During the presidential campaign last year, the connection between Barack Obama and Bill Ayers was a subject that was seldom discussed in the polite society that is the Mainstream Media.

Obama called Ayers “tangential”, “one of the guys from my neighborhood” and “one of the thousands of people I know”.

Of course, this was all lies–Obama launched his political career from Ayers living room.

And since then, we’ve found out that Ayers helped on–some say wrote–”Dreams of My Father”.

NOT ONLY did Big Media not cover the long cozy relationship between the unrepentant former domestic terrorist Ayers and the hellbent-for-the-White-House Obama, the MSM served as a sort of Obama campaign pet attack dog when any other mention of the subject appeared.

During the campaign, the press failed to do their job as an “adversarial press” on the subject of Obama-Ayers. Instead, the MSM performed a much more familiar role: that of political flackery.

However, just because the press didn’t cover the Obama-Ayers story, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Questions remain, though many have been answered by subsequent events.

What’s the former Weather Underground leader been up to lately? One year removed from the NY Times and others covering up the story of Barack Obama and Bill Ayers, how does their relationship stand?

President Obama has had unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers twice at the White House. Throughout the campaign, Candidate Barack Obama mocked those who said the two were connected. Ayers was just some guy from the neighborhood.

Liar.

Indeed.

DBKP was among those who covered the connection. It wasn’t like the same information wasn’t available to the Mouthpiece Media.

It was they had an interest in electing Barack Obama; therefore, they had an interest in ignoring the story.

The White House says that it wasn’t “that Bill Ayers” that visited, but provided no proof. Seeing as how Obama has been less than forthcoming on the subject to date, count us skeptical until such proof is provided.

Think Progress thinks that means we’re in “a tizzy”.
They say that Jake Tapper, one of the few trust-worthy members of the MSM, backs them up on this point.

Does he?

Tapper allows that there is more than one “Bill Ayers” in the phone book. What Tapper doesn’t say is how many of those 58 other Bill Ayers had long-standing relationships with Barack Obama.

On this subject, count us in with those in a “tizzy”.

The results of the press covering up a story (CNN was the lone network doing any independent investigation: they did one story on their own) is reduced trust in that press by its customers.

And reduced trust means less people willing to shell out for a defective product. Numbers of Americans who trust the MSM, along with Big Media stocks, continue to plummet.

And candidate Obama?

He’s now President Obama. After starting off with the trust of a large majority of Americans, his stock has fallen too.

The moral?

For the media: do your job and you’ll reap rewards.
For Barack Obama: when you mislead, dissemble and lie about one of the few areas of your past that’s check-able, you lose your credibility when next you ask Americans to trust you.

Bill Ayers has been to the White House twice in the first nine months of the Obama administration.

Not bad for “just some guy from the neighborhood”.

UPDATE @ 1035 10-31-09: That there are 59 “Bill Ayers” in the white pages doesnt mean that Obama’s Bill Ayers never has visited the White House. Until there’s proof to the contrary, we’ll call this more of the same that was heard during the campaign.

We’ll call this the “just another guy from the phone book” defense.

If it turns out that it was Bill Ayers from Jefferson City, MO that visited the White House, we’ll update. In the meantime, we’re still in a skeptical “tizzy”.

UPDATE @ 1052 103109: A reader at Don Surber’s has this well-reasoned comment: “You idiot!! Just like with any open visitor log, a visitior can write any name he/she chooses — there is no coverup, just morons trying to be funny —– see for yourself jackass!”

To which Surber replied, “You might have a point, except the Secret Service is supposed to verify just who you are…”

Touche.

As with most lib arguements, it’s hard to argue with the commenter’s “logic”.

UPDATED @ 1655 103109: Ace points out that it was William A. Ayers instead of William C. Ayers. That’s proof enough. Now, about Andy Stern and George Soros…

But it has to be said, “We’re pretty sure it wasn’t former domestic terrorist Bill Ayers who was at the White House.”

The rest of the stuff about the media and Obama’s dissembling during the campaign stands.
