The German ad company das comitee’s “Aids is a Mass Murderer” Adolf Hitler commercial was given the thumbs down by established HIV/Aids charities in Europe as being stigmatizing to people who already live with HIV/AIDs.
From the U.K.’s Telegraph:
“Of course there are many HIV organisations that run their own campaigns, however I think the advert is incredibly stigmatising to people living with HIV who already face much stigma and discrimination due to ignorance about the virus,” a spokeswoman for the National AIDS Trust, which co-ordinates World Aids Day in Britain, said.”
The commercial, which will be broadcast in Germany, was released to coincide with 2009 World AIDS Day. Along with the Hitler advert, the ad company designed three “Aids is a Mass Murderer” pulp fiction posters depicting women having sex with Hitler, Stalin, and Saddam Hussein.
