Mainstream Media: Other Names for the MSM
Since its membership is financially in flames and may not survive the next 10 years, we wondered about:
OTHER NAMES FOR THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA
A few months ago, media commentator, Bernie Goldberg, remarked that the term “Mainstream Media” was inaccurate and needed updating.
That got us thinking: What other terms are out there to describe the many-times monolithic thinking of the mostly-liberal Mainstream Media?
From “Mainstream Media†Must Go!”
“Since there is very little mainstream about the so-called mainstream media, it’s time for all of us to stop using such a misleading term – and come up with something new.”
Goldberg asked for suggestions to replace the phrase “Mainstream Media” to be left in the comments at the end of his article. There were 1,324 Responses. Among the suggestions:
“Mouthpiece Media” came from La in Tx. DBKP has used that one on occasion. Also “Mouthpiece Moron Media”…
Anthony Ferreira offered “magalomania media”. Megalomania?
“Lap Dog Media” was another choice that DBKP’s used on a number of occasions. We’ve also called them the “Poodle Dog Media” and the “Good Doggie Media”.
Bodily functions inspired the following suggestions: “Choke and Puke Media” and “Urine Stream Media”.
“Minion Media†was good. So was “The White House Water Boysâ€.
Over at American Spectator, R. Emmitt Tyrrell has used taken to using the term “Mainstream Moron Media”. Ace at Ace of Spades HQ started calling Big Press the “Head Pat Media”.
“Dinosaur Media”, “Big Media”, and “Legacy Media” are also common replacements for Mainstream Media.
Still, for all the suggestions, we’re not sure another moniker for the Mainstream Media would change anything.
Paraphrasing Shakespeare, “A Mainstream Media by any other name will still misreport the news”.
