FIRST WINNER, DBKP OUTSIDE THE BOX MEDIA AWARD:
MARK KNOLLER, CBS NEWS

BIPARTISANSHIP = SURRENDER BY REPUBLICANS

The word “bipartisanship” according to the Mainstream Media, is when Democrats are, 1- in the majority and trying to pass a progressive program that benefits one of their constituent groups and it stalls, OR 2-when Democrats are in the minority and are trying to block a Republican program.

It’s rare that readers/viewers hear this about “bipartisan” pleadings. When Big Media beats the “bipartisanship” drums, it’s usually to put pressure on Republicans to compromise core beliefs–which the GOP all too often do.

Mark Knoller, CBS News, not only understands this game, he explains it in lucid detail and provides a good read about the current president’s call for “bipartisanship.”

Ed Morrissey, Hot Air, calls it “…a biting report on Obama’s actual intentions and the desperation leading to it, but it won’t really come as shocking news to anyone in the GOP. The Democratic definition of bipartisanship has been the same since Bill Clinton demanded it for his own government takeover of health care.”

From Obama Says Bipartisanship, But What He Wants Is GOP Surrender:

It was more a plaintive plea than a political observation. His top legislative priorities are going nowhere and he’s searching for a way to get them out of lockup.

In this 13th month of his presidency, he’s anxious to pass a jobs bill and be seen addressing an unemployment rate that only last week declined from double digits. And his efforts to enact bills on energy, financial regulatory reform and especially health care are stuck in Congress despite the solid majority his party holds in both chambers.

He’s appealing for a spirit of bipartisanship – urging Democrats and Republicans alike “to put aside matters of party for the good of the country.” …

Mr. Obama said he “won’t hesitate to embrace a good idea from my friends in the minority party.” But he wants his way. He wants his energy policy enacted along with his jobs bill, his financial regulatory reform and his health care plan.

And if the opposition continues to block his objectives, he said he “won’t hesitate to condemn what I consider to be obstinacy that’s rooted not in substantive disagreement but in political expedience.”

When a sitting president calls for bipartisanship by the opposition – he really means surrender. And if they block his proposals, its “obstinacy” and not political views they hold as strongly as he holds his.

For his honest reporting on the issue of “bipartisanship”, DBKP proudly awards our first Outside the Box Media Award to Mark Knoller.

The Mainstream Media proved totally useless at fulfilling its adversarial role in the 2008 election cycle.

First, it not only failed to report the John Edwards Scandal, it assisted in killing any mention of that scandal for ten long months–all the while Edwards was a front-runner in the Democrat primaries, then under consideration for both a vice-presidential or attorney general slot.

Secondly, the fawning, obsequious sycophancy exhibited in covering Barack Obama discredited many ‘news’ organizations and contributed to trust levels only seen by politicians and used car salesmen.

It’s only fair when a MSM reporter “wanders off the reservation” and provides news to customers–instead of Progressive apologia, Dem talking points or killing stories unflattering to Progs.

We were going to make this award a monthly round-up with multiple winners, but since clear analysis and a non-left tilt in reporting is such a rare occurrence in the MSM, we decided it should be recognized whenever it happens.

Congratulation, Mark Knoller.

Good job!

UPDATE: Obama and Congressional Democrats are demanding “bipartisanship” in the Porkulus II bill–”Jobs Bill” as they’re re-branding it. Michelle Malkin has more: Porkulus II: Return of the Phony Jobs Boondoggle.

The whole process is kinda like taking piss, pouring it a bottle, slapping a label on it that says, “Warm! Refreshing! Bladder Tea!” and hoping people will clamor for it.

About the “Jobs Bill”: Dems are hoping that the electorate is as stupid as they accused them of being during last summer’s town halls.
