A trio of stories has propelled Obama’s birth certificate back into the news. Also back in the news: the favorite PC term for those who don’t wish to seriously engage in the discussion: Birther. It’s another politically correct Alinskyite term designed to substitute ridicule for debate.

The topic of the elusive birth certificate of Barack Obama has been thrust back into the news, this time via two stories: Chris Matthews asking the question “Why doesn’t Obama show his birth certificate?”; and, the new governor of Hawaii telling tales of Obama’s parents, who were apparently two of his pals from the past.
A third, though lesser-noticed, item has also unintentionally contributed to the discussion: the sudden revelation by the Associated Press–without citing a source for its discovery–of the particular Hawaiian hospital with the honor of hosting our 44th president’s entry into this world.
Obama himself has never publicly revealed that information–so one would think that the AP would be anxious to reveal where it got the previously-undiscovered info in it’s piece, Hawaii’s governor wants to reveal Obama birth info.
But, it wasn’t like the AP made a big deal of it. They just slipped it into their article–probably for “flavor.”

So Matthews and his panel wonder–two years after Matthews abrogated his constitutionally-protected duty to investigate the question–why BHO hasn’t gotten around to producing his long form birth certificate? Actually, the correct question would be: “Why hasn’t BHO gotten around to producing his long form birth certificate and instead spent upwards of two million dollars in court over the question?”
Which makes this story REALLY about: why has Chris Matthews suddenly become curious? Why has Matthews apparently decided that being tied to the Progressive wolfbane of “birther” no longer is any big deal? Does it all have to do with Neil Abercrombie’s peculiar statements?
As Allahpundit [Chris Matthews and liberal panelists: Where’s the birth certificate?] put it: “You bought the ticket, Neil Abercrombie. Enjoy the ride.”
Which brings to mind the second story: that of Hawaii’s new governor, Neil Abercrombie.

As LBG discovered in an earlier post today, Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie Adds Fuel to Obama Birth Certificate Fire, Neil Abercrombie was TIME’s go-to guy for Obamabilia back in April 2008.
On April 9, 2008, TIME published The Story of Barack Obama’s Mother. TIME magazine managed to find only one person for the interview who knew both of Barack Obama’s parents, Neil Abercrombie.
Here we are almost two years later and guess who’s the governor of Hawaii? Neil Abercrombie! Son of a gun! Only now, he remembers seeing Barack Sr. and Obama’s mother with “their child at social events.”
Abercrombie surely knew that he would have had to have seen the happy Obama family within a two-week window: Stanley Ann Dunham was enrolled in classes in Washington state 15 days after Barack Obama was born. Obama Sr. left Hawaii in July of the next year, while Ann Dunham was still a student on the mainland.
So, Neil Abercrombie was one serendipitous guy: he happened to be at those “social events” in that fortuitous window. But, Abercrombie has to be aware of how far-fetched his timeline appears–and, also aware that that others would be aware of it: it’s a matter of what little public record is available for our most private of presidents.
Abercrombie is the author of another queer quote: “Maybe I’m the only one in the country that can look you in the eye and say that I was here when that baby was born.” What does that even mean? Why is he the only one in the country? How odd.
Also odd: why is Abercrombie bringing up the subject of Obama’s birth certificate now–and doing so with quotes sure to invite more speculation?
It’s amazing the discussion that can be sparked by a couple of Progressives with platforms. If only that would have occurred back in 2008…
And why is this discussion even being held? There’s absolutely no reason for it: Barack Obama–like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz–has always had the power click his heels three times and make the whole issue disappear. (Okay, so there was no way I could work “I want to go home” into the previous thought. Sue me.)
The entire discussion, it’s timing and the reason for it are beyond absurd.
Which brings us to another point: from the beginning, anyone who exhibited any curiosity about such a mundane matter got tagged with the very latest in PC though control: the infamous “birther.”
Inconvenient, unanswered questions? Shout “BIRTHER!” and end the debate.
Just like “CONSPIRACY THEORIST!”
Just like shouting “NAZI!”
Just like “shouting TRUTHER!”
Just like “RACIST!”
It’s Godwin for Dummies. It’s also as passé as Ché. Tactics are most effective when the other side isn’t aware of them.. That’s why PC is so 1980s college campus: most who are serious immediately see the game and call BS.
It’s also a tired tactic. The repeated use of “racist” by the Left to describe the concerns of the Tea Party cheapened the term–and the tactic.
“BIRTHER!”, however, is used at least as much by conservative writers as by Progressives–maybe that’s the reason it’s not been called out as an attempt to limit the debate. That doesn’t make it any less of a garden variety politically correct trick resorted to by those too lazy to address the issue; it shorthand for “I don’t have time or inclination to seriously address the points of the matter.”
Why argue the merits when it’s much easier and quicker to substitute smug arrogance and a handy pejorative for what’s sure to be tedious research.
It’s so easy, anyone can do it–and boy, have they!
Instead of writing, “I’m busy and have a lot of other issues occupying my time,”–or taking a pass altogether–why do some pundits feel compelled to throw a headline, a link and a suitable derogatory adjective for “BIRTHER!” together on the subject as a substitute for reasoned thought?
Actually, it makes them sound like they’re a card-carrying member of the MSM. Speech codes are coming under increased fire on college campuses, but they’re alive and well in the media–and “BIRTHER!” is evidence of it!
CHALLENGE #1: next time you’re about to write “BIRTHER!”, substitute the word “RACIST!” and read it back. Does it sound silly? It should.
CHALLENGE #2: next time you’re filled with the righteous anger that comes only from well-meaning people beomg smeared with the “RACIST!” label, substitute the word “BIRTHER!” in the the offensive article. Are you still angry?
You should be–because it’s the same Thought Control PC tactic used successfully for years by Progressives. Why have a discussion when you can avoid it altogether with one little word. “NAZI!” works well here as well.
Also, “CONSPIRACY THEORIST!” For 10 months, that was one of the favorite phrases used to describe this writer when the new blackout was underway over all things John Edwards Scandal. It enough to make one believe that one definition of a conspiracy theorist might be “one who is better informed.”
Don’t present counter arguments, present scorn. Don’t answer inconvenient information, ridicule it.
Saul Alinsky would approve–even if he would be a bit disappointed at the moment by Chris Matthews and Neil Abercrombie.
[NOTE: There is a minority who use 'birther' as a neural descriptive term--just as there are those who use racist, Nazi, conspiracy theorist and truther. This post was not referring to that small group.]

