Amazing Hand Fabricated Aluminum Corsair and P51 Mustang Aluminum Model Airplanes
Truly amazing!! Talk about dedication, craftsmanship and patience……….WOW!!
Rides a Pale Horse

We got this from Rides, the story of retired dentist Young C. Park whose dedicated craftsmanship has fabricated some truly amazing model airplanes using aluminum.

Retired Dentist Young C. Park
P51 Mustang

Corsair

Using a tweezers, the controls can be moved. All cables and linkages are in place to work the wing control surfaces as well. Young Park has since carved a pilot’s face and hands from solid aluminum and built an articulated pilot to sit in the cockpit. (Photo: George F. Lee, Honolulu Star-Bulletin)
Here’s pic of fingers and tweezers to give scale……… Sooooo small!!!
Remember this as you look at the pics……….. All the controls work as designed, by cables, chains, linkages and levers.

All these controls WORK!!!!!…….. And that means they work the parts of the aircraft via rods and chains as in the original aircraft!!!!
Every single part hand made and fitted.
It blows you away, doesn’t it???

Don’t forget the tiny scale……… go up again and look at the pic of the fingers and tweezers!

Machine guns and bullets………
Detail of three .50 Cal. machine guns and ammo cans. Ammo cans are loaded outside the aircraft and then simply set into place in the wing. Their doors become the top surface of the wing. This allowed for rapid reloading by the ground crew.

[...] F-4U Corsair gawkerGallery(5429683,44,); All the wing surfaces, flaps, ailerons, landing gear and other controls are functional, but the levers to operate them are so small it requires tweezers. Even the Ammo cans are functional, they lift clear of the wing and feed tiny brass bullet into the non-operating cannons. (Hat tip to Bob!) [Craftsmanship Museum via 1000PaperCuts] [...]
On vehicles like this P-51 Mustang (which I like most 12-year olds in the 40′s also made of balsa in a few hours) I admire the intensity of labor involved, but can’t avoid the question, “What about operational spark-plugs of the engine?” At this scale, it means one must visualize a plug about 1/8″ long. Operational? I’d be surprised. No, I’d be dumbfounded. The photographs are very impressive, too.

Well, here is a 1/3 scale Ferrari 312PB with an operational engine:

The planes are on a much smaller scale, if this artist was working at the same scale I would not be surprised (though I would be awed) to see him pull it off.

All I can say is WOW!! What an incredible testament to creativity and dedication. Both these men have achieved what to most of us would seem impossible. Absolutely amazing! And that engine does indeed sound like the real thing. I wondered while watching that video if it would be possible to, with the technology available today, make the car remote controlled. Now that would be flat awesome to be able to see it actually run on a track.
Thanks for posting that!!
Does make one wonder what kind of social lives these guys have though…..lol!!
