Octo Mom Names Eight Different Dads As Babies’ Fathers?
Octo Mom Nadya Suleman could, hypothetically, if she chose to, given any last “name” to each of her eight babies, if she lived in England due to a new ruling. The ruling allows women who give birth to IVF babies, such as in Suleman’s case with 8 IVF babies (and no father) here in the U.S., the right to give their babies any “last” name regarding the paternity of the father. All in the “name” of political correctness.

Political Correctness Without A Rule Book
One of the attributes about politically correct institutions and authorities is that there is no rule book. They make up the rules as they go, each trying to be the first to enter new territory. To find a new “right”, a new victim, a new imposition on business or the public. A new scourge, a new hatred, a new cause. This ofter leads to chaos. Hence we see the most tolerant becoming intolerant, freedom of speech being curtailed, and words losing their meaning.
Another blow to fatherhood: IVF mothers can name ANYONE as ‘father’ on birth certificate
Form Britain another bit of insanity.
“Family values were under attack again last night with the news that single women having [In Vitro Fertilization] will be able to name anyone they like as their baby’s father on the birth certificate.
New regulations mean that a mother could nominate another woman to be her child’s ‘father’.
The ‘father’ does not need to be genetically related to the baby, nor be in any sort of romantic relationship with the mother.
IVF treatment
Critics have sounded a warning about the ability of single women who have successful IVF treatment to nominate a person as the ‘father’
Critics said a woman could list her best friend on the birth certificate. The word ‘father’ may even be replaced with the phrase ’second parent’.
The second parent, who will have to consent to being named, will take on the legal and moral responsibilities of parenthood.
This raises the spectre of a legal minefield in which female ‘fathers’ will fight for visitation rights and be chased for child support payments if their fragile relationship with the mother breaks down.
The changes, due to come in on April 6, will apply to many of the 2,000 women a year who have IVF using sperm from anonymous donors.”
The problem with this bit of slight of hand is the named person is not the father. So the purpose of the birth certificate is entirely subverted. As the article points out,
“The new rules state: ‘The women receiving treatment with donor sperm (or embryos created with donor sperm) can consent to any man or woman being the father or second parent.’ The only exemption is close blood relatives.
Critics said the change would lead to the role of father being downgraded to the one of godfather and warned that the child would be the one to lose out.
Baroness Deech, a former chairman of the HFEA, said the practice would lead to the ‘ falsification of the birth certificate’.
She said: ‘This is putting the rights of the parents way above those of the child. It is absurd that anyone can be named as the father or the second parent.’
Dr Trevor Stammers, a GP and lecturer in healthcare ethics, questioned the strength of the relationships or friendships between the mother and ‘father’.
He said: ‘There is no doubt from sociological evidence accumulated over the past few years that children do best in a two-parent married family with heterosexual couples being the married parents.
‘It probably will be the child that is the loser but by the time we find that out, in 15 or 16 years, a huge amount of damage will have been done.’
Geraldine Smith, Labour MP for Morecambe, said a birth certificate should be a true record of a child’s genetic heritage. She added: ‘I don’t think the state should collude with parents to conceal the true genetic identity.”
Society has put the transitory desires of IVF moms above that of a child. And doesn’t this imply that others need not name anyone, also?
What could go wrong? If this ruling were to happen to be applied here in California, the home state of Octo Mom Nadya Suleman, then each of her eight babies could, hypothetically be given a different last name.
According to US Magazine, Octo Mom’s first six children’s birth certificates have been revealed and that the subsequent octoplets’ birth certificates have no father named :
The octuplet’s birth certificates were all signed by Nadya Suleman without any mention of a father, TMZ.com reports.
The birth certificates of the Octo Mom’s first six children, however, have David Solomon listed as the dad on all but two. All 14 have Solomon’s last name, according to TMZ.
On each of the documents that Solomon signed, he listed a different date of birth. The Associated Press first reported that he alternated dates — from 5/25/75 to 6/25/73 to 5/25/73 to 6/25/75 — on each certificate and also listed Israel as his “State of Birth.”
Two days before the certificates began circulating online, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors officially urged the state’s Board of Medical Examiners — the agency that licenses fertility doctors — to investigate Suleman’s case.

Then there is that bit about legal responsibilities. Wonder how that will play out in the courts?

Yes, well, in regards to the eight “octo” babies, perhaps the tax payers of the United States should be named as the “fathers”, after all, they’ll be the ones paying for these children’s upbringing.
As for “legal responsibilities”, this ruling has, as you pointed out, circumvented a system established to facilitate legal responsibilities. The courts will now have to sort out and establish new criteria based on mother’s “whims”.

the good news is Victor Munoz is likely to profit more off of this fiasco than Nadya Suleman, as his lawyers are going to shred through that confidentiality agreement tomorrow and then we will get ALL THE DIRT! Yay!
