Hillary Clinton and the Somali Pirates: Sec. of State Flunks Pirate History 101

Will The Pirates Fear The Hillary Clinton Cackle?

Hillary Clinton recently addressed the Somali pirate situation with a surreal series of observations that seemed to imply that America was going to do absolutely nothing about it and that is was a criminal enterprise that required an international solution.

Hillary then went on to revise history stating that Morocco was the first nation to recognize America. She went on to emphasize that America and Morocco thought they had vanquished piracy back in the 1800s.

Is she really that stupid?

Somali pirates break deal to free American ship Captain

Morocco recognized America because until that time, American ships were protected from Moroccan piracy by the British jizya, or extortion money, paid by the crown to Morocco. By recognizing America, Morocco was able to break the extent of protection offered by the jizya. The first American vessel to be captured and its crew enslaved was in 1777. By Morocco. Morocco was a pirate state and piracy was considered jihad.

“In 1786, Thomas Jefferson, then the ambassador to France, and John Adams, ambassador to Britain, met in London with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, a visiting ambassador from Tripoli. The Americans asked Adja why his government was hostile to American ships, even though there had been no provocation. They reported to the Continental Congress that the ambassador had told them “it was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave,” but he also told them that for what they considered outrageous sums of money they could make peace.”

Hillary’s politically correct, factual ignorant, reality challenged, insipid response is accented by her insane cackle.

The Moroccans did not help us “rid” American ships of piracy. We did it ourselves. By burning Moroccan ships and harbors to ashes.

This woman is a disgrace.

Everyone should call the State Dept comment line at 202-647-6575 and leave a message, informing the SoS of this history. Like I said during the campaign, she’d make a better VP than I would – didn’t say anything about SoS, though!

I’m not sure why you’ve chosen to insert that quote at all. Tripoli is not in Morocco. Are your accusations supported at all?

Frankly, I am almost at a lost to begin to answer such a question. Do you really believe that Libya existed in 1801? Did you go to High School? Do you know who Barbarossa is? Have you read any early maps or taken a geography course? Have you read a book? Did you read the cite? There are writers here that are a bit more forgiving than me, But I am not given to such. You are a idiot.

There was a Morocco in 1801 and I think you’ll find that Tripoli was not a part of it.
And your grammar leaves much to be desired, high school graduate.

Do I need to know who the f is Barbarossa to know that Tripoli is not in Morocco?

“Piracy was considered jihad” ???? WTF?? “Jihad” against who? and why? and if that’s true, why would they recognize the United States?

And about your question “Do you really believe that Libya existed in 1801?”. Libya was part of the Ottoman Empire by then, which was an enemy of Morocco. So I don’t think they have anything to do.

    Get some information.

Although her laughing about the situation is certainly out of place, she actually has her facts straight:

    Background and overview
Algiers, Tunis, and Tripoli, although nominally governed by the Islamic Ottoman Empire, had been largely independent Muslim states since the 17th century. The monarchy of Morocco, which had been under its current government since 1666, was well known by the time of the Barbary Wars for supporting piracy.[1] But since it had signed and recognized a treaty with the United States in 1777, and never harassed American ships, Morocco was not involved in the Barbary Wars like the other North African states.

    Just to complete the answers.

Morocco was the first country to recognise the independent United States. This was made as part of the “competition” between Morocco and the UK as maritime powers.

Pirates were used by all countries as an instrument to controle the main commercial routes. The Corsairs of St Malo (France are just as famous as Barbarossa who used to live in Tunis)

The US Navy was built with pirates (this is not an insult to the Navy, on the contrary… they took the best sailors)

The agreement signed by Adams was a non agression treaty…. and it has never been broken after 232 years…

Libya was part of the Ottoman empire (but this has been said already).

Finally, regarding the current pirates in Somalia, I suggest reading this article
    http://english.aljazeera.net/news/africa/2008/10/2008109174223218644.html

It highlights the real causes of piracy in Somalia

You know, I don’t know what it is with you guys. I cite an article and acknowledge that Morocco was first to recognozie the US. It was also the first country other than the crown to attack the US. As for ‘naval’ completion, that is nonsense. The Barbary States were pirate Staes plain and simple. Disgusting savages that needed the Ottomans to prop up their dying way of existence.

YOur last statement is racist. I strongly invite you to apologise.

I remind you that FRance, the UK,and the Netherlands were all using and financing corsairs (the polite name of pirates). The East Indian Company (of the NEtherlands) had pirates working for them (you can find the salaries in the financial statements).

The fact that all these countries and the Empire of Morocco were competing for the controle of strategic maritim routes is a fact.

But you want to play the “Clash of civilisations”, so there is no discussion possible. We don’t discuss with extremists and fanatics like you.
