Fire Michael Steele Yesterday

WHEN WILL THE REPUBLICAN PARTY PUT AN END TO THE SELF-INFLICTED WOUND WHOSE NAME IS MICHAEL STEELE?
AN ACTION FIGURE FROM DISASTER, INC.
MICHAEL STEELE’S PARTY OF ONE
When Michael Steele was hired as Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) it seemed like a bit of good news. The former Maryland lieutenant governor appeared passionate and articulate, two good qualities in a national party spokesman.
With his one year anniversary approaching (the end of January), how’s he done?
That depends on the measures one uses.
If the benchmark is how advantageous the last year has been for Michael Steele, he gets a solid B+. If, however, the benchmark is “the condition of the GOP under his watch”, Steele struggles for a passing grade.
Screw it. He gets an F-.

[ABOVE: Republican Party Putz]
A look through Steele’s first year can be accomplished by a quick look his 2009 headline “highlights”:
May 6–Michael Steele: Half a Chairman
October 5–GOP leaders to Michael Steele: Back off
October 28–Steele stands by embattled Scozzafava
November 1–Dede Scozzafava Slaps Michael Steele
November 10–GOP Chairman Michael Steele Says White Republicans Are Afraid of Him
December 22–Michael Steele Speaking Fees Ripped By Ex-RNC Chiefs
January 5–Steele Doesn’t Know If GOP Ready To Lead
NOTE: The above list is by no means a comprehensive list of Steele missteps. For instance, it doesn’t include his disastrous relaunch of the RNC website.
His latest–that he doesn’t know if the GOP is “ready to lead”–might be shrugged off. If it wasn’t part of such a disturbing pattern: Michael Steele’s main concern seems to be the well-being of, not the GOP, but of Michael Steele.
Add to that two items that are outrageous when juxtaposed.
One reads that GOP cash woes threaten House bids. So how does GOP Chairman Michael Steele respond? Intense fund-raising? Raising awareness of the Republican brand?
No. Steele’s been making the rounds, pimping his new book, Right Now: A 12-Step Program for Defeating the Obama Agenda.
Which, to no one’s great surprise, benefits Michael Steele.
Enough!
The time has come for the GOP to hire a full-time chairman whose full-time job consists of promoting the Republican Party.
Michael Steele has failed miserably at it.
While the number of Democrats continues to Fall to New Lows, Republicans have not profited: “…the number of Republicans in the country is essentially no different today than it was in November 2008 when Barack Obama was elected president.
This has all happened on Michael Steele’s watch. Steele is an embarrassment. If he leaves now, it’s in the best interests of both the Republican Party and Michael Steele.
But make no mistake: he must go.
Then he will be free to promote Michael Steele 24/7 on his own dime. He can shill his paid speeches and books non-stop.
Michael Steele must be replaced. Then the repair process that needs to be done after 2009′s missteps can begin. Too many people have bad memories of Michael Steele to open up their purse strings to the RNC. These people should be encouraged, in the meantime, to donate to individual candidates.
The GOP needs to get rid of the disaster that walks like a man: Michael Steele.
It’s simple, it’s necessary.
FIRE MICHAEL STEELE.
Yesterday.
NOTE: While we’ve never met him, we like Michael Steele personally; he has a compelling life story and seems jovial. Our differences with him are totally about his job non-performance.
UPDATE: Hot Air’s Allahpundit has noticed, Video: I don’t know if the GOP’s ready to lead yet, says … Michael Steele:
People might not believe it when you say it, but after another 10 months of Hopenchange misery, come election time they’ll want to believe it so badly that they will. As it is, the “I don’t know†here is destined for soundbite infamy in Democratic attack ads. Super.
“Super”, as in “Super Bozo”.
FIRE MICHAEL STEELE.
UPDATE: 1-7-10: Washington Times: Steele’s side pursuits drive away big donors:
The Times first reported displeasure by RNC members, including several former party chairmen, over Mr. Steele’s acceptance of pay for speeches while holding down his full-time job as national chairman, for which he receives $223,500 a year plus unlimited expenses. To the further consternation of party elders and many rank-and-file members, he has embarked on a promotional tour for his new book, “Right Now: A 12-Step Program for Defeating the Obama Agenda.”
Mr. Steele; his chief of staff, Ken McKay; RNC Treasurer Randy Pullen; and RNC press secretary Gail Gitcho all declined to respond to questions posed by The Times about his private business pursuits.
Couldn’t agree more: FIRE this buffoon.
MORE STILL: Shut up, and get out of the way.

Michael Steele gets a little easier to understand when you find out who’s coaching him:

Obama and the democratic party started out in my mind as comic and inexperienced. After watching this charade for a year I now consider this administration dangerous and incompetent. There is no doubt that this must be stopped.
The alternative? The good ol’ GOP. Both give me nausea and depression. Michael Steele is a self serving buffoon like everyone in politics. Our country was founded on a limited government which allowed idiots to serve because with the little power vested in a centralized government they could cause no damage. These idiots who can’t do anything else other than be a politician now have almost unlimited power to impact our personal liberty. If we could get limited government then I’d be extremely pleased with Michael Steele because he would have no power and could sit and masturbate in the RNP HQ for all I care.

tCope,
Obama was chosen by the press not for what he had done but what they believed he could do idealistically. They never looked into his background, discounted his lack of experience, and patted themselves on the back for choosing a candidate that would make America “look good” to the “rest of the world”. Funny, but no one has ever defined just who the rest of the world “is” and that their opinion of America should be part of the equation in who to elect as President.
There’s going to be a very rude awakening when Obama’s healthcare reform passes especially when Americans will have to prove to the IRS they have healthcare insurance or face a fine or jail time. They’ll also be in for a shock when the insurance company requires them to lose weight or stop smoking and sign up for “wellness” programs which are extremely invasive. The sheer lunacy: the government, who can’t run a train on time, will be entrusted to run healthcare.
This country was founded on individual rights. Barack Obama and his ilk believe the opposite: the government has the right to tell Americans what to do and how to live. Once they achieve their goal, “America” will no longer exist. The same America that millions from around the world shed blood, sweat, and tears to move here for the once, great American “dream”.
