Vince,

I appreciate you taking the time to once comment. Once again, we have a differing viewpoints to the Tea Bag protests. This is your viewpoint:

"The teabagging itself was not annoying, or the problem…the problem is that’s where it starts…..you keep getting the ignorant, or the followers, or the dont’-ask-questions groups to start being ‘outraged’ over something they know nothing about…..well then you’re playing with fire. It’s America and Freedom and Apple Pie as long as they’re running things…..put someone else in charge, and its Socialism, Fascism and the country is going to hell".

You've labeled everyone who disagrees with the stimulus plan as "ignorant" or "followers" and as "something" they "don't know about". Again, I disagree.

You talk about "sheep" and "blind trust". You seem to forget that the politicians in Washington are supposed to be representatives of the people, not the other way around. People have the right to question how their tax dollars will be spent. They also have the right to question how much tax they should be held liable for and how big the government should be.

Reagan won his first term because of the support of "lunch box" Democrats who were sick and tired of the massive inflation and "Misery Index".

You assumed that the protesters are Republicans. Here's a clue, Independents aren't happy about the stimulus bill either.
People have a tendency to vote with their pocketbooks.

Here's hoping that the economy turns around and that America has a bright future where everyone with diverging viewpoints can peacefully coexist.

incensed? really? I thought we were having fun....? (shrug).
Oh well....

As for Obama with gay marriage.....hey, he's not perfect after all. =) Our first Gay President will take care of that one.

And I'm not sure why you keep throwing around the 'intellectual' word.....never said that, that was you. And yes.....I do 'assume' you are Bush supporters who feel you are being Patriotic.....mostly because the entire time I've said it no one has denied it...God Forbid I be called a Bush supporter....that's how most of us feel....at least 56% of us anyway.

Looks like the teabagging made a big splash in the media...that's cool (seriously, protest in all forms is great, keeps us reminded of the freedoms we do have). Funny you would even do it if it was so 'innocuous' in your eyes....?

I think the reason I may seem 'incensed' is because it's not just your 'ideals' or your 'thoughts' you're expouting....but then you push those 'ideals' on other people in the form of Prop 8, Bush's lying about WMD's to get Congress to approve the war, etc.....and that's when the Right becomes dangerous to everyone else.

It's the amazing ability of the group/party who loves to refer to themselves as Convervatives, Christian, Family Oriented and (most annoyingly) Strong Moral Values that does things like create a huge deficit, kill thousands of innocent US Troops, kill millions of innocent Iraqis, Lie, cheat, deceit and then deny it all. THAT is what gets 'people like me' annoyed.....because even though Obama won, 46% of this country still voted for a war-monger because of issues like abortion (we value life..???), and Christian values (we lied and bombed a country...????)

The hyprocrisy is not annoying, it's not inconvenient...it's dangerous and it's deadly...and innocent people die when others start 'saying what they think' and then you find out they didn't even 'think' it themselves, somebody like Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity or Chaney TOLD them to think it.

The teabagging itself was not annoying, or the problem...the problem is that's where it starts.....you keep getting the ignorant, or the followers, or the dont'-ask-questions groups to start being 'outraged' over something they know nothing about.....well then you're playing with fire. And yet....not one 'teabagger' questioned the refusal to obey the Constitution? the Geneva Convention or General Moral Practices.....and you don't want to be 'grouped' together......well, guess what....you're grouping yourself.

Stand out from the sheep....voice your opinion when it's just that YOUR opinion....it's so annoying to see us go two steps forward (clinton) and ten steps back (bush)...its time to go forward again....quit fighting it.....McCain can be president next time and push us back ten more steps when the time comes....then we can all sit by and sigh in relief that a 'True American' is in office....but until then....you're just kinda loud and annoying and sorta showing how Conservative America is basically........sore losers.

Seriously, so done with this.....take care, God Bless....and good luck with your next 'protest' to save America.

Vince,

Quoting Paul Begala was quite interesting. Surprised you didn't throw in some James Carville too.
I imagine you've grown weary of "smacking down" the right wing "hypocrisy" yet, I recall, you made reference to "gay marriage". As an Obama supporter, how you do rectify the fact that Obama has been quite consistent in his statement that while he will support gay unions, he too, is against gay marriage?

You've made quite a few assumptions in your previous comments about this site being Bush supporters and about patriotism. As an "intellectual" you do know what happens when people "assume" don't you?

As for "freedom of thought", we believe in this right too. Even "freedom of thought" such as yours. Rather than focusing on an issue pertaining to taxes, you threw in Bush torture, the Patriotism Act, and other assorted "acts" of the Bush administration.

I think it's kind of strange that people like yourself became so incensed over the rather innocuous tea bag protests.

Begala put it better than anyone has...exactly my point:

It's been nice talking to you about this 'teabag' joke.....next time FOX makes up something to 'invigorate' you 'patriots'....i'll come back and let you tell me how my goal posts keep moving.

btw......I didn't realize the Tea Bagging was not in response to what is actually happening...but in response to what COULD happen under Obama. FOX is still working on the ol' Fear Mongering still, after all these years...seems to be working. Good luck following your PARTY and calling it Patriotism. Take care.

They just interviewed 'teabagger's' outside the White House....they said they weren't complaining about what was happening 'now'...they were complaining about what could happen 'in the future'.......

