Sheen’s Prior Assault Charge and No-Contest Plea, Shooting Incident with Fiance Kelly Preston

Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller
The Christmas Aspen incident wasn’t the first time Charlie Sheen has been arrested on a battery charge against a woman, nor, is it the first time a current wife has issued a restraining order. In 1996, Sheen plead No Contest to misdemeanor battery and received a year’s suspended sentence and two years probation. This time, Sheen, if charged, could face up to 8 years in prison.
According to Radar Online, Charlie Sheen could face up to 8 years in prison if he’s convicted of domestic assault charges, according to Colorado Criminal Defense Attorney, Lauren R. Maytin, who’s not connected to the case.
Despite the speculation, to date, Sheen hasn’t been formally charged with any crime connected to his arrest.
Aspen Colorado’s Chief Deputy District Attorney Arnold Mordkin, who is handling the case, tells us, “I don’t plan on charging or doing anything with Mr. Sheen until close to his first court date on February 8th. Mr. Sheen is required to attend the first court hearing on February 8th.”

On Christmas morning, Aspen police arrested and charged Sheen with Second Degree Assault, a class four felony, Menacing, a class five felony, and Criminal Mischief, a class one misdemeanor after he allegedly “choked” his third wife, Brooke Mueller.
According to Celebgalz, Mueller was “legally drunk” at the time of the 911 call, and that Mueller had “recanted” the “choke charge” before Sheen was arrested:
Charlie Sheen blew a .04 while Brooke Mueller blew .13 on the breathalyzer tests. Mueller was legally drunk at the time she made the 911 call to complain. Police told Mueller recanted her story when she was being questioned but police went ahead to process Sheen’s arrest.
According to Radar, Sheen posted a $8500 bond Friday night while Sheen’s wife Brooke Mueller was issued a restraining order against Sheen. Restraining orders are mandatory in Colorado domestic violence cases.
The restraining order maintains that Sheen cannot contact Mueller unless the contact is through his attorney. According to Radar, Mueller was in Aspen to “get away” from Sheen and that the couple’s marriage had “deteriorated”.
According to Celebgalz, Mueller had been in Aspen for the past three months:
“Mueller was rumored to have rented her home in Colorado and was staying there for the past 3 months. Sheen stayed in LA. During this Christmas season, Sheen visited her for the holidays.”
Brooke had alleged to the cops that Sheen had “tried to choke her”. According to Radar, late on Friday, Brooke recanted the charge after being contacted by Charlie’s “reps” and that “money” was discussed to save Sheen’s “already tattered image”. Sheen purportedly makes $20 million a year from his CBS series, Two and Half Men.
On Friday, May 30, 2008, People published Charlie Sheen & Brooke Mueller Get Married:
Charlie Sheen married real estate investor Brooke Mueller at a private estate in Los Angeles on Friday, PEOPLE has confirmed.
“They’re well matched and incredibly happy,” says a friend of the couple.
Mueller, 30, and Sheen, 42, exchanged vows in front of about 60 close friends and family. The bride wore a Reem Acra gown. Among the guests were Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane and actress Rebecca Gayheart, who first introduced the couple in 2006.
On March 15, 2009, People published Twin Boys for Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller Sheen!:
Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller Sheen welcomed twin boys Saturday night. The children, named Max and Bob, are the first for the couple, who married in May 2008.
…
The family is “very happy,” Rosenfield says, adding that Charlies is “ecstatic. He’s a family man – now he has three daughters and two sons. He’s a wonderful father.”
Sheen, 43, has daughters, Sam, 4, and Lola, 3, with ex-wife Denise Richards, and another, 24-year-old Cassandra, from a previous marriage.
According to RightCelebrity.com, Sheen’s first wife was model Donna Peele, and that the two met in New York City in 1995, knew each other for six weeks, married on September 3, 1995, then separated six months later. The couple divorced November 19, 1996.
Yuddy.com has more Peele’s preference to keep her life and her former marriage to Sheen private.

