Oil Rig Explosion Doomsday Sign For Believers of Giant Methane Bubble Explosion and Gulf of Mexico Impending Doom?
Chain email warns Methane Bubble To Explode, Destroy Gulf Region
If the huge methane bubble breaches the seabed, it will erupt with an explosive fury similar to that experienced during the eruption of Mt. Saint Helens in the Pacific Northwest. A gas gusher will surge upwards through miles of ancient sedimentary rock—layer after layer—past the oil reservoir. It will explode upwards propelled by 50 tons psi, burst through the cracks and fissures of the compromised sea floor, and rupture miles of ocean bottom with one titanic explosion. The burgeoning methane gas cloud will surface, killing everything it touches, and set off a supersonic tsunami with the wave traveling somewhere between 400 to 600 miles per hour.
Helium.com, How the ultimate BP Gulf disaster could kill millions
A few days ago we received an email, the kind forwarded by “concerned” individuals. This particular email, in a way, related to the Vermilion oil rig explosion which occurred today in the Gulf of Mexico and the BP Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion, the worst oil spill in history which began on April 20th when the Deepwater Horizon platform exploded unleashing oil mixed with high levels of methane into the Gulf. The email contained a prophesy, a warning of a “Methane Bubble To Explode, Destroy Gulf Region”
The message in the email:
Please take this warning seriously and forward it to anyone you know in the Gulf region. I have also included links to some very shocking information at the end of this message.
Part of the email, a prophesy “witnessed, dictated and recorded this 29th day of August, 2010, Linda Newkirk”
A quote from the “prophesy”:
“My Little One, do you know why I took the great dragon from the Gulf of Mexico; and do you know why I placed the three giant, geographical angels into the great crevice, which now appears on the Gulf floor?”
“My Lord, I believe You did these things for this reason: A friend and I prayed that you would not yet allow the great methane bubble to be released from beneath the floor of the earth. For, My Lord, we are told that this methane bubble is the size of Mount Everest and that if it ruptures, it will cause a great tidal wave, which will flood the Gulf Coastal areas. Also, my Lord, since a great fire is roaring on the ocean as British Petroleum is burning much of the oil and methane, which surfaces, this great methane bubble is sure to ignite and to cause a roaring fire and explosion! This great explosion will move inland to burn up and destroy much of the coastline, and along with it will come a great tidal wave, which will bring an even greater destruction!
Since we’re into weird news, we did some research related to a giant methane gas bubble in the Gulf of Mexico and why people were forwarding the email. Using Google we searched for “Gulf of Mexico methane gas bubble”. The first link on the Google search page, Huffington post.
At Huffington Post we discovered:
Editor’s Note: This post has been removed from the Huffington Post.
The article was posted at Huffington Post, June 21, 2010. A post which, on the HuffPo page, 5,119 people at Facebook gave the missing article a thumbs up. Over two thousand people on Facebook shared the article. The article, retweeted 918 times.
On May 9, 2010, the Daily Mail, Methane gas bubble triggered Gulf oil rig blast that killed 11.
The Gulf of Mexico oil rig disaster was caused by a bubble of methane gas that shot oil 240ft into the air while BP executives were on board celebrating the platform’s safety record.
The highly combustible gas burst through several seals and barriers before exploding, according to interviews with rig workers conducted during BP’s internal investigation.
Eleven workers were killed and more than three million gallons of crude oil have been discharged into the sea since the blast last month.
On June 21, Politics Daily posted Could Gulf Oil Leak Lead to Methane-Bubble Tsunami? BP Responds:
It’s not just the crude that is causing problems in the gulf oil spill: Another petroleum byproduct, natural gas, is reported to be leaking in much greater concentrations than previously thought. And not only could the gas be suffocating sea life, but a new analysis warns that a giant, 1,000-year-old methane bubble could soon explode, taking out miles and miles of the ocean floor and causing a violent oil spill tsunami that would threaten the entire gulf coastline.
How credible is this new threat? Surge Desk breaks it down:
The Surge Desk–highly ironic name for debunking a tsunami doomsday scenario–found the methane was “highly combustible”, oil leaking from the well, 40% methane, an AP report, the methane in the oil, a greater concentration than the typical 5% found in oil deposits, and, scientists observing the methane was “10,000 higher than normal”.
The Surge Desk added the “worst case scenario” by DK Matai at Huffington Post with a link to the page at Huffington Post where Huffpo had removed Matai’s post.
What had Matai written at Huffington Post, a post which the editors’ removed?
Surge Desk:
“The possibility of a “massive bubble trapped for thousands of years under the Gulf of Mexico sea floor” exploding and setting off a “tsunami [traveling] at a high speed of hundreds of miles per hour.”
Matai continues:
Florida might be most exposed to the fury of a tsunami wave. The entire Gulf coastline would be vulnerable, if the tsunami is manifest. Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and southern region of Georgia might experience the effects of the tsunami according to some sources.
He also warns of a “second tsunami via vaporization.” This could result after the initial explosion displaced all the oil, gas and water around it, producing a gigantic, extremely hot (300-degree Fahrenheit) cavity, which would vaporize all the incoming water, turning it into steam and causing another rupture in the gulf floor. He notes that as time goes on and the gulf well remains unplugged, the “risk increases.”
The “expert” Surge Desk spoke with to debunk Matai’s claims: BP America spokesman Robert Wine.
Robert Wine:
“Of course there’s natural gas down there. That’s what’s coming up, that’s what we’ve been burning this whole time. It’s what caused the explosion in the first place, after all, so where does this idea of another bubble or explosion come from? It is a bit difficult to comment on the claims of unspecified geologists.”
In their debunking article, the Surge Desk didn’t seek out any info from geologists on whether there was a giant methane gas bubble lurking beneath the Gulf of Mexico.
Another source, Helium.com, How the ultimate BP Gulf disaster could kill millions:
More than 12 months ago some geologists rang the warning bell that the Deepwater Horizon exploratory rig might have been erected directly over a huge underground reservoir of methane.
Documents from several years ago indicate that the subterranean geologic formation may contain the presence of a huge methane deposit.
None other than the engineer who helped lead the team to snuff the Gulf oil fires set by Saddam Hussein to slow the advance of American troops has stated that a huge underground lake of methane gas—compressed by a pressure of 100,000 pounds per square inch (psi)—could be released by BP’s drilling effort to obtain the oil deposit.
Current engineering technology cannot contain gas that is pressurized to 100,000 psi.
By some geologists’ estimates the methane could be a massive 15 to 20 mile toxic and explosive bubble trapped for eons under the Gulf sea floor. In their opinion, the explosive destruction of the Deepwater Horizon wellhead was an accident just waiting to happen.
Helium posted a highly informative article, including:
Evidence of fissures opening up on the seabed have been captured by the robotic submersibles working to repair and contain the ruptured well. Smaller, independent plumes have also appeared outside the nearby radius of the bore hole itself.
According to some geological experts, BP’s operations set into motion a series of events that may be irreversible.
After reading Helium’s well-written and researched article, it’s seem there’s scientific legitimacy to the doomsday scenario in the email. An email which contained a doomsday prophesy. What’s truly intriguing, the investigation into the BP Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion, an investigation being held by an Obama appointed commission. A commission, which, so far, hasn’t mentioned a methane gas reservoir beneath the Gulf of Mexico. The Obama commission allowing BP to permanently seal the well. The same company whose deep water drilling caused deep concerns from geologists about the feasibility of drilling in the Gulf.