I find that funny. With the war, the patriot act, the secret prisons, condoning torture......since when did conservatives become 'worried about the future'...?

So I get a little more per paycheck, in turn helping to stimulate the economy....and next year I pay taxes on what was given to me (which I expected to pay anyway)...and our economy is stable. Ok, so tell me why that's bad.

Did you really think we were getting free money? We're not the corporate system under Bush....we're still responsible for what we're given....no handouts for the non-rich, we all know that.

And YES, it's still called a Tax cut, as taxes are being cut, thus the name. But I see your point.....though I've never, once again, said...obama is so awesome cuz i'm getting money...wooohoooo!!!! What i've said from the beginning...someone is actually DOING SOMETHING to fix this country....and oddly, the people who didn't vote for him are all up in arms...when under their cowboy, we were in a free-fall spiral...but somehow that was ok? Hypocrisy at its best.

I cannot say it more eloquently than Begala:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/15/begala.taxes/index.html?iref=mpstoryview

BTW.....I saw a study they did when they gave conservatives speeches made my McCain and Obama to read, but they switched the names on them....guess what??? The conservatives agreed with the McCain speech (which was really Obama's) and disagreed with the Obama speech (which was really McCain).

The Freedom we should all be fighting for is the FREEDOM of THOUGHT......it's not Patriotism...it's PARTY-TISM......blindly following those who lead.

O'Reilly last night, who spends ALL his time bashing Obama......when they found out Spain is considering indicting the Bush Administration for War Crimes....said.....Come on Obama, you're the President of America, you can't let this happen.......what, suddenly he's the President????? Not a joke when you need him? Again......Right Wing Hypocrisy.......

It's been nice talking with you......about this whole 'teabag' joke.....see you again when FOX news thinks of something to 'invigorate' all the patriots again.

The Freedom we should all be fighting for is the FREEDOM of THOUGHT……it’s not Patriotism…it’s PARTY-TISM……blindly following those who lead.

O’Reilly last night, who spends ALL his time bashing Obama……when they found out Spain is considering indicting the Bush Administration for War Crimes….said…..Come on Obama, you’re the President of America, you can’t let this happen…….what, suddenly he’s the President????? Not a joke when you need him? Again……Right Wing Hypocrisy…….

It’s been nice talking with you……about this whole ‘teabag’ joke…..see you again when FOX news thinks of something to ‘invigorate’ all the patriots again.

Vince,

Why argue about facts?

Go to the IRS (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040tt.pdf).

While the withholding tables have changed for 2009, the tax rate tables remain the same.
What does that mean?

It's means that workers are getting to put an additional $13/week in their pockets--until April 15, 2010. That's when they will be asked to pony up that money back to the government. While they're letting you keep $13 more/week for the next year, they still want the same amount of tax bucks for what you earn at the end of that year.

So, they're just kinda loaning you the money--your money.

This is obviously not a tax cut.

But Obama isn't the first to pull these shenanigans and call it a tax cut. Bush II also did this, but the tax rate tables were also cut as well. So, most of his tax cut actually was a tax cut.

Thanks for adding to the discussion.

Actually, you went and found a credible news organization...good job.

Did you actually READ the article though...lol......he SUPPORTS the stimulus, he only says that the changes made are for some projects that are going to be too slow in creating quick jobs for Americans. He's not against it, because he understands (as a journalist, an economist and a free thinker) how a stimulus is needed at a time like this...he only thinks it should have been applied differently.

That's called an opinion about HOW something is done, not getting all bothered at WHAT was done...and not offering any other solutions (ie: teabaggin')

Heck, I even agree with him...I think a lot more of the money should be spent on things that can happen NOW.....screw getting healthcare paperwork system up to the 21st Century....lets overhaul it altogether......and just put the damn Universal Healthcare in place. (and before you go off on why Universal Healthcare doesn't work, blah blah....remember that our US MILITARY has and has always been on their own Universal Healthcare system......in case you need something to 'prove' it works).

This journalist actually would advocate for MORE stimulus if you've ever read the writings of Robert Samuelson....he's a journalist that finds FACTS and says his mind. He's never been a believer in Obama since the beginning.....but his writings are articulate, thought out and based on fact, not right wing fiction. In fact, he doesn't even VOTE because he feels as a journalists he should remain impartial.

Did you just google Obama, Stimulus, Disappointment and that's what you got....well touche'

and in reference to earlier...how is you referencing a right wing news group 'focusing on Obamas stimulus package?'...all you're doing is regurgitating the words of people who have an agenda.....and only one agenda.....fear and hate. I'd LOVE to remain on issue....but you gotta stop quoting funny stuff.....next you'll bring out the bible and show me how Corithians shows Obama's tax cut is a sin!!!

and what is with this 'goal post' kick you are on....did Bill O'Reilly use that and now its a talking point? I keep rereading what I write and thinking....where am I moving, dodging, swaying? I ask simple questions and have yet to receive any ANSWER on any of them.....I guess if we're going to compare 'goal posts' moving....I should ask advice of the expert.....what is the best way to move these things?????

Vince,

Moving goalposts is your forte.

Shall we, once more, focus on the Obama's Stimulus package. This time it's Newsweek. I'm sure you''ll "find fault" with them too.
