One senses that Al Gore senses that he’s not heard the last from those pesky reporters at the National Enquirer. Which might be one reason Gore ducked questions yesterday in San Diego.

We predicted yesterday that there were other shoes to drop in this story. The new issue of the National Enquirer hits big cities around the country tomorrow morning–so we don’t have long to wait.

GORE: “BYE! GOTTA RUN!”

Used to the Mainstream Media that’s given the former VP a pass on even his most outlandish climate claims, the Carbon Credit King took a rain check on the media during an appearance in San Diego on Monday.

Don Surber described Al’s actions as, “Big Al, aka Manbearpig, gave a speech and ducked the press in San Diego.”

Others were a bit more nuanced. From Former Vice President Gore Visits San Diego:

The San Diego Convention Center was packed with more than 11,000 human resource professionals as former Vice President Al Gore made a rare public appearance Monday.

Little has been seen of Gore in the past several weeks since confirmed reports of a split with his wife, Tipper, and after allegations surfaced that a 54-year-old masseuse in Oregon reported Gore made unwanted sexual advances toward her in 2006 and accused him of being “a crazed sex poodle.”

While 10News cameras were ushered out of the Convention Center by members of Gore’s camp prior to his speech, some in attendance spoke about the former vice president’s appearance at the annual convention for the Society of Human Resources Management.

The local TV station also noted that “Gore left the Convention Center without taking questions from the media.”

But of course! Questions from the media might lead to an Inconvenient Narrative. JWF notes, “If Al Gore were a Republican he’d have an army of media tailing his every move. But since he’s a hero to the left he gets to avoid even having to respond to allegations he’s an out of control crazed sex poodle.”

Which leads to the question: why did the Portland Tribune–which had knowledge of and confirmed that there was a police report sitting in their town with the words “Al Gore” and “Sex Abuse III” on it–pass on the story until its hand was forced by the National Enquirer?

The Al Gore police report is disturbing.

To be specific, it’s 67 pages of the quite graphically disturbing, as posted here by Red State.

You are reading the news of this police report — originally filed in October of 2006 — only because the National Enquirer scooped the story. In June of 2010. You did not read it in the Portland Tribune, which has been on this story since 2007 and failed to tell its readers until the Enquirer broke the story. The Tribune’s explanation for this is to be found here.

Lord says the Enquirer “scooped” the Portland Tribune, but is it a scoop when one party buries the story? To accomplish their scoop, all the Enquirer had to do was learn of the police report, verify it and then print it–over two years after the Tribune learned of the police report.

In essence, the Portland Tribune, like every single member of the Mainstream Media during the John Edwards’ Scandal self-scooped itself–by not reporting on news that was in their laps for months and months.

The Tribune should at least get an assist on the Enquirer’s scoop.

The question here is why didn’t the Portland Tribune publish what they had? Well, says the paper, all they had was an unverified police report. What is missed here is that a police report on a former Vice President of the United States — a man who has emerged even in political defeat as one of the most listened to voices on the planet on environmental issues and global warming — existed. The report itself existed. It was fact. And hence news.

Lord ties in four recent stories with one theme: Al Gore, Dave Weigel, Eliot Spitzer-Kathleen Parker’s CNN show and David Frum’s book party. The whole piece is worthwhile–especially to watchers of the MSM’s regular chicanery.

WILL ‘SEX-CRAZED POODLE’ EDGE OUT ‘CARBON CREDITS’ in THE GORE LEGACY?

One of the first pieces to point out that the massage therapist in Portland called Al Gore a “sex-crazed poodle” was Susannah Breslin’s Al Gore is a crazed sex poodle.

DNA?!? In my new eco-friendly world without polar bears there will be no DNA testing!”

Breslin begins:

It’s too bad that these days being accused of sexual assault is tantamount to being convicted of it. To hear that Al Gore — AL GORE??? — is the latest, er, victim of this phenomenon is simultaneously baffling and saddening. Not to mention weird, considering the tale involves a “crazed sex poodle.” And that poodle is Gore.

Although Breslin is highly skeptical of the massage therapist’s (and the Enquirer’s) claims, she admits it could have happened–but it’s not likely.

Frankly, I have no idea what the hell happened in that hotel room. If she was there. If Gore was there. If Al is, in fact, a crazed sex poodle. Anything is possible. Although, if she is telling the truth, she sure knows how to garble it and make it sound like a load of crap. I, myself, have lay upon many a massage table, and while I have never demanded release of my second chakra, I have talked to various women massage therapists about how they deal with situations like this, and never a one described anything remotely like this.

Guess Breslin’s gonna become a true believer if the National Enquirer does what any MSM organization could have done after learning of the Portland police report: go out and track down other women who’ve been Gored.

The Enquirer’s published a total of five stories on the Al Gore Sex Attack scandal–counting updates. If past performance is any indication, the tabloid’s not finished with the Father of the Internet.

GORE’S UNFORTUNATELY-TIMED FUND-RAISING LETTER FOR DCCC

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which apparently pays no attention to current events, just sent out a fundraising e-mail from Gore. Here’s a taste (emphasis Al’s):

House Republicans are actually campaigning on the promise to bring back the same failed policies and put in place some of the very same leaders that created this mess in the first place. And they are deadly serious.

Anyway, Al wants you to give the Democrats some of the money they haven’t taken from you already. That way the evil Republicans won’t get to do bad stuff again, like they did before Obama came along to fix everything, which will happen any minute now.

Stop it. Stop laughing at him. Can you prove Bush and Cheney aren’t responsible for the sexual assault claim against him? You can’t, can you? Didn’t think so, wingnut.

Guess the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee could have sent out a letter under John Edwards’ signature….

AND NOW A WORD FROM OUR EMAIL

A DBKP reader makes scores an important point in an email.

If Al Gore was innocent of the allegations, and he truly was blindsided, then he would NEVER have had a subsequent massage alone. Like a women visiting a gynecologist, THERE WOULD ALWAYS be someone discretely in the back of the room to protect against this very type of thing.

Since Al, I am sure, travels with security, it would not have been a big deal, to tell security to sit on a chair in the room, to protect against this type of charge in the future. IF HE WAS INNOCENT.

It’s a good point for a couple of reasons. Let’s look at Al Gore’s actions AFTER the Portland woman filed the police report.

He continued receiving massages; so many, in fact, that Tipper wasn’t amused. On June 15, 2010, the Enquirer reported that Tipper Gore was jealous of a “gorgeous massage therapist.” And since Al only saw the Portland accuser once, it had to be another massage therapist. One supposes that he was receiving massages from her…

“…she’s [Tipper Gore's] always believed there was something going on between Al and many of the women in his life.”

Those women included an environmentalist named to a prominent cabinet position by Gore when he was vice president, a sexy Hollywood actress, a gorgeous massage therapist – and even his first love!

If Al had been innocent, as our emailer points out, one would have imaged that he would have avoided being alone with another massage therapist afterward–if he were innocent.

2-Al and Tipper Gore placed a large group of property in a trust recently–which conveniently will protect it from any lawsuits that may be coming in the future.

Or maybe the two Gores are just into trusts.

Are Al Gore’s actions those of an innocent man?

Perhaps.

Perhaps not…

Yesterday [Al Gore Sex Attack Scandal: Gore's Land Deals Proof He Knew He'd Be Sued?] we wrote that we of “…the belief that the actions described by the massage therapist in the Portland police file–if true–are not the actions of a one-time offender.”

We should know something in the next 24 hours about whether our gut feeling was correct or not.
