  In 1970s America, two infamous organizations were gearing up for big things. Wade Rathke founded ACORN in Arkansas and soon after moved its headquarters to New Orleans. Jim Jones was building the Peoples Temple and set up operations in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Rathke and Jones were both gifted community organizers utilizing Democrat politicians, a compliant media, and vulnerable citizens to further their quests for power and money. Their identical pretense was to help the poor and downtrodden.

• IT’S almost as if Obama walks around with a “Thank you sir, may I have another” sign on his back. Joe Biden was labeled the “Gaffe-a-minute-machine” in the 2008 elections, but that was only because Obama’s gaffe-tastic performances received little attention in the mainstream press. Obama’s mistakes have now reached avalanche stage and it’s hard to see him shutting up and pulling a hermit routine for awhile just to let the latest ones fade away.

  In “Going Rogue,” Sarah Palin criticizes CBS for editing long interviews into the most damaging soundbites and making her look stupid and irritable. There’s an easy solution: Release the unedited video. There is a lot of material in the book making assertions about all sorts of trenchant comments Palin supposedly made. Palin says she was asked the same questions over and over in an effort to elicit a bad answer. She says that some of her answers were clipped after some simple beginning and before she delved into details that would have made her look smart and knowledgeable. It would be very easy to check if we had all the video.

  We agree with the gist, if not the tone of the piece. Is it just us, or does Althouse–whom we generally like–sound like a bitchy snark whenever she writes about Palin? Guess that’s better than a snarky b….
