Jake and Vienna ABC Bachelorette Interview: He Said, She Said
Claims and counterclaims of cause of bust-up between Reality TV Former Lovebirds, Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi
The week beginning June 21, 2010, was a busy one for gossip mags, ABC, and ABC’s The Bachelor former fairytale lovebirds Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi. A week which began with Jake and Vienna announcing they’d split on June 22 and a call for the couple’s “privacy”.
The ABC reality show The Bachelor aired on March 1st its fairytale ending episode and the Final Rose proposal from Jake “the Pilot” Pavelka, 32, to Vienna Girardi, 24. Four months and 5 days later, ABC is set to air the unhappy ever after ending on tonight’s episode of the The Bachelorette with a Chris Harrison interview between Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi. An interview which was secretly prerecorded one day after Jake and Vienna announced their split on June 22.
The following is timeline and breakdown of the Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi split and the , “he said, she said” claims.
On June 22, Jake and Vienna’s rep announced the former ABC lovebirds “had split”:
“Jake and Vienna have split,†confirmed Janice Lee, the once couple’s rep. “They appreciate the respect for their privacy at this time!â€
Jake and Vienna’s rep didn’t give the “reasons” behind the breakup.
One day prior to the official announcement, on June 22, Radar reported Jake and Vienna had been “secretly broken up for the past month”.
According to sources, Jake and Vienna “pretended” they were still together–including a trip to Hawaii–in order for Jake to land a TV deal. One week before the announcement of the split, Jake landed a guest star gig on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva.