Obama’s Kenyan grandmother NEVER said that he was born in Kenya. She said repeatedly in the taped interview that he was born in Hawaii, where his father was studying at the time. And, she said in another interview that the first that her family in Kenya had heard of Obama’s birth was in a letter from Hawaii.
IF a person were born in Kenya, she or he would need a US travel document to get to the USA. That would be either a US visa on a foreign passport or the change to his mother’s US passport to include him. One or the other would have had to have been applied for at a US Consulate in Kenya and granted before the child would be allowed to enter the USA.
If such a document existed, it would be easy to find because the records of the application for the visa or for the change to the mother’s passport would still be in the files of the US State Department, filed under applications for visas and applications for changes to passports in Kenya in 1961. The constitution states (Article 2, Section 1): No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
A natural born citizen must be the child of a father and mother both of whom are citizens of the United States.
Obama’s father was a citizen of the UK and was never a citizen of the United States thus, based on the above quotes from the Constitution, Obama could not qualify to be President of the United States.
I don’t think that it could be more clear Obama does not meet the conditions set forth in the Constitution to be President. I assume at some time in the future the Congress of the United States will eventually overcome their fear of Obama, will investigate the circumstance of Obama’s birth and finally impeach Obama.

Who told you this? It is wrong. The reason that the US Congress voted to confirm Obama’s election UNANIMOUSLY is that not one single member agrees with your definition of a Natural Born Citizen. The original meaning of Natural Born, the one that applies to Obama, is simply “born in the country”–which Obama was, in Hawaii, as his official birth certificate and the repeated confirmations of the officials in Hawaii show.

The questions about the bith certificate are surfacing now because they’ve had 2 years and $2m to get it professsionally faked and inserted into the Hawaii records vault.
Still doesn’t answer the question though.. even if BHO was born in Hawaii, that doesn’t convey citizenship to a foriegn national.

I am NOT a birther, I am however curious as to why Mr. Obama and/or other electedand and/or appointed offficials as well as those in the position of or with ability to produce a simple public record as a birth certificate are unable, unwilling, or refuse to allow others to do this simple task. Also curiuous as to why any of his schoolrecords are so secret since both Bush and Kerry in the last election revealed all of these National secrets to the media and public. Remember how stupid Bush was? Oh thats right he and Kerry had very similar grades etc.

As I was writing my first querry it occured to me that MY own daughter was born at home, but due to the paperwork hastle that we would have gone through we went to the hospital for the night and her birth certificate indicates she was in fact born at the hospital. Again I am Not a birther simply curious about so much ado about so little

Answer: Actually, neither of them did. Bush’s Yale record was leaked by a source at Yale, but Bush did not release it. Kerry’s grades emerged from a FOIA request to the Army years after the election. No president has ever released detailed college records (a few released grade-point averages), and none has released the high school, grammar school and Kindergarten records that some birthers are asking for. If in the next election the Republican candidate shows her or his records, Obama is likely to to the same.

