Helmund Province, Afghanistan

The deadliest battle of the Afghan war claimed the lives of ten US soldiers last week. Meanwhile, back at home, the Senate rejected an attempt to have the top commander in Afghanistan testify about the increasingly volatile situation.

No word yet from President Obama about the request for more troops. He was otherwise occupied with a jaunt to Copenhagen to make a personal pitch for the Olympics to be held in Chicago. And appearing on the Letterman Show. Obama managed to take time out from his and Michelle’s latest ‘date night’ to explain that Afghanistan is not an American battle – its a NATO mission. I’m sure that comforted the families of our dead warriors.

Meanwhile, the State Department has gotten rid of all the terrorists. They just renamed them “refugees.”

President Obama continued regaling Americans with healthcare horror stories in order to garner support for the pending government take over of 17% of the economy. The only problem: most of his stories just aren’t true. The White House made clear that these lies were merely ‘mis-statements.’ Oh, the joys of being a media darling. Speaking of the media:

CULTURE

The Los Angeles Times has no plan to ever release a video it obtained of President Obama attending an anti-Israel event in which he delivered a glowing testimonial for Rashid Khalidi, a pro-Palestinian professor who excuses terrorism.

The Washington Post admitted it made up a quote out of whole cloth and the New York Times bravely admitted that it blew the ACORN scandal. Translation: they ignored it until it became so huge they had to report on it. How utterly courageous of them to admit the obvious.

Cary and Chris Daniels of Dallas have filed a lawsuit seeking big bucks from a former neighbor and landlord for damage they say was caused by cigarette smoke wafting through adjoining walls of their high-end townhome. Hey, they’ve got rights!

Speaking of rights: A gay man who repeatedly gave blood after lying about having sex with other men is suing Canadian Blood Services, alleging the questionnaire used by the agency to screen out unsuitable donors is a violation of his charter rights.

The Federation of Gay Games announced that Cleveland will be the site of the 2014 games, and it looks like same-sex marriage will soon be approved in D.C.

A Texas judge has cleared the way for two Dallas men to get a divorce, ruling that Texas’ ban on same-sex marriage violates the constitutional guarantee to equal protection under the law.

Tufts University has ruled that “You may not engage in sexual activity while your roommate is present in the room.” And officials in Berkeley, California said the fact the south side of the Berkeley park has become a well-known location for public sex buggery is hurting the city. Duh.

The Hollywood community is rallying around Roman Polanski. Remember him? He’s the guy that was convicted of drugging and raping a 13 year-old girl 30 years ago. Bringing new meaning to the old adage that “the wheels of justice grind slowly,” Polanski was finally nabbed in Switzerland. He might just skate again – Whoppi Goldberg has informed America that in Polanski’s case, rape really isn’t rape (unless, of course, its committed by a conservative) Click here for the growing list of celebs that agree with her.

I don’t know about you but I’m awful tired of all this sex stuff. Color me prudish.

OF INTEREST:

Obama-nation billboard

An unusual sign has appeared along Interstate 70 in Blue Springs.

In 2009, roughly 47% of households, or 71 million, will not owe any federal income tax. The left calls this ‘social justice.’

U.S. auto sales tumbled by 23% in September as showrooms emptied after the government-funded boom from the “cash for clunkers” program, with General Motors Co and Chrysler hardest-hit. This is our government at work. Sigh.

I ran across an interesting video in which Milton Friedman makes an interesting case for legalizing drugs. Food for thought.

RIGHT BIAS IDIOT AWARDS:

Top Idiot Of The Week Award goes to far-left documentary film director Michael Moore who has become a millionaire thanks to the profits from his movies. He actually told CNSNews.com that “capitalism did nothing” for him.

There are so many idiots this week that we have been forced to bring back our Idiot Awards.
Click here for the complete list.

Hopefully next week I’ll have some better news to report. Until then, take heart and speak out.
