Is Donald Trump destroying the GOP’s chances for 2012?

According to a recent poll, Donald Trump leads a pack of GOP challengers for the Republican presidential nomination.

He got there by harping on the long-settled issue of Obama’s birthplace.

Trump has also gained traction by attacking Obama’s education. Trump says the president was unqualified to get into Columbia and Harvard.

Republican strategist Karl Rove has stated the obvious: Donald Trump is a joke candidate.

Glenn Beck has also jumped on the anti-Trump bandwagon. He says Trump and liberal George Soros are in cahoots.

Whether Trump is serious about running remains to be seen. He plans to make a statement on the May 15th episode of The Apprentice.

Democrats must be hoping Trump runs. The more Trump talks, the crazier he makes the Republicans seem.

The trouble with Donald Trump–well, one of the troubles: he makes even abject tools like Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, and yes, even Barack Obama, seem wonderful by comparison.
