our bed, like a throbbing. It’s not tinnitus, that’s a high pitched sound and this is very low. If I put my fingers in my ears it stops, so I know it’s not in my head. At 4am it’s so clear, and because we live in such a isolated place with no traffic, it’s heaven.

“But it leaves a buzzing in your head for the rest of the day.”

The Hum is definitely real. I live in south Bedfordshire where I experienced it persistently for months about twelve years ago. I say I experienced it because it is not only a noise, a deep throbbing or growling pulse that sounds just like a large diesel engine idling. (I lived by rail lines and I thought it was a locomotive sitting on the track while workmen maintained the track in the small hours.)

Sometimes the Hum would be so strong, waves of tingling, prickling sensations went down my legs as I lay in bed, sending blood into my feet and toes, making them hot, red, and tingling. It was like an ‘acoustic massage’. While I actually quite enjoyed this, it could be disconcerting as sometimes I thought the tips of my toes were going to burst. The soles of my feet would get very red with engorged blood. My wife also heard The Hum but it didn’t affect her sleep..

The Hum was audible outside. The bedroom was where it was strongest, though, and I agree with those who say that certain house constructions can act to amplify it. Considering the variety of Hum locations, the isolation of some places, I also think it’s source is likely to be underground.

A government-endorsed report several years ago concluded that The Hum did not exist. I found this incredible; either they wanted to save face by not admitting they don’t know what it is, or they realised there’s something the public probably shouldn’t be told. Dr David Baguley believes is it real, but comes from over-sensitive hearing, a trigger of ‘internal gain’. I was prepared to think so too – until I experienced the physical sensations.

My experience of The Hum was largely one of curiousness and fascination, and to ‘just go with it’, but I can well understand the distress it causes to people who treasure their peace and who are prevented from sleeping. There is no question that more research should be done to isolate the extents and source of this phenomena.

Now a tiny English village is the latest community to claim to be being hit by the phenomenon known as “the hum”. Residents of Woodland, in County Durham, claim that every night a noise permeates the air similar to the throb of a car engine.
It is sometimes so strong that it even shakes the bed of one of the householders.
But no matter how hard they look, the community cannot find the source of the problem and, at their wits end, have called in the council to investigate.

The 300-strong population is the latest around the world to be hit by the rumble which has in the past led to wild conspiracy theories blaming it on UFOs, government experiments and abandoned mine shafts.

It is so widespread that it has even featured on the television show The X Files.
It’s most famous occurrence was in Bristol in the 1970s when more than a thousand people complained of the consistent drone causing nosebleeds, sleeplessness and headaches.

It vanished as mysteriously as it arrived and was never explained.

In August of 2008, the BBC New report about the mysterious humming noise heard in Suffolk, Mystery surrounds humming noise.

The hum, which has been heard in Sudbury overnight, has led to 50 people contacting Sudbury Town Council. Lord Philips of Sudbury said: “If someone had said to me a spacecraft had landed on the meadows last night I would have said ‘well I heard it’.”

A council spokeswoman said Babergh District Council was attempting to identify the noise. We have all got theories behind it – some out of this world and some are logic, but no-one really knows what it is. Sue Brotherwood, Sudbury town clerk, described the noise as a “high hum”.

And,

“It’s a high pitched drone, continuous between about six at night and five in the morning and dependent on what age you are, determines what you interpret it as.”

In April of 2009, reports of a ‘strange vibrating’ noise in the Halifax, U.K. area that had been plaguing residents since October. A noise that caused headaches, insomnia and sickness.

Based on news reports the humming noise in Bristol in the 1970′s caused ‘nose bleeds, sleeplessness, and headaches’ which, so far, haven’t been explained. Which leads to, was the rumbling noise unexplainable, or, was there was an explanation that was kept from the public?

On April 28, 1997, a quote from a U.S. Department of Defense briefing from Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen:

A: Well, it points out the nature of the threat. It turned out to be a false threat under the circumstances. But as we’ve learned in the intelligence community, we had something called — and we have James Woolsey here to perhaps even address this question about phantom moles. The mere fear that there is a mole within an agency can set off a chain reaction and a hunt for that particular mole which can paralyze the agency for weeks and months and years even, in a search. The same thing is true about just the false scare of a threat of using some kind of a chemical weapon or a biological one. There are some reports, for example, that some countries have been trying to construct something like an Ebola Virus, and that would be a very dangerous phenomenon, to say the least. Alvin Toeffler has written about this in terms of some scientists in their laboratories trying to devise certain types of pathogens that would be ethnic specific so that they could just eliminate certain ethnic groups and races; and others are designing some sort of engineering, some sort of insects that can destroy specific crops. So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways in which they can wreak terror upon other nations. It’s real, and that’s the reason why we have to intensify our efforts, and that’s why this is so important.

