Caylee Anthony Memorial Service in Florida as New Little Girl, Haleigh Cummings, is Reported Missing

Due to the marvels of the internet viewers were able to watch the Caylee Anthony Memorial Service live via Tampa Bay Online. Juxtaposed against the backdrop of the service was the news from northeast Florida that another little girl had been reported missing.
Five-yr-old Haleigh Cummings
An Amber Alert has been issued for five-year-old Haleigh Cummings of Satsuma, Florida. Details are few, the little girl was last seen at 3 a.m. in her bedroom wearing a pink shirt and underwear. In a strange coincidence Haleigh’s name rhymes with Caylee’s.
SATSUMA, FL — An Amber Alert has now been issued for a missing 5-year-old girl from Putnam County.
Haleigh Cummings was last seen at 10 p.m. Monday in her bedroom at a home in the Hermit’s Cove subdivision in Satsuma. The little girl was home with her father’s girlfriend and a 2-year-old sibling. Authorities haven’t said whether the sibling was in the same room with Haleigh when she disappeared.
The little girl’s father left work at 3 a.m. The father’s girlfriend called 911 to report the little girl missing at about 3:45 a.m. The girl’s mother lives in Glen St. Mary.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reports she had on a pink shirt and underwear.
The girl is three feet tall and weighs 39 pounds.

Notably missing from Caylee’s memorial service, her mother, 22-yr-old Casey Anthony. Purportedly Casey did not request to watch the service from her current abode, the Orange County Corrections Center. Missing from the video montage of Caylee, any video of Casey with Caylee.

The memorial service was the first step towards closure, closure which may take years due to Casey Anthony’s upcoming trial and her continuing to claim she is innocent in her 2-yr-old daughter’s murder.
“Goodbye, Caylee Marie”. These were the words uttered by Cindy Anthony at the end of a song performed about Caylee and the loss of the ability of her loved ones to say goodbye.
It’s been 210 days since July 15 when Cindy Anthony discovered her granddaughter had been “missing” for “31 days”.
It’s been 61 days since December 11, when Caylee’s skeletal remains were discovered less than a 1/2 mile from the Anthony home. Fifty-three days since the authorities confirmed the remains were Caylee’s.
The authorities have hypothesized that Caylee was murdered some time around the date of June 16, the last date anyone has come forward and claimed to have seen Caylee. According to news sources, the last person known to have seen Caylee, other than her mother Casey, was George Anthony who purportedly watched his granddaughter and daughter leave the family home on the 16th.
The case immediately garnered national attention, a little girl who was about to turn 3 in August hadn’t been reported missing by her mother until a month later. The mother, when filling out a missing persons report, was caught lying about key statements. In fact, according to one investigator, almost every single detail reported by Casey Anthony was false.
Casey Anthony claimed in the missing persons report that Caylee had been “abducted” 31 days prior by her “nanny”, a woman named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzales. Casey claimed she had dropped Caylee off with the nanny on the morning of June 9, on her way to work at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. Casey claimed that when she returned to Gonzalez’s apartment, Casey was unable to locate Caylee or the nanny. Casey claimed she spent the next weeks “searching” for Caylee. This came as a shock to Casey’s friends and new boyfriend, 21-yr-old Anthony Lazzaro, as they had “partied” with Casey during this period and told the authorities that Casey hadn’t mentioned that her daughter had been absconded.
Immediately after filing the missing persons report the Orange County Sheriff’s Department discovered that the apartment that Casey claimed was the nanny’s had been vacant for several months. Police did locate a Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzales, a woman who claimed she had never met Casey or Caylee. The authorities discovered that Gonzales had filled out a guest card at the apartment complex, the same complex located across the street from where a friend of Casey’s, Ricardo Morales, resided in another set of apartments. Casey had purportedly spent time at Morales’ place with Caylee in tow.
The police were unable to find where Casey Anthony had received or placed a phone call to anyone named Zenaida Gonzales. Friends and family of Casey had never met the “nanny” but had certainly “heard” about her in the months before Caylee’s disappearance and murder. Casey had told friends and family that she worked at Universal and that Caylee was staying with the nanny, Casey called “Zanny”.
During the 31 days Caylee was purportedly missing, Casey had told friends that Caylee was with “Zanny” the nanny at such kid friendly places as Disney World and Universal. It wasn’t until Casey was forced by her mother into making the missing persons report that Casey then began to claim her daughter had been missing, “kidnapped” by nanny Zanny.
Even after the authorities found that there was no connection between the real Zenaida Gonzales and Casey Anthony and that Casey hadn’t been employed for months, Casey continued and still continues to claim Caylee was with her nanny. This claim is still being employed even after Caylee’s remains were discovered in a small wooded area less than a 1/2 mile from the Anthony home, an area where Casey purportedly hung out with friends at a younger age. At Casey’s upcoming First Degree Murder trial it will be interesting to see what her defense will come up with. So far, her parents have been her greatest asset, claiming that their daughter is innocent. Yet due to the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and death of Caylee, Casey’s parents and brother will undoubtedly be witnesses for both the prosecution and the defense.

The missing 5 year old Haleigh is so very sad. Abducted from her home in the middle of the night, right out from under her father’s girlfriend who was sleeping next to her in the same bed with her little brother. A brazen attack that will most likely be relived in the abductor’s mind over and over again for the thrill of it. Haleigh probably only has a few days in this person’s custody before he disposes of her. The abductor is a predator and will do this again.
From the facts of this case gathered so far, it seems obvious that she was kidnapped by someone who was familiar with this family. They knew how to get in quietly, left the door open for a quick retreat and was gone before the father got home at 3:30 am. The tracking dogs also scented the little girl to the river.
The person that took Haleigh probably watched her for some time. He knew when the father would be out and when he would return. He was probably close enough to know where they slept and that the girlfriend usually got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. He probably unlocked the back door sometime before the abduction and made sure there was something there to hold the door open. He carefully planned his getaway and most likely using a boat to access one of the many off shoots from the St. John’s river. This was a carefully orchestrated attack by someone from the area who knew the daily habits of this family. He probably waited for the girlfriend to leave the bed to use the restroom and took Haleigh then. I don’t see how you could snatch a sleeping 5 year old from a bed and not wake an adult sleeping next to her.
The police should look in the woods near this house because thats where he probably hid while watching this family. Maybe he smoked or left garbage that would lead to him somehow. If there were a certain brand of cigarette butts or candy wrappers recently discarded, they could check the local convience store for sales. There may be a video of the individual purchasing these items. I would also check gas stations in the area because he probably filled gas tanks for his boat. I’m confident that he practiced the get-a-way and probably used a boat to a remote location where he left his car. She’s close, someone this careful in his planning wouldn’t take the risk of transporting her very far.
Her grandmother’s comment of sensing that Haleigh is nearby and screaming is probably more accurate than we want to believe.

This story highlights the tragic fact that children are not safe in their own homes. The first case that highlighted this fact, at least in my memory, was that of 13-yr-old Polly Klaus. The police were unwilling to believe that anyone would act so brazenly as to snatch a girl in front of her friends during a sleep-over. They even went so far as to view her father as a suspect.
Predators can and do strike whenever they choose, even entering people’s homes and snatching children. What’s truly sad is that there are so many of them in our midst, and some have yet to be arrested and entered in the sexual predator database. The David Westerfield case in California comes to mind.

One more thing.
Compare the reaction of Haleigh’s parent’s to that of Caley Anthony’s. Both had their beautiful daughters abducted, but I don’t see Haleighs parents getting a tatoo saying “its a beautiful life” and euphorically partying at their local nigh club.