On June 22, Reality TV World reported:
Rumors of a spilt first surfaced on Saturday at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County Oncology Prom near Los Angeles when Girardi allegedly told actor Gregory Michael that her engagement to Pavelka was off.
“We hit it off and hung out and danced the night away,” Michael told OK! about Girardi. “She made it very clear that it was over with Jake.”
On June 22, Radar reported the official split and:
As RadarOnline.com was first to report, issues emerged in Jake and Vienna’s romance not soon after the final rose was handed out.
Jake contacted his ex-girlfriend the day after taping wrapped, a source told RadarOnline.com in March.
He tried to convince his ex-girlfriend that he still loved her and the women on the show  including Vienna  meant nothing to him, the source added.But despite the relationship road-bump, the couple gushed about impending wedding bliss. “It’s a giant love story,” Jake said in March, before turning to Vienna on television and proclaiming: “You’re my best friend in the whole world — and that’s the most important thing to me.”
Just last month, Girardi, 24, had gushed about a possible summer wedding next year, preferably on the beach or on an island somewhere.
The same day Jake and Vienna’s rep announced the split and “asked for privacy”, Star Magazine published an interview with Vienna:
In an intense, emotional conversation filled with lots of tears, the 24-year-old Florida native tells Star that during their first month together they couldn’t keep their hands off each other, they soon developed major intimacy issues.
“We haven’t been intimate in months now,” Vienna reveals. “More than four months. At first his excuse was that he was fasting. The second excuse was that he didn’t feel like it. And the third excuse was that he said that he felt that I wouldn’t understand that he wants to wait until marriage, even though I told him I’d support him. Then the last excuse was that we fight so much that I push him away. I was like, really — which excuse is it? I literally have been living six months with this guy who won’t be intimate with me!”
In the Star Magazine interview Vienna claimed Jake told Vienna “premarital sex was sin”. That Jake’s ambition was acting.
She called his lack of physical affection “emotionally abusive.â€
And while Jake showed no sexual ambition (at least with Vienna) she was also surprised that his true ambition was acting. “He lied to me! We never talked about it,†Vienna told Star about Jake’s sudden announcement that he wanted to live in Los Angeles to pursue acting.
On June 23, Radar reported a source close to Vienna, claimed Vienna said “I don’t think Jake is into girls.”
“Even though she was in love with him, she knew he didn’t love her, †a source claims.
Vienna eventually came to the conclusion that the real reason for Jake’s aversion to intimacy with her was not his religious ideals but his lack of interest in women. “He just wasn’t ever physical with her,†the source added. “Vienna told me, ‘I don’t think Jake is into girls.’â€
On June 24, Radar reported a source close to Jake claimed Jake was “in it for the fame”.
“He tried to tell himself he loved [Vienna], but he did it for the fame,†the source said. Jake has claimed publicly that a big reason he and Vienna split was the lack of support she gave him, but the source says it was Jake who showed little interest in the relationship.
“She was trying to be a loving, second half to him but he didn’t reciprocate,†the source said. “She wanted a real relationship but he wanted an arm doll and a fake life for publicity.â€
On June 23, Jake appeared on the cover of People Magazine along with Jake’s counterclaims.
Jake claimed he broke up with Vienna on Monday, June 21st, by phone, while Jake was busy in Atlanta filming Drop Dead Diva.
Troubled by what he termed “trust issues” with Vienna, 24, Jake says he broke up with her in a phone call Monday night.
“I’ve been trying to put all that aside so that I can give this character justice,” he says. “It’s been a struggle thinking about my relationship and going in front of the camera and shooting.”
He also acknowledges, “It was a difficult conversation on the phone. But the relationship was headed in that direction.”
In the People Magazine online edition, dated June 23, Jake claimed he had “trust issues” with Vienna.
Breaking his silence following his breakup with fiancée Vienna Giraradi, The Bachelor’s Jake Pavelka tells PEOPLE that trouble had been brewing in the relationship for a while, and that there were “a lot of red flags” along the way.
He also denies reports that Girardi was unfaithful, but says there were serious “trust issues” between them.
On the same day People Magazine published online Jake’s version of the split, one day after Star Magazine published Vienna’s claims of why she broke up with Jake, ABC got Vienna and Jake together for the interview with Chris Harrison, host of ABC’s The Bachelor and The Bachelorette series.
Radar, June 24th:
The Bachelor turned into The Monster when he was reunited with Vienna Girardi on Wednesday to secretly tape a segment for ABC, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.
Jake Pavelka exploded in anger at Vienna and at one point during their volatile get-together he turned toward her and pulled his arm back while making a fist. It was a shocking display that left some people believing Jake was getting ready to throw a punch, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told RadarOnline.com.
And it left Vienna in tears.
On June 30, Radar reported:
One friend estimated he spent tens of thousands of dollars on Vienna during their short-lived engagement.
“Jake paid for everything during the relationship,” said a confidante.
“He paid for their apartment, car, credit cards, bills, her flights and travel expenses… Vienna leached off him.
On June 30, Radar reported Vienna’s stepmother stating, “He’s a liar!”, and, “It’s all a lie!”.
“He hasn’t spent thousands on Vienna,†Lisa Girardi told RadarOnline.com exclusively. “He doesn’t have a fortune to spend,
“ABC paid for their apartment and their one car while Jake was on Dancing With the Stars.â€
Lisa also said that Jake spent his money
on paying his people, like a publicist and agent and supporting his business at home, not paying for things for Vienna. She added that Vienna didn’t receive any payments from being on The Bachelor. “She was never paid by ABC,†her stepmom said.

I feel for Vienna. She seemed genuine to me and he obiviously has interest in trying to be perceived as the cool, calm and collected one since he is going to be on the upcoming Bachelor Pad reality show in August….until the end when he lost it and yelled at her. I read before, and now believe that he just had to stay with her until Dancing with the Stars was over, and that is exactly what happened. I agree, I think he must be gay.

I’ve always been a fan of Jake’s and had my doubts about Vienna. Tonight’s interview has changed my mind. I don’t know what Jake’s issues are, but he definitely has some. For the first time, I feel very sorry for Vienna. I hope she can find the strength to move forward and leave Jake behind.

