On March 12, 2008, we posted Kidnapper Demands and Chinese Release Negotiations, photos of a small Chinese boy being held hostage by a lone kidnapper next to an apartment window, the cop who stepped out of the window of the next door apartment, then, while standing on the ledge, shot the kidnapper dead while the boy was being held in the kidnapper’s grasp.

Judging from this new hostage kidnapping story out of the China on the honed hostage saving skills of the Chinese police, kidnappers should be aware that, in the end, they’ll get shot, and most likely killed, while their victims will rescued.

According to the China Daily’s Police rescue all four hostages after 24-hour standoff, after a wealthy industrialist named Chen and his family were taken hostage in their villa in the early morning by a lone kidnapper, the China cops set up a perimeter, then began negotiations. The kidnapper, armed with a pistol and two bags of self-made detonators, demanded a ransom of 3 million yuan ($439,000). The hostage allowed Chen to leave the home to retrieve the money. When he returned, at 2 pm, the kidnapper asked for more money. By 3, the police had added 11 snipers and more armed police. During the evening, one armed team police sneaked into the upper floor of the villa, then hid there during the night. Meanwhile, police took over a nearby villa with the same floor plan, where they “rehearsed” rescuing the hostages.

At 7 am, when Chen returned with food, the police had taken up positions then shot the kidnapper dead as he opened the front door.
