This week, the focus of the MSM, the controversial proposed Koran burning by Pastor Terry Jones in Gainesville, Florida. Unnoticed, or unreported by the MSM, a story from Pakistan involving a Pakistani Minister, an Ayatullah, calling for President Obama to say Muslim holy prayers at Ground Zero on 911. For those unfamiliar with Islam, the title ‘Ayatullah’ is the Islam equivalent of a Catholic bishop or Cardinal. According to the Minister, Obama saying Muslim holy prayers at Ground Zero on 911, marking the Muslim holiday of Eid, Eid Ul-Fitr, would earn Obama the title of Amir-ul-Momineen or Caliph of Muslims. Obama, “in this way, all the problems of Muslim World would be saved”.

The Nation:

Minister of State for Industries and former member Pakistan Ideological Council Ayatullah Durrani called TheNation on Wednesday to register his demand made to President Obama.

“The coming Eid would expectedly be observed on 9/11, this a golden opportunity for President Obama to offer Eid prayers at Ground Zero and become Amir-ul-Momineen or Caliph of Muslims. In this way, all the problems of Muslim World would be solved,” he thought.

Durrani argued that Muslim World was in “dire need” of a Caliph and the distinguished slot of Caliphate would earn President Obama the exemplary titles of what he termed, “Mullah Barrack Hussain Obama” or “Allama Obama.” “The time is approaching fast. Barrack Hussain Obama must act now. This is a golden opportunity, Muslims badly need it,” he added, saying that the elevation of President Obama to Muslim’s Caliphate would be the “key to success.”

An Amir-ul-Momineen:

Am?r al-Mu’min?n, latinized as Miramolinus, hence Italian Miramolino and Spanish Miramamolín) usually translated Commander of the Faithful or Leader of the Faithful, is the Arabic style of Caliphs and other independent sovereign Muslim rulers that claim legitimacy from a community of Muslims. It has been claimed as the title of rulers in Muslim countries and empires and is still used for some Muslim leaders.

A Caliph:

Caliphs were often also referred to as Am?r al-Mu’min?n, “Commander of the Faithful”, Imam al-Ummah, Imam al-Mu’min?n , or more colloquially, leader of the Muslims.

Yesterday, during a press conference in the White House East Room, President Obama defended the right of Muslims to build a controversial mosque near Ground Zero. Today, on the ninth anniversary of 911, Obama plans to return to the Pentagon for the Pentagon’s 911 memorial service. The second year in row Obama has chosen the Pentagon versus attending the 911 memorial service at Ground Zero. Some members of the press wondering if Obama is avoiding the anti-Ground Zero mosque protesters. Perhaps, but there could be another reason why President Obama isn’t going to Ground Zero, the Pakistani newspaper report on September 2, the report the Minister of State of Industries Ayatullah Durrani called up the paper demanding the paper report Durrani’s call for Obama to say Muslim prayers on 911 at Ground Zero, Obama saying the prayers, Obama earning the title of Caliph. The Pakistani newspaper, The Nation, filing the report.

Five days after The Nation published the article, the White House announced Obama would attend the 911 memorial service at the Pentagon.

What’s also intriguing, the fact neither Obama or First Lady Michelle have visited Ground Zero since the election. Obama, during the election, attended a 2008 911 memorial service with McCain, McCain’s wife Cindy and Mayor Bloomberg. Questions were raised on 911 by the public asking where was Michelle? Later during the day, ABC’s Jake Tapper reported Why Wasn’t Michelle Obama at the 9/11 Ceremony?:

UPDATE: As has been pointed out elsewhere, Michelle Obama did do some campaigning this week, in Indiana and Ohio. How does that fit in with the campaign’s explanation that she was too busy to attend the 9/11 ceremony because this was Sasha and Malia’s first week of school? I asked the campaign and will get back to you when and if it responds.

UPDATE 2: Here’s the fuller explanation of everything. Michelle Obama’s itinerary is scheduled well in advance to juggle childcare responsibilities and campaign duties, as she is the primary caregiver for the Obamas’ young daughters. She regularly only travels two to three days a week with only one overnight away every so often from home.

Unless we missed the report, we couldn’t find any info of Michelle Obama finding the time to visit Ground Zero after the election. Last year, Michelle attended the Pentagon 911 Memorial service with Obama. This year, First Lady Michelle plans to travel with former First Lady Laura Bush to the Flight 93 Shanksville, PA, “Crescent of Embrace” memorial park to attend the 911 memorial service.

We’ve also been unable to find any reports of Obama visiting Ground Zero after the election. This year, Obama opting to return to the Pentagon, which, according to news reports, will be “private service“. The private service ending at 12 noon. The distance between the Pentagon and Manhattan, the location of Ground Zero, 210 miles. Fairly doable in Air Force One, if one wanted to visit both the Pentagon and Ground Zero to pay their respects on 911.

We did find a report of Obama and Michelle having a New York City date night, dinner and the theater. Obama and Michelle’s route ‘past’ Ground Zero:

President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama landed in New York Saturday afternoon, and after taking a helicopter from JFK into Manhattan, drove up the West Side Highway, where the northbound lanes were shut down by police for their visit, past Ground Zero, into the Village for dinner at the Village’s Blue Hill restaurant. From there, they went north to Times Square, where they went to to see a production of “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” at the Belasco Theater on West 44 Street.

Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest read a statement from Obama: “I am taking my wife to New York City because I promised her during the campaign that I would take her to a Broadway show after it was all finished.”

One month earlier, Obama’s Air Force One plane flying near Ground Zero, scaring the hell out of frightened residents of Manhattan:

On Monday morning, one of the 747s used to ferry around the U.S. president was dispatched to the Statue of Liberty, escorted by a fighter jet. Assignment: Get some fresh glamour shots of the plane.

The Air Force said the flight needed to remain confidential. So while New York police knew about it, as did at least one person in the mayor’s office, regular New Yorkers remained in the dark. As a result, to onlookers Monday all across downtown Manhattan — where the World Trade Center once stood — the photo shoot looked like a terrorist attack. People watched in horror as a massive aircraft, trailed closely by an F-16 fighter jet, banked and roared low near the city, in a frightening echo of the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

Fearing the worst, thousands of people streamed out of the skyscrapers and into the streets. Some buildings ordered evacuations. “Oh God, it was mayhem in here, just mayhem,” says Rubin Shimon, manager of Styling Haircutters, a barbershop near Ground Zero. Many people took shelter in the shop to call loved ones on their cellphones.

While Michelle has yet to visit Ground Zero, today she’s traveling with Laura Bush to Shanksville, PA, to the Flight 93 memorial in Shanksville, PA., the ‘Crescent of Embrace’ which, ironically, has its own Muslim controversy.
