Mayor Michael Bloomberg: A DhimmiGogue Presiding Over a City of Bigots

NYC’s Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, scolds his constituents for their opposition to the Ground Zero mosque. In the Mayor’s eyes, they are bigots. Bloomberg appears to be a hypocritical DhimmiGogue surrounded by a sea of bigotry. Another Tale of the Ruling Elite.

Last week, NYC’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg spoke to the peasants about the proposed mosque at Ground Zero and rendered his verdict.

Bloomberg presides over a city of bigots.

Last Tuesday, standing in front of the Statue of Liberty, New York mayor Michael Bloomberg spoke on the subject of the proposed mosque at Ground Zero. His remarks will be read with curiosity by future generations of Americans, who will look back in astonishment at the self-deluding pieties and self-destructive dogmas that are held onto, at once smugly and desperately, by today’s liberal elites. Our liberation from those dogmas, and from those elites, is underway across the nation. But it’s worth taking a look at Bloomberg’s speech, if only to remind us of what we need to ascend from so our descendants can look back with curiosity at the ethos to which we did not succumb.

As is the way of contemporary liberals, Bloomberg spoke at a very high level of abstraction. He appealed to the principle of religious toleration, while never mentioning the actual imam who is responsible for and would control the planned Ground Zero mosque. To name Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf might invite a consideration of his background, funding, and intentions. Do Rauf and his backers believe in the principles underlying the “inspiring symbol of liberty” that greets immigrants to the United States and before which Bloomberg stood? Bloomberg didn’t say. It apparently doesn’t matter. Toleration means asking nothing, criticizing nothing, saying nothing, about whom or what one is tolerating. This is the Sergeant Schultz standard of toleration: I know nothing.

The New York Post called Bloomberg the “Mosque Nanny.”

It’s one thing for Mayor Bloomberg to play nanny and hector New Yorkers about smoking and trans fats, as he never stops doing. But it’s quite another for him to grab the flag and start scolding foes of that planned mosque near Ground Zero, as he did Friday.

The mayor was way, way out of line.

“A handful of people ought to be ashamed of themselves,” he huffed.

Well, we know one person who should be ashamed: him.

Bloomberg got downright apocalyptic, calling the controversy “[as] important [a] test of the separation of church and state . . . as we may see in our lifetimes.”

Bloomberg wants to tell New Yorkers how to eat, what to eat, how much to eat: in short, the Mayor wants to involve himself and his city regulators into the most intimate aspects of city residents’ lives when it comes to food.

But, when the subject is the Ground Zero mosque, Bloomberg experiences a sudden attack of laissez faire. Can’t ask questions, doesn’t want to know, don’t tell me, it’s not my business.

How about the Mayor apply this sudden hands-off attitude to the rest of his policies? But he won’t; Bloomberg is very much a Ruling Elite.

Consistency is for the little people; no “little hobgoblins” for His Honor. The Mayor will pick and choose the correct way to address each individual regulation, not as his constituents and their families see it, but as he–and he alone-sees fit.

In this, Bloomberg is a hypocrite–in the middle of his self-proclaimed city of bigots.

In the unequaled word of iMaksim, Bloomberg is a DhimmiGouge.
