Bachelor “Scandal”: Producer, Bachelorette, Thrown Under ABC Bus?

Season 14 of The Bachelor starring Jake the Pilot Pavelka debuted with a ready-made scandal involving a bachelorette and a producer. Was it a case of “Producer/Bachelorette Cheating Hearts” or, was it a story-line designed to generate ratings? Either way, a producer has been fired while one contestant got the Bachelor boot.

At first, it seemed as if host Chris Robinson may have let the proverbial-or in this case, the producer-out of the bag as to what the upcoming season promo’s during last night’s episode of The Bachelor starring Jake the Pilot Pavelka alluded to. During a radio interview Robinson confirmed the firestorm concerned one of the contestants and…. a producer.

From Telling It Like It Is:

As much as some of you Bachelor fans would love to see scandal and sexy mayhem on Season 14 of The Bachelor, such as a sordid lesbian girl/girl kind of scandal, Harrison has confirmed the scandal involved a male producer and one of the contestants.

In the promo leading up to tonight’s premiere of The Bachelor “On The Wings of Love” with sexy hunk Jake Pavelka the pilot, we’re teased with “She’s been having this sexual affair with somebody else in the Bachelor house.”

While Harrison couldn’t or wouldn’t confirm who the producer was he did give some insight as to the lengths the producers went to include the outside storyline-the producer and the bachelorette-into The Bachelor:

Harrison says the sex “scandal” was incredibly uncomfortable for everyone involved. “I’m in the control room, and before I had to go talk to the girl, Jake and then the women, I had lawyers, psychologists, producers, executives telling me, ‘These are the words you can say.’ It was intense. It was a wild night, and I knew nothing until I got there.”

It was “intense”, “wild”, and from what Chris stated, was filmed as part of the upcoming Bachelor season. So who’s involved? And was this a storyline set-up whose goal was to generate ratings?

One guy who believes the producers are playing hanky-panky with viewers is Reality Steve:

Holy crap. The season is one episode in, and we already have our first scandal. Yeah right. Once again, they want to make you believe it’s one. If any of you actually believe that one of the female contestants had a sexual affair with a producer on the show while filming was taking place and was therefore kicked off, you’ve got another thing coming. It’s called a storyline.

According to Steve there was never any sexual misbehavior between one of the contestants and a producer:

The biggest one being what the real deal behind this alleged affair is. I will tell you now, Rozlyn is the girl that is kicked off the show next week for what Chris Harrison will deem as “inappropriate behavior in the context of the show”. Which is a perfect description since he technically never mentions a sexual affair. Why? Because there never was one. They just use one of the other contestants to voice over the now infamous, “She’s having a sexual affair with someone in the house”. Way to cover your asses. Just ask someone else to say it as speculation, then boot Rozlyn without any proof. Like I said, come back tomorrow for the full story of why Rozlyn was really booted from the show and the producer who was also fired.

We wondered, had Harrison never technically mentioned a sexual affair as Steve claimed?

Here’s an excerpt from RealityTVWorld.com:

It was embarrassing for us… incredibly unfortunate, [and] horrible decisions were made,” Harrison told KBIG-FM’s Valentine in the Morning radio show on Monday, according to Us Weekly.

“This is something that we took very seriously and it’s something that we couldn’t just sit by.”
Harrison said that the producer was fired and that the bachelorette was kicked off The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love due to the affair, which he added happened when the two “found time” to have “relations” during the show’s production this past fall. In addition, Harrison said “it was a little bit of both” when asked if the producer came forward or was caught in the act.

“Eventually, [he] stepped up to the plate, and we were like, ‘Well, okay.’ There was a barn storm. There was a fire!” Harrison reportedly told KBIG-FM.

A further search failed to yield the actual Chris Harrison interview. In press accounts Harrison stated there was an “affair” but never actually used the word, “sex”, instead, referring to the incident as “having relations” which sounds sexual but could cover a range of topics not including an affair or sex.

According to Reality Steve, the producers will “throw Rozlyn under the bus” and that what happened to Rozlyn happened to a contestant on a past show. Steve writes that he’ll post an update today on what really happened to Rozlyn and the producer. Meanwhile, Reality Steve’s current post is chock full of Bachelor tidbits well worth the read.
