Mysterious Miracle Oil, Ash, Draws Thousands to Australian Suburban Home

Australian Couple Believe Dead Son is Messenger from God, Mysterious Oil, Ash, Have Healing Powers

Faithful Entering Tannous Home Receive Blessing with Mysterious “Healing Power” Oil

A “strange and unusual” article posted at MyFoxLA, Couple Claims Dead Son Has Healing Power, caught our eye. An article on a couple from Sydney, Australia, George and Lina Tannous, whose 17-yr-old son Mike died in an auto accident in 2006. The couple believe Mike has been “handpicked” and a “messenger of God” due to a “mysterious oil” that weeps from the wall of his bedroom.

The article stated that scientific testing had failed to identify the oil, while dozens who have visited the Tannous’ suburban Sydney home claim “miracles”, or being “healed”.

The Daily Telegraph had more. In My dead son has miraculous powers, says Lina Tannous, the “miracles” began “just weeks” after Mike died in an auto accident in 2006. Since then, the Tannous claim “dozens” have been healed while the Tannous believe Mike could become Australia’s first “male” saint. One of the “miracles”: a neighbor woman who was told by doctors she couldn’t have a third child. The woman visited the Tannous home and prayed, then later returned bearing a box of chocolates and the announcement she was pregnant. Another case of the mysterious oil’s “healing power”: A 12-yr-old girl who suffered from “crippling joint pain” claimed, “I put it (the oil) on the first day, and since then, the pain is gone”.

Priest Blesses Pilgrims at Tannous Home
Local Priest, Father Michael Milhen Blesses Visitors with Mysterious Oil

Local Catholic priest Father Michael Milhen claims he’s “never seen anything as miraculous as this”. Despite his belief, the Vatican doesn’t permit priests to make claims on “miracles”, “miraculous”, or “healing powers”. Father Michael uses the oil to anoint, and then bless the continuous stream of visitors who make the pilgrimage to the Tannous’ home.

Recently, the Roman Catholic Church announced Sister Mary MacKillop will become Australia’s first saint in a canonization ceremony in Rome next year on the 100th anniversary of Sister Mary’s death. The Vatican had verified the requisite “second miracle” related to Mother Mary: A woman with inoperable cancer in the 1990′s who prayed to Mother Mary and was healed.

Pilgrims Tannous Home

Meanwhile, “thousands” line up to enter the Tannous suburban Sydney home where they “witness” the mysterious oil slowly seeping from the walls and paintings and “ash” on the floor, all said to have “healing powers” and receive a small dose of the oil on a Q-tip.

It was forty days after Mike died in the car crash that his parents claim they first noticed a mysterious oil appear on Mike’s bedroom wall. Along with the oil was the smell of roses which “filled the air”, and ash, the color of “coal” which “inexplicably materialized”. The Tannous believe these were signs their son was still “alive” and that God is using Mike as a “messenger for everyone”, not “just for us”. Mike’s schoolbooks were “littered” with “poems and scribbles” which seemed to depict the afterlife which some believe Mike had “predicted his own death”.

According to the Tannous, the “line of oil has multiplied and spread across the walls” as well as Mike’s initials and a cross have appeared. The Tannous turned their home into a “24-hour Cathedral” for those who make the pilgrimage “seeking to be healed by God”. The Tannous refuse to accept donations and have, so far, handed out over 3500 cotton balls swabbed with the oil while the number of visitors continue to swell.

    This little babe so few days old,
    Is come to rifle Satan’s fold;
    All hell doth at His presence quake,
    Though He Himself for cold do shake;
    For in this weak unarmèd wise
    The gates of hell He will surprise.