Electromagnetic waves are not like sound waves because they do not need molecules to travel. This means that electromagnetic waves can travel through air, solid objects and even space. This is how astronauts on spacewalks use radios to communicate. Radio waves are a type of electromagnetic wave.

Electricity can be static, like what holds a balloon to the wall or makes your hair stand on end. Magnetism can also be static like a refrigerator magnet. But when they change or move together, they make waves – electromagnetic waves.

When you listen to the radio, watch TV, or cook dinner in a microwave oven, you are using electromagnetic waves. Radio waves, television waves, and microwaves are all types of electromagnetic waves. They only differ from each other in wavelength. Wavelength is the distance between one wave crest to the next.

Waves in the electromagnetic spectrum vary in size from very long radio waves the size of buildings, to very short gamma-rays smaller than the size of the nucleus of an atom.

THE AMPLIFICATION EFFECT Another aspect of HAARP that is extremely important is a non-linear effect.
Researchers at Stanford University discovered that if you put energy into the
upper ionosphere and magnetosphere, in the ULF range (ultra low frequency
range), you can create a catalyst which causes natural energy to be released.
They found that the signal sent up was amplified by athousand times when it
arrived there. HAARP, when it is fully completed, will have one billion watts of
effective radiative power. If you can manipulate that energy to get the
amplification effect, it is huge. They have also created some new signal
amplifiers. According to patents, transferring energy through this transmitter into
huge Mylar reflectors and bouncing the signal back to the earth to where it can
be re-introduced to the energy grid, is supposed to be economically feasible in
the next couple of years. The problem is that if the reflector moves only slightly,
you may have a path of energy rolling through your neighbourhood.Research also suggests that by using this instrument, you could actually change the chemical composition of the upper atmosphere.

EXTREMELY LOW FREQUENCY (ELF) RADIATION When HAARP sends up a signal in the high frequency range and they begin to
pulse or vibrate that signal, the ionosphere itself converts from DC to AC, begins
to mirror the pulse rate and acts like a giant broadcast antenna in the sky,
perhaps as much as a 1,000 miles above this transmitter. It pulses the signal
back to the earth in the extremely low frequency (ELF) range. This is between
one and approximately 100 Hertz. That is what is used for communication with
submarines at depth using 14 and 26 mile long antennas buried underground in
Michigan, Wisconsin and in Alaska to create that signal. With HAARP, they
thought they would have a little more versatility and the ability to communicate at
higher data rates and more efficiently with submarines at depth. It is the same
ELF that is used for earth penetrating tomography because you need a long
wave in order to penetrate the earth to any great degree. Short wavelengths just
don’t go very far. The problem is, earth penetrating tomography operates in the
ELF range, which happens to correlate to biologically active frequencies in the
human body, particularly in the human brain.

What’s interesting to note, the sound described in the tiny village of Woodland was described as a rumbling noise like a car engine.

In an episode of Unsolved Mysteries on a ‘mystery hum’, a guy living on Michigan’s northern peninsula had been plagued by a mystery hum for five years.

‘I’ve been hearing the hum for about five years, it sounds like a diesel engine running parked away but yet it has a physical effect. It seems to make a sound resonance in your sternum and thorax area and causes a vibration in your temporal lobe.’

This is about 25 minutes after the noises started…. these rumbling pulses are so intense, you can feel them in the ground, but the sound seems to come from the sky above the Ohio river..

I tried in the mist of action, to put the microphone in a way,that it would record the sound in the best way. Ironically , I had my finger infront of it or something, so its just about the sound here..its similair to the sound in Florida,the strange rumbling sound. Its kind of like an airplane sound, but 20 times stronger,its almost vibrating you.It seemed like it was coming from somewhere very close, covering the whole area. I just got the last minute of it. I could hear it for about 2-3 minutes,while i heard from people on the street it was there for about 10.. Alot of ppl were looking up allready. Its extremely loud, but as I noticed in the video, you hear alot of wind and cars,so if you can excuse that,and try to hear the sound behind that..you may hear something. If not, thats OK too. I put this video mostly for people who have heard the similair noise.

Noise started at around 3am lasted around 20 mins, then stopped started again at 4 and went on until around 5:45am. Sounded like a hovering plane, then a strong wind, back to hovering plane. No planes were visible and it was damn near all night.