I saw the interview and I have to side with Jake on this one. No wonder he didn’t want to sleep with her….. she’s a bitchy little suck that never shuts up. Why would you want to be with someone that turns on the water works the second she isn’t getting her way? Seriously she was acting like a little immature bitch. She sold her story to a tabloid that shows right there how selfish she is! Typical freeloader is what she is. Why would the people that know her best turn their back on her? Jake is soooo fake. He tries to play off the perfect “Mr.Nice guy” image, but in reality he is a creepy control freak ready to snap! In this interview he really freaked me out. Vienna, (whom I was never a fan of) actually seemed genuine and honest. She was speaking from the heart and her emotions seemed honest! She was clearly hurting… He on the other hand, maintained his un-natural cool as a cucumber behavior and obviously donesn’t give a crap about her BUT ABOUT HIS IMAGE AND ACTING CAREER! I agree with everyone here. I was a little unsure until I saw the interview and I think that Vienna seemed genuine… angry inside which is why I think she would interupt so much. She never had a voice and had to save face on public TV. What a hard think to face on TV but I think that she was genuine for sure and that Jake really was very controlling, self absorbed, possibly gay (not sure) but giving up sex… does make you wonder! Vienna put the past behind you and move on. The world saw who he was publicly and now they know why you left him! Stay strong and have faith

You cannot mask real emotion! I doubted nothing Vienna said this evening. She was transparent, honest, and hurt. What a glimpse of the real Jake we saw this evening. I hope she made out with $100,000 for selling her story, and I hope there is a sudden end to his acting career. I was never a Vienna fan, but her authenticity won me over tonight! So long Jake! You are a great person. I truly believe everything you said on your interview tonight. I think you’ll be surprized how many people believe you and don’t believe Jake. From the way Jake was behaving throughout the entire interview, I believe he is very capable of behaving with you as you said he did. It’s sad because I do believe he does think more of his acting career than a relationship. He does seem to be very controlling, and it is so much better for you to not ever go back to Jake. Keep movin on Vienna, you deserve to be happy with someone who really DOES care about you, AND you will find that person someday.

I’ve seen relationships just like this unfold in front of my eyes with a lot of the women friends I have in my life. It breaks my heart to see Vienna go through what she did. I’d like to break Jake’ nose for that B.S. he pulled right before Vienna became so rattled she left the interview. Jake you are a loser, fake. After tonight’s interview, I am sure Jake is GAY! From experience, (as a lesbian girl) I can totally relate to his behavior. In the first few months, he should be in the honey moon stage. Even if he argues at some point, there will be make up sex.
Obviously she chose Vienna for fame because she was the most controversial girl and that would make him famous. He wanted to be in magazines and articles… what better advertisement… what at P.O.S

Dear Judges: Perception is interesting. This is what i saw. Vienna was centre stage. Crying, having fits, and interpreting constantly. Why would she allow Jake to speak? He would tell the truth. The truth is these people were not compatible and the way in which they went about ending it was wrong, or rather the way she did. “I had no money” – talk to tabloids – “I needed a kiss” – find a new man. What did Jake do here? Apart from live life? Now the guys is “gay”? Come on. Vienna HAD to do this because she has been trashed already, her own doing not Jakes. She gets no sympathy here only pity. I hope Jake moves on now.

She got jeaouls because Jake got famous and she didn’t and she couldn’t handle it. She wanted to be all about her. I knew from moment I saw her on the Bachelor. jake is a narcissist he is abusive controlling and emotionally and mentally abusive.,. narcissists withold sex to torure and demean their partner and kp the control..they have no really capacity for intimacy and hate it and commitment and real love..they are incapable of it…he was arrogant and haughty and had no empathy at all.. he said he did nothing wrong and was just throwing word salad all ove rthe place to defend himself and was a liar the whole time…its scary cause it seriously affects a partner so much where she becomes a mess and looks like the unstable one, but he has every sign that he is pathogical.

Vienna was “all about ME!” She threw a tantrum and turned on the waterworks to make herself look good before running off. PUH-LEASE!
