Recently we’ve heard from President Obama, the DNC, and top Dems that the “opposition” to Obama’s healthcare reform is supplying “misinformation” to the American public. But what if the public were to learn that, since day one, the President, and other politicians, have been:
-using a key number as “fact” and as their centerpiece, to push their version of healthcare reform.
- A number designed to swell the number of “Americans” uninsured and,
- a number that includes the estimated number of illegal immigrants in the United States?
The Magic “47 Million” Number
For those uninformed about just who the Census Bureau counts, it’s not citizens of the U.S., but “residents”. From the NPR:
“The U.S. Census counts “residents” of the nation. That number includes many people who aren’t citizens, including those with a work visa or a “green card,” and also those who entered the United States illegally. Rep. Candice Miller (R-MI) discusses her proposed constitutional amendment to change the Census count to include only U.S. citizens.”
The “47 million” figure originated from a survey done by the Census Bureau, The Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2006.
What you won’t find in the survey: words or terms such as “illegal immigrant”. Instead, illegal immigrants are referred to as “foreign born households maintained by a person who was “not a citizen”.
According to the National Coalition on Healthcare, or HCHC, there are 46 million uninsured, where the “large majorityâ€, or 80%, are native, or naturalized citizens. This means that 20%, or 9.2 million of “Americans†are non-native or non-naturalized, or in simpler terms: illegal immigrants.
Current healthcare legislation states that illegal immigrants will not be covered. We believe this is a moot point as Obama and top Dems are setting the stage to pave the way for the majority of illegal immigrants to be given a form of “quickie” amnesty, a fast-tracked citizenship which would give illegal immigrants the right to vote and healthcare coverage.
On August 10th President Obama spoke before the North America Summit in Mexico. Obama stated that his administration would pursue a “comprehensive overhaul” of the immigration system and that legislation would happen in 2010.

Wrapping up the two-day meeting, Obama said that there needs to be “a pathway to citizenship” for millions of illegal immigrants in the United States, and that the system must be reworked to avoid tensions with Mexico. Without it, he said, Mexicans will keep crossing the border in dangerous ways and employers will continue exploiting workers.
“We can create a system in which you have . . . an orderly process for people to come in, but we’re also giving an opportunity for those who are already in the United States to be able to achieve a pathway to citizenship so that they don’t have to live in the shadows,” Obama said during an hour-long news conference at the Cabañas Cultural Center in downtown Guadalajara. “Am I going to be able to snap my fingers and get this done? No. This is going to be difficult.”
The “difficulty”: swaying the American public on the plan to provide quickie amnesty, then citizenship to the millions of illegal immigrants in the United States.
On April 8, the New York Times reported that Obama had planned to publicly speak about policy reform relating to illegal immigrants in May. The Times reported that Obama planned to bring about “comprehensive legislation” which would include a plan to give “legal status” for an estimated 12 million immigrants. In May, illegal immigration fell off Obama’s map as his coveted healthcare reform hit a snag. Even so, by August, Obama, while out of the country, announced a plan to provide amnesty to the majority of illegal immigrants in America. Amnesty which would mean citizenship, the right to public healthcare coverage and… the right to vote. Votes which would be crucial in upcoming elections. Votes which could be crucial key swing states in the next Presidential election and in the electoral college.
According to Pew Research, 67% of Hispanics-American citizens-voted for Obama in the 2008 election.

Hispanics are the nation’s largest and fastest growing minority group; at 46 million strong, they make up about 15% of the U.S. population. Their electoral clout continues to be undercut, however, by the fact that many are ineligible to vote, either because they are not citizens or not yet 18 years old. In 2008, Latinos will comprise about 9% of the eligible electorate nationwide. If past turnout trends persist, they will make up only about 6.5% of those who actually turn out to vote next November.
But despite these modest numbers, Hispanics loom as a potential “swing vote†in next year’s presidential race. That’s because they are strategically located on the 2008 Electoral College map. Hispanics constitute a sizable share of the electorate in four of the six states that President Bush carried by margins of five percentage points or fewer in 2004 — New Mexico (where Hispanics make up 37% of state’s eligible electorate); Florida (14%); Nevada (12%) and Colorado (12%). All four are expected to be closely contested once again in 2008.
Adding an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants or 4% of the total population as new citizens with the right to vote would mean an even larger potential to “swing” the vote in the next Presidential race. Which is why it’s crucial to Obama and the Democrats to push fast-track amnesty once healthcare reform has been passed.
As for Dems pandering to illegal immigrants, armed with the knowledge that illegal immigration reform or amnesty is in the wings…
On March 18, FOX News reported on a Nancy Pelosi speech to an audience of both “legal and illegal” immigrants in San Francisco:
“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently told a group of both legal and illegal immigrants and their families that enforcement of existing immigration laws, as currently practiced, is “un-American.”
The speaker, condemning raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, referred to the immigrants she was addressing as “very, very patriotic.”
“Who in this country would not want to change a policy of kicking in doors in the middle of the night and sending a parent away from their families?” Pelosi told a mostly Hispanic gathering at St. Anthony’s Church in San Francisco.
“It must be stopped….What value system is that? I think it’s un-American. I think it’s un-American.”"
As for those who are “un-American” and thus, unpatriotic, on August 10, in an op-ed piece in USA Today, Democrat House Speaker Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer called those who opposed Obama’s healthcare reform, “un-American”:
“These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.”
You could call this amazing, the Speaker of the House, the top dog in Congress, Nancy Pelosi, calling illegal immigrants patriotic “Americans” while calling Americans who have vocally opposed and have questioned the Democrat’s massive piece of healthcare reform legislation, “un-American”. Amazing until you look at Pelosi’s motives: Pelosi is pandering to a future constituency. A future constituency guaranteed courtesy of Barack Obama which could vote in the next Presidential election.
It’s a sure bet that once Obama and the Dem’s illegal immigration legislation gets underway, the opposition will be painted as unpatriotic, un-American, misinformed, and racist right wing Republicans. Which leads us to these numbers:

