A WORLD OF NEWS
- Probably one of the few reasons we’d link to the usually-rancid WashPo is Charles Krauthammer.
From Does He Lie?
Obama said he would largely solve the insoluble cost problem of Obamacare by eliminating “hundreds of billions of dollars in waste and fraud” from Medicare.
That’s not a lie. That’s not even deception. That’s just an insult to our intelligence. Waste, fraud and abuse — Meg Greenfield once called this phrase “the dread big three” — as the all-purpose piggy bank for budget savings has been a joke since Jimmy Carter first used it in 1977.
- ON THE OTHER HAND…
“Wy znajdujecie siÄ™” and “Tebe brloh”.
That’s “you lie” in Polish and Czech.

Why are the Blue Dogs Nervous? From Dems Should Focus On The Color Purple:
Democrats ought to keep in mind that 84 of their current House members represent districts won by President Bush in 2004 or John McCain in 2008….A whopping 48 of those Democrats — eight more than the size of their party’s majority — are from districts that voted for both Bush and McCain. That America is very different from the Democratic base in blue America, and it sees many major issues very differently.
Have to admit, this information is surprising–at least to this writer.

Eugene Volokh 9 - Obama Care Preview from Michelle Obama’s Chicago Hospital
From One woman Michelle Obama will not mention:
In February 2009, outrage in the Obamas’ community exploded after a young boy covered by Medicaid was turned away from the University of Chicago Medical Center. Dontae Adams’ mother, Angela, had sought emergency treatment for him after a pit bull tore off his upper lip. Mrs. Obama’s hospital gave the boy a tetanus shot, antibiotics, and Tylenol and shoved him out the door. The mother and son took an hour-long bus ride to another hospital for surgery.
I’ll guarantee you this: You’ll never see the Adams family featured at an Obama policy summit or seated next to the First Lady at a joint session of Congress to illustrate the failures of the health care system.
Just a little hint of things to come from Michelle Obama and David Axelrod?
Except there won’t be any place to dump the patients…
- OBAMA HAS EXPERIENCED RACISM…in last year’s Dem Primaries
American Spectator’s George Neumayr chronicles it succinctly. From Race to the Bottom
Last year Geraldine Ferraro called Barack Obama’s race an advantage. “If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position,” she said to a California newspaper, the Daily Breeze. “He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept.” Now Jimmy Carter says his race is a disadvantage. Which is it?
…
The Democratic primaries pitted feminists against racialists and blacks of Jesse Jackson’s generation against those of Obama’s. The nation had largely moved beyond race. But the Democrats hadn’t. They were still, as Ferraro revealed, “caught up in the concept.”In between these two paragraphs, Neumayr lays out the candid comments of what Democrats opposing Obama said in 2008. Included is this reminder, “Recall that as Obama went from strength to strength in the Democratic primaries, Jackson was caught in an off-camera moment disparaging him as a sell-out upstart in the crudest terms imaginable, a comment that makes Joe Wilson’s look tame. Now that Obama is failing they feel more comfortable with him.”
The Democrats, and especially Jimmy Carter, may be right.
There is still racism in the country.
And some Democrats are well-acquainted with it.
- THE RECESSION IS SOOOOO OVER. ISN’T IT?
Some economists are chanting the recession is over.
Trouble is, most people don’t believe it.
From Public: Next year will be worse:
People do not believe the recession is over, a CNN Poll showed.
“Economists have typically called an end to recessions long before the public thinks hard times have passed,†says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. “The recession of the early 1990s was officially over by 1991, but a majority of Americans didn’t think the recession was over until late in 1993.â€
Here is the problem with that analogy: 1991 was a six-month recession, just like the 2000-2001 recession that everyone now ignores.
This one began in July 2008 and it really has no end in sight.
Which leads Don Surber to a 2010 political prediction.
- JOHN McCAIN FINDS SOMEONE TO ATTACK THAT ISN’T A CONSERVATIVE
John McCain calls a presidential catastrophe a presidential catastrophe.
Well, it’s not as if this is a particularly controversial point. What other President in American history allowed dozens of embassy staff to be held hostage for over a year? What other President kissed a totalitarian on the cheek and pronounced American fears of Soviet Communism overblown? What other President addressed the nation during an economic crisis and told us that we more or less had to get used to it? Oh, wait, there has been a new entry in that last category …
The only thing that will make the Obama years the 2nd term Jimmy Carter never had is the rampant inflation that will be coming to a consumer good near you in the next few years.
- TRUST is a Terrible Thing to Waste
Three excellent articles which lay out the, errr, inconsistencies, Obama’s Grand Speech last week:
* Obama’s Health Care Plan: Put Up And Shut Up The case that Obama Care is really Tony Soprano Care.
* Obama’s Dissolving Credibility It began with Rev. Wright.
* Obama, Home of the Whopper. Thoughts on Trust and the Will to Believe Once the “will to believe” is shattered, disillusionment follows.