You need to do a bit more research on presidents releasing their grades.
ALSO: Obama has NOT released anything official as pertains to his birth certificate. In fact, the State of Hawaii itself doesn’t even accept the Certificate of Live Birth for many identification purposes.
I wonder why it is that we have to be “reassured” by “officials” that everything is in order–all the while Obama has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to make sure that it isn’t produced in a neutral court of law. Next time I’m asked to produce my birth certificate, I’ll see if an “assurance” will do.
I mean, it’s been two years…he’d have had time to forge a passable document in that time. It seems it would have been more cost effective as well. The purpose of the post wasn’t to emphasize the chicanery on this issue that’s existed since 2008. It was to highlight the tricks used to stifle discussion of the issue.

Answer: Where did you get that crazy idea from. The Certification of Live Birth is the OFFICIAL birth certificate of Hawaii, and it is the only one that Hawaii has issued since 2001. THOUSANDS of people in Hawaii use it every year to get drivers licenses and THOUSANDS of people in Hawaii use it every year to get their US passports.

Answer: There was NEVER a lawsuit against Obama just for the birth certificate. NEVER.

THIN AIR. Yes, there were lawsuits against Obama to stop the election, but Obama had every right to fight them. And he has every right to fight lawsuits that demand his parents’ marriage license (because no president has ever shown it) or for that matter his passport or his college transcripts–because no president has ever shown them either. He and future presidents have the right NOT to show such documents unless and until the USA gets around to passing a law that says that they must. IF in the next election the Republican candidate shows his transcript, then Obama probably would do so too.

Answer: How about the guy who claimed to go to Kenya and to have bribed officials and got a “birth certificate” and it was found to be forged in about 33 minutes (and, by the way, the guy was a convicted felon)? That was a TRICK. And how about the claims on some birther sites that Obama’s grandmother said that he was born in Kenya, when she actually said repeatedly that he was born in Hawaii in the taped interview, and in another interview said that the first that her family in Kenya had heard of Obama’s birth was in a letter FROM HAWAII. The birther sites that said that she had said Kenya were lying, TRICKING.
The reason that the US congress voted to confirm Obama’s election UNANIMOUSLY is that not one single member believed that Obama was born anywhere else than Hawaii, and not one single member believed that the citizenship of Obama’s father has any effect on Obama’s Natural Born Status.

You’re a sly one. No one has called for Obama to release his “high school grades”–with the exception of dis-information specialists such as yourself.
As for the Certifcition of Live Birth (the document released by Obama according to Wikipedia):

DHHL, the Department of Hawaiian Homelands, accepts the official Certification of Live Birth as proof of birth in Hawaii, like all the other departments in Hawaii, and as the US State Department and the branches of the US military do too. The Certification of Live Birth is the official and only birth certificate that Hawaii has issued since 2001.
At one time, DHHL–whose job is to give away free or low-cost land to persons of Hawaiian racial background–said that it preferred the original birth certificate, which some people still have from the time of their birth. But, for people who have lost the original, it accepts the new short-form certification and will try to find other documents that will confirm the racial background of the applicant. The Certification of Live Birth is the official birth certificate.

Notice where it says that there is an original birth certificate filed. Well, in 1961 foreign birth certificates, even those from other states, could not be filed in Hawaii. So the birth certificate in Obama’s files must be a Hawaii birth certificate.

Notice where it says that the document in the files VERIFIES that Obama was born in Hawaii. So, not only is there an official Hawaiian birth certificate in the files, but it says right on it that Obama was born in Hawaii. Hawaii has never allowed the Department of Health to issue a birth document of any kind that says on it that anyone was born in Hawaii unless there was proof that the child was born in Hawaii, and that is what the officials in Hawaii have confirmed twice.
And here is the confirmation by the governor of Hawaii, Linda Lingle, a Republican, that says that Obama was born in Hawaii, in Kapiolani Hospital

Answer: At one time, DHHL–whose job is to give away free or low-cost land to persons of Hawaiian racial background–said that it preferred the original birth certificate, which some people still have from the time of their birth. But, for people who have lost the original, it accepts the new short-form certification and will try to find other documents that will confirm the racial background of the applicant. The Certification of Live Birth is the official birth certificate.

For Obama to have been born in any other country than the USA requires the combination of:
(1) Travel by his mother during late pregnancy (highly unlikely because of the high expense and high risk of such a trip in 1961);
(2) Birth outside of Hawaii (also unlikely);
(3) Birth abroad despite the absence of any foreign documents or photographs showing either that Obama was born in a foreign country or that his mother was in the country at the time (highly unlikely);
(4) The willingness of the parents to lie about his place of birth (unlikely since it would be a crime to file a false government document, and the lie would be unnecessary since for most purposes naturalizing a foreign-born child would be just as good as his being born in the country);
(5) Successfully smuggling the child into the USA without a US travel document (extremely unlikely), and;
(6) Convincing the officials in Hawaii that he was born in Hawaii (also extremely unlikely).
ALL of these six things would be required for there to be a reasonable case that he was born in any other country than the USA. What are the odds of all six of them happening?
The willingness to believe that Obama was born outside of the USA despite the overwhelming odds against it and despite all the evidence that he was born in Hawaii is why Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly all call birthers crazy.