-45% of liberals oppose amnesty
-62% of Americans believe gaining control our borders trumps amnesty
-59% of Americans want stricter illegal immigration laws, deportation
-61% of Americans say illegal immigrants should not be given green cards
-65% of Americans would pay higher prices for goods, services, for tighter control on borders, less illegal immigrants
The magical 47 million “Americans” uninsured figure originated from the Census Bureau, who counts “residents” of the U.S. and not citizens. Twenty percent of the 47 million “Americans” uninsured are illegal immigrants, which, in our opinion, is the single most gross representation, or misinformation, relating to Obama’s healthcare reform.
While healthcare legislation stipulates that illegal immigrants won’t be covered, Obama continues to uses the number of illegal immigrants without healthcare coverage in the United States as the number of “Americans” uninsured. Obama either knows the number includes illegal immigrants and made the decision to refer to them as “Americans”, or, he’s using a figure that misstates the true number of Americans who are uninsured. If it’s former, then someone should call into question why the President of the United States is referring to illegal immigrants as “Americans” when trying to persuade the public to accept his proposed healthcare reform legislation. If it’s the latter, it doesn’t bode well for other “facts” and “figures” Obama and the Dems are using to persuade the public to support their proposed healthcare reform.

As long as illegal aliens DO NOT get any health care! They are to blame in a BIG way for the high cost of health care.
Illegal aliens have made America the dumping ground for all their illegal alien children, then we have to school them and give them free medical care. Talk about reform, this needs to change along with birthright citizenship. Illegal aliens are destroying tis Country and I find it amazing how many people are bling to this fact.

Even though the Democrats have stated that illegal immigrants, will not have access to Americans health care, it can easily be compromised by fraudulent use of stolen ID. BUT WE ALL SEEM TO FORGET, THAT IF THE DEMOCRATS PASS A PATH TO CITIZENSHIP–OR BLANKET AMNESTY. AS NEW CITIZENS ALONG WITH THEIR EXTENDED FAMILIES. THEY THEN WILL BE ABLE TO CONVENIENTLY ACCESS–HEALTH CARE–WITHOUT ANY RESTRAINTS? NEVER, EVER PAYING A SINGLE PENNY INTO THE SYSTEM.
Everybody in the workplace must be carefully vetted for inconsistencies with a progressively upgraded E-Verify. Even without stealing into the reformed health care system by federal law the taxpayers must support illegal immigrants for emergency medical services. Foreign nationals use this mandatory law, as an excuse for any kind of minor injury or illness.
The travesty that drives the faltering health care system is of course money. Everyday our televisions are monotonously inundated with adverts about new drugs and medicine. Personally I’m sick of the continuous kaleidescope of ads, trying to program our brains to buy another boring antihistamine? We should also question the majority of Republicans, why there are rumors of a dark conspiracy? Could it be that that these people have a cemented interest in killing any type of reform? How many of these politicians have secret stocks in multi-bed hospitals, greedy profiteering insurance firms or the pharmaceutical industry. THE QUESTION THAT MUST BE ASKED IS, WHO HAS VOTED AGAINST A PUBLIC OPTION? WHICH POLITICIANS HAVE A FINANCIAL STAKE IN KILLING ANY REFORM? IS THERE INFORMATION THAT ANSWERS THESE QUESTIONS? THINK ABOUT IT?
My health care experience was mainly in England and Australia and prior to the mass immigration invasion was positively first class. FIRST CLASS AND EXEMPLARY!
Of course the status quo doesn’t want any change in the trillion dollar medical complex, because it could strictly confine a multitude of new common sense laws? Sadly, I have listened to lies sprouting from the special interest lobby over the airwaves for weeks. Trouble is, a majority of the American people believe this tripe that we are constantly bombarded with?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your understanding of an illegal aliens is a little off and that makes your math wrong.
You state that 20% of the 47 million uninsured are illegals because they are not naturalized or native-born…actually, most of those who are not naturalized or native-born are legal aliens…people who live and work here legally.

The Cato Institute had these figures:
“Another 10 million uninsured “Americans” are, at least technically, not Americans. Approximately 5.6 million are illegal immigrants, and another 4.4 million are legal immigrants but not citizens.”
In my opinion, 5.6 illegal immigrants, or whatever the true number is, do not constitute “Americans”, nor should their numbers be used to pad the numbers of “Americans uninsured”.

Despite being dropped from the Dem’s rhetoric on the numbers of uninsured, the estimated 15 million uninsured which Obama and Dem’s quit counting in the summer are still out there and will continue to impact healthcare reform including the current primary care physician shortage.
