April Ryan to Robert Gibbs: Don’t Play with Me!‎

April Ryan got the full Robert “The Tool” Gibbs’ treatment today at the White House press conference.

Robert Gibbs compared April Ryan, White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Network, to a child behaving badly. It’s been a busy week for Gibbs’ and his smirking-as-he-insults-you ways.

It all starts with Ryan asking Gibbs if Micheale Salahi, the female “gate crasher” at the recent state dinner for the prime minister of India, came out of the event as the “belle of the ball” overshadowing First Lady, Michelle Obama.

Gibbs seems to take offense and things go down hill from there.

Video of the crucial exchange below.

Robert “The Tool” Gibbs can circle December 4, 2009 in his “Diary of a Tool”.

So can April Ryan–but for a different reason.

NOTE: Hard to improve on Don Surber’s analysis of this event, ” White House gets testy over Gatecrasher Gate.

Don Surber: “This is being billed by whoever posted the video at YouTube in racial terms — “Gibbs Compares Black Female WH Reporter To His Child” — but White House spokesman Robert Gibbs is an equal opportunity jerk. He is smug, untalented and overrated — in short a perfect representative of our president.”

Don also has the transcript of the April Ryan-Robert Gibbs back-and-forth for the literal-minded.

Wow, that’s an interesting assessment. Why is everyone thinking that April Ryan was so dissed? Maybe we all need a little reality check every now and then. I wrote about this today: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2457938/april_ryans_questions_regarding_desiree.html?singlepage=true&cat=9 — I mean, why are we making Gibbs the bad guy here?

    Elizabeth,

Surely, it’s not so hard to see.

The White House hasn’t answered important questions about the incident, gets testy when asked and refuses to send people to testify to Congress to clear up the questions.

THAT is why Gibbs is the bad guy here.
It’s nothing personal: anyone in his position who doesn’t answer questions (his job) would get the same treatment.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

Noooo! Robert Gibbs was sent to answer questions about the 98,000 men and women of our armed forces, and NOT the gate crashers.

Both Robert Gibbs and April Ryan are professionals who crossed the line. When Gibbs suggested that Ryan was like Gibbs child the conversation should have stopped. When Ryan lost track of the topic of discussion at hand, and continued to badger the press secretary, then Ryan stepped over the line.

Who should be on trial here? The Secret Service who’s sole responsibility is to protect the president. So do we now have a fall guy/gal for what transpired??? Obviously it wasn’t those who are really responsible.

It’s a continuation of the typical cover-ups brought to you by our leadership.

    Elizabeth,

You have a very valid point. I didn’t know it was a “dedicated” press conference; as in, dedicated to a particular issue or subject.

I still think he’s arrogant though. But for once, he might have a defense?!?

Thanks for the information, setting me straight and the comment.

I think that arrogant spoiled brat, Gibbs, needs a spanking and timeout for good measure. You go, April! I’d like to see some accountability here–at least take away Gibb’s lolly, he’s a smug tyke, isn’t he!
