An asteroid named 1999 RQ36, a 560 meters wide chunk of space rock is heading toward Earth.

An international team including NASA experts warned a 560m wide space rock has been discovered heading this way.
If it did hit Earth it would blast a crater several miles wide and could devastate a city the size of London, wreaking death and destruction for hundreds of miles in every direction.
Despite the breathless nature of the Sun‘s lede, the article goes on to report that, though the rock is on its way toward earth, there’s time to figure something out.
Anyone concerned by the warning has one thing to be thankful for — if it does hit it is most likely to happen in 2182.
That gives scientists 172 years to work out how to deal with it.
Scientists have labeled the asteroid, discovered in 1999, “1999 RQ36.”
ONE POSSIBLE SUGGESTION: By 2182, Big Government freaks might have worked out a way to tax asteroids–including 1999 RQ36.
Which surely will result in less of them heading toward earth.
IN the meantime, seems like there’s other, more pressing matters at hand.

Who is the chucklehead that put the sub-headings as if the asteroid was 560 miles wide?–it’s meters stupid! How could a 560 mile asteroid make a crater only several miles wide as the article states??

Good, I hope it does hit earth, but seriously it sucks that all the yummy huge asteroids (KM) only hits so far in the future. We ought to get a huge km NEO……NOW!!!! Kill off the celebrities and politicians.
