In last week’s episode, Gretchen Rossi flew out to Michigan to visit her late fiance’s children, 17-yr-old Jake and his older sister Jill. Contrary to what’s been written on the web, Jeff’s kids seem to genuinely care for Gretchen. They spoke about how the rather cruel remarks made by other Real Housewives cast members had hurt them, and that their father wasn’t around to defend himself. Two such “remarks” come to mind: Tamra’s insistence that Gretchen was a “paid companion” of their father Jeff while he was dying from cancer, and that Gretchen is a “golddigger of old men”. At the time of Jeff’s death he was 54, the same age as departed Housewife Jeanna Keough and two years older than current Housewife Lynne Curtin.

Part of the show featured Tamra Barney, husband Simon, and Tamra’s son Ryan. The Barneys, with their young kids, attended a party at Vicki Gunvalson’s house. Later, Ryan showed up, sparking a heated conversation between Tamra and Simon over Simon’s six month long refusal to “forgive” Ryan for taking his car without Simon’s permission. Simon was incensed that Ryan not only took his car without permission but was also caught driving with a suspended license. Simon stated that if Ryan had gotten into an accident, Simon would have been held responsible, and that Simon could have been sued for “everything” he “owned”. Which is true. Simon wrote about the incident on his Bravo TV Blog.

Let’s talk about the party at Vicki’s house. I really felt bad for Ryan when I watched this episode. No parent likes to see their kid struggle and look bad for the entire world to see. Taking my car with a suspended license was something that could have been very detrimental to all (http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/impound.html). I hope you will see the change in Ryan that I have in the upcoming episodes.

Ryan refused to apologize, informing Tamra that Simon thought he was “top dog”. Ryan told his mother that he was going to jail and that he had informed the courts that it was his decision which wasn’t exactly the truth.

In Gretchen Slade “Wedding Photos”, Ryan’s “Jail” Time, Jeana’s New Gig: Real Housewives of Orange County we wrote about Ryan’s troubles with the law where we discovered Ryan had violated the terms of his suspended license probation. Before the violation Ryan had to serve 5 days of community service. A violation meant it was the court, and not Ryan, who made the decision Ryan would spend the five days serving time in jail.

Vicki went to the airport to pick up a young guy whom she and Donn had met while vacationing. Vicki thought he’d be “great” for Briana, who, since Vicki and Donn’s trip, had been talking with Briana on the phone. The poor sap, who stayed three days, thought he’d get to see Los Angeles until Briana informed him she “hated” LA. Instead, the two were filmed going to a yogurt shop.

New Housewife Alexis Bellino and husband Jim were filmed at a swank place having lunch. Jim, who’s 47, and the breadwinner, asked Alexis, 32, and stay-at-home mom, if she’d gone running that day, that it must be “rough” to spend her days exercising and getting her hair and nails done. Alexis told him that she’d only gone running and that she hadn’t had her hair or nails done in a “couple of days”.

Off-camera, Alexis stated that it was necessary for her to keep in shape as husband Jim’s “Queen”, and that she needed to have her hair and “skin” done on a frequent basis because of the bevy of beautiful women who would be attracted to “King” Jim. Which was kind of creepy and alluded to a relationship based on her looks, and his money, as some would describe King Jim as “not that attractive” in relation to Queen Alexis’. One wonders how well their relationship would weather Alexis gaining weight, or, Jim losing his wealth.

Alexis admitted she wanted to have a teeny bite of Jim’s food then, when Jim complained about the cocktail sauce, told him she had “already tasted it” and it needed more horseradish sauce. After the waiter brought a side of horseradish sauce Jim whipped out black velvet covered box too large to hide in his pocket-we wondered how he’d concealed it beforehand. Jim surprised Alexis with a 7 carat diamond necklace. It was quite a lovely moment and amazingly, caught by the Bravo Housewives camera crew.

Tamra held a “girls only’ bunco party at Chez Barney where the participants wore wigs, rolled the dice and downed tequila shots. Alexis and Lynne showed up as well as former Housewife Quinn Fyre, who “disappeared” from the Real Housewives season before last. Bravo never explained why the Creationist Housewife departed while, at Tamra’s party, Quinn remained a shadowy figure in a wig which reminded me of the episode where Quinn and her younger boyfriend took a trip to Vegas. Quinn showed up in a wig and strange catsuit outfit where her boyfriend was having a drink. She then lured him back to their room for “hot sex”. Soon after, the man dumped Quinn. At the end of the season, Quinn was dumped again, this time by Bravo.
