Casey Anthony Trial: Multiple Layers of Duct Tape on Caylee’s Skull
Pieces of duct tape contained Caylee's hair, fabric and plant roots

During Day 25 of the Casey Anthony trial, gruesome testimony about Caylee Anthony’s ‘skull’ including photos shown to the jury. Photos which were not shown on the live feed from the trial.
Jurors saw photos of a densely wooded area littered with fragments of beer bottles and signs for an old day care. A path through the wooded area led to Caylee’s remains, barely discernible through all of the vegetation.
The front of the skull had duct tape on it, Orange County crime scene investigator Jennifer Welch testified. Around the skull was an off white canvas bag, a black plastic bag, a red Disney bag and a white blanket that was so worn the investigator originally thought it was a towel.
All that remained of Caylee’s clothing were pieces of tiny shorts and the collar of a shirt.
“It is a collar with a tag still present,” said Welch of the shirt.
Around the skull was medium length brown hair.

Dr. Gary Utz, the Chief Deputy Medical Examiner, testified ‘multiple layers’ of duct tape were discovered on Caylee Anthony’s skull.
Utz testified:
A small portion of the Caylee’s hair that remained on Caylee’s skull had to be cut away from the duct tape covering Caylee’s skull.
‘Multiple layers of duct tape’ were discovered on Caylee’s skull.
‘Fibers’ and ‘roots’ were discovered attached to the duct tape.
Dr. Utz identified for the prosecution photos of the evidence removed from the crime scene. Before the jury was dismissed for their lunch break Dr. Utz identified photos of the laundry bag, a label from the bag, and black plastic bag inside the laundry bag, the knot used to tie the bag, another black plastic bag, and, a tattered pair of shorts.