On June 16, 2002, Hollywood.com reported on Sheen’s second marriage to actress Denise Richards:
HOLLYWOOD – Reformed bad boy Charlie Sheen married actress Denise Richards in Los Angeles Saturday night.
Sheen’s father, actor Martin Sheen, attended the Catholic ceremony, which took place at the home of Spin City’s producer, the couple’s publicist told The Associated Press on Sunday.
Sheen, 36, and Richards, 30, were both outfitted in Armani. Richards wore a white satin gown and crystal beaded jacket.
The couple started dating last year, and Richards reportedly moved into Sheen’s Los Angeles apartment after they spent a romantic holiday together in Hawaii.
The two co-starred as lovers in 2001 romantic comedy Good Advice, and Richards later guest-starred with Sheen on the sitcom Spin City. They also shared credits in the 1993 parody National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon
There’s more:
In fact, Sheen has quite a reputation when it comes to the ladies. He was engaged to actress Kelly Preston in 1990 and was briefly married to model Beverly Peele in 1996. He also dated porn stars Ginger Lynn Allen and Brittany Ashland (whom he was charged with assaulting in 1996).
The actor also revealed under oath that he had spent more than $50,000 on call girls during the infamous investigation into Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss in 1996.
That same year, Sheen attempted to clean up his act and announced he had “found God,” but his reformation was short lived: the actor suffered a drug overdose and was sentenced to a drug and rehabilitation clinic two years later.
On April 22, 2006, People published Judge: Charlie Stay Away from Denise:
Sheen was ordered on Friday to stay at least 300 feet from Richards, her home, her car and their two daughters except during supervised visits with the kids, according to court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The judge granted Sheen one-day-per-week visits with 2-year-old Sam and 10-month-old Lola and scheduled another hearing for May 12.
In court papers filed Friday, Richards claimed that her Sheen threatened to kill her.
“I am filing now because I can no longer accept (Sheen’s) abusive and threatening manner and must stop him from the cycle of his abuse toward me and our children and his continued threats of violence and statements that he is going to kill me,” Richards, 35, said in the papers.
In her 17-page filing, Richards said that Sheen’s gambling, pill-popping and violent mood swings led to their initial separation last year.
From Hollywood.com:
Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards are no longer husband and wife–their marriage was terminated in Los Angeles on Nov. 17, according to new documents.
The couple split last year and briefly reconciled at Christmas before waging a messy war of words in the divorce courts.
They were married for just under three years and had two daughters together.
More on the assault on Brittany Ashland, charges Sheen shot Kelly Preston, and the “$50,000 spent on prostitutes” from nndb.com:
His best movies include Platoon with Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe, Wall Street with Michael Douglas, and Eight Men Out with D. B. Sweeney. On TV he starred in the sitcoms Spin City and Two and a Half Men. Among his better-known off-screen antics, he shot his fiancé Kelly Preston, pled no contest to charges of battery on porn star Brittany Ashland, and spent upwards of $50,000 on prostitutes provided by Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss. Sheen insists that he never paid for sex, but only paid to have Fleiss’ employees leave after sex. In an interview with Maxim, Sheen estimated that he had slept with 5,000 women.
From imdb.com:
His downward spiral continued the following year when his ex-girlfriend Brittany Ashland filed charges claiming that he physically abused her. He was later charged with misdemeanor battery to which he pleaded no contest and was given a year’s suspended sentence, two years’ probation and a $2,800 fine. He finally hit rock bottom in May 1998 when he was hospitalized in Thousand Oaks, California, following a near-fatal drug overdose. Later that month, he was ordered back to the drug rehab center, which he had previously left after one day.

Charlie Sheen and Kelly Preston
From Zimbio.com:
Remember when Charlie Sheen and Kelly Preston were an item? Long before she romanced John Travolta, Preston was engaged to the Two and a Half Men star back in 1990, but the nuptials never actually happened.
Sheen accidentally shot Preston in the arm the same year, causing a wound that required two stitches. Needless to say, the relationship ended shortly after: Apparently getting shot by her fiance was a deal-breaker for Preston.
There were no charges filed in the Kelly Preston shooting incident.

This destructive behavior is typical of people in the trap of drugs and alcohol. He needs a real detox and good rehab. I also wonder if he is taking antidepressants because erratic behavior is a side effect.
