Casey Anthony Case: The Curious Coincidence of the Heart Shaped Sticker at the Crime Scene and the Heart Photoshopped on Caylee’s Photo
Killers almost always leave clues at their crime scenes, either inadvertently or intentionally. In the case of little 2-yr.-old Caylee Anthony, her killer left behind a heart shaped clue: an indentation in the shape of a small heart on the duct tape that covered Caylee’s remains. A small heart sticker, the same size and shape as the indentation, was recovered at the scene. Investigators believe the sticker was placed on the duct tape that covered little Caylee’s mouth intentionally.
Forensic psychologists will have a field day discussing the motives behind the heart shaped sticker.
When we were perusing evidence photos relating to the Casey Anthony case, we discovered a photo that belonged to Casey Anthony that was retrieved from her Photobucket account. The date the photo was posted on the site: June 3, 2008. Someone had photoshopped the image of a small heart onto the bottom left side of the photo, weeks before Caylee allegedly went missing.

Photo retrieved from Casey Anthony’s Photobucket account
In Discovery documents released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Caylee’s remains were found wrapped in a black plastic bag, then placed inside a tan laundry bag. Caylee’s skull was found with silver duct tape placed across her mouth and attached to her hair. Forensic investigators later detected the heart shaped indentation indicating that someone had placed a heart shaped sticker over the duct tape.
Inside the one of the bags, investigators found clothing: a small pair of white shorts, size 2T with vertical stripes, a shirt, size 3T, small cloth iron-on letters, as well as a Winnie the Pooh blanket. At the crime scene, investigators also discovered a small toy plastic horse. A Search Warrant requested that investigators search the Anthony home for any type of similar toy horse. Also listed in the search warrant: arts and crafts material, stickers, scrapbooking material, as well as Casey Anthony’s shoes and the clothing Caylee was last seen wearing on June 16.
The next photo was found by investigators to have been posted by Casey on her photobucket account:
As well as this one which was posted on May 31:
On July 7, Casey Anthony wrote the following entry on her MySpace page. The entry was subsequently deleted:
On the worst of worst days,
Remember the words spoken.Trust no one,
only yourself.With great power,
comes great consequence.What is given,
can be taken away.Everyone lies.
Everyone dies.
Life will never be easy.
On the worst of worst days,
Remember the words spoken.Hold your head high.
Smile.
Laugh.
Love unconditionally.
Tomorrow is a brand new day.
[Currently watching American Psycho]
July 7 is also significant as it was the same day that Casey Anthony posted a reply to her mother Cindy’s Myspace message:
In a MySpace entry, Casey Anthony’s mother, Cindy Anthony, wrote, “The daughter who stole money, lots of money, leaves without warning. Where did she go?”
About Caylee, Cindy Anthony wrote, “Who is now watching out for the little angel?”
On July 7, Casey Anthony wrote back to Cindy in an online poem:
“What is given can be taken away. Everyone lies, everyone dies.”
While the significance of the heart shaped sticker, which left an imprint on the duct tape covering Caylee’s mouth, has yet to be ascertained, the photo of Caylee found by investigators on Casey Anthony’s Photobucket account with a heart photoshopped on the bottom left hand corner, seems to be almost too eerie to dismiss as coincidental.
Yesterday I wrote about Casey Anthony and how she, a malignant narcissist, had a pattern of manipulating her parents. In the article I cited a story reported by CFNews where Cindy claimed that Casey “may be trying to send clues” to her family while incarcerated at the Orange County Correction Center:
Even more bizarre was a report from CFNews 13 on July 21 where Cindy claimed that Casey “knows†where Caylee is and that Casey may be trying to send “clues†to her family “but isn’t able to tell the whole story to investigatorsâ€.
“Her plan was to get us all back together, and I think her plan has changed and I think that’s what happened,†said Cindy Anthony. “Her plan changed halfway through, and she doesn’t know where it’s at right now. I truly believe Casey knows who has Caylee but it’s code name. That’s why they can’t find that person just yet.â€
What’s interesting to note is Casey’s mother’s observation that her daughter had a penchant for sending oblique messages or “clues”.
At this juncture, the only connection regarding the heart sticker at the crime scene and the photo of Caylee with the superimposed red heart is merely conjecture. Hopefully someone will be able ascertain as to the reason why, and also when, the person who killed little Caylee chose to place a heart sticker on the duct tape covering her mouth.

WoW!!! I don’t know what to say… All this info, is too much! I just want to cry. I hope and pray that God and His Angels took her away before she knew what her so-called mother was doing to her. Every time I see pictures of Caylee, my heart breaks. I hope Caysey pays for this forever, and ever ! She’s worried about how much her life has changed… There’s a few words I wish I can tell her…..

Wonderful article!!
I have been facinated with this since the beginning and watch the Nancy Grace coverage almost everyday to keep current, but the information in your article was far more informative. Your reporting of the photoshopped heart sticker on the picture of Caley has not been discussed anywhere on the news so far. And the actual wordage of the e-mail Casey sent to her Mother in July is extremely telling of her state of mind during the time she supposedly was looking for her daughter.
Since you are obviously in touch with this investigation, maybe you have a comment on my theory. I copied the Google searches Casey made in March concerning neck breaking and household weapons, and they don’t seem to apply to a woman that wants to kill a small child. She already had the recipe for Chloroform that could easily kill a child, and had access to her parents pool to simply let her daughter drown. Killing a 2 year old child doesn’t require such an aggressive and hands on approach. It doesn’t fit her lazy persona, she was even too lazy to actually bury the remains. The other searches gave me the impression that she was either in fear of her safety and/or wanted to do harm to someone. It leads me to believe that she was planning to hurt someone else, someone who would not sit still for the chloroform treatment. Maybe her mother. After the fight they had in June, it was reported that the mother was so mad she choked Casey. They had a history of not getting along so its probable that physical aggression at this level hjad occurred before. Or maybe there is another player in this scenario that Casey is afraid of.
The information on what Casey was doing from March – June 2009 is extremely improtant to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of Caley. Her parents thought she was at work, but where was she and what did she do with Caley during that time. Does anyone, other than the Prosecutors, have access to this information?

“Killing a 2 year old child…”
My God. What an abysmally sick & sad commentary on the human condition. How could any person (much less a mother) consider breaking the neck of a beautiful two year-old? Exactly how sick in the head would one have to be?
The very idea leaves me speechless.

I agree this woman isn’t fit to be called an animal. Animals don’t kill there young! She is definately a very narcisistic person. She doesn’t deserve to live let alone enjoy life in jail. Jail is more comfortable than some peoples lives.

Heidi,
What a great post. You’ve pointed out some interesting things worth considering, especially in regards to Casey and her mother.

I believe you’ve made some great observations:
Casey’s computer searches in March were for “neck breaking” and “household weapons” which seemed to indicate a larger, older victim.
She already had the recipe for chloroform that could easily kill a child, as well as access to the pool.
The fight between Casey and her mother in June and the two’s history of aggression.
The possibility of another “player” besides Casey.
I’ve been toying with the possibility that, in part, Casey may have killed Caylee to get back at her mother.
The response to her mother’s MySpace message, “people lied, people died”, was both strange and cruel.
Her mother wrote about jealousy being a motive for Casey not contacting her or letting her see Caylee. Could Casey have been so twisted to perceive her mother’s love for Caylee, a love that most grandmothers have, as yet another reason to hate Mom enough to kill her?
Caylee was clearly perceived by Casey as an “impediment”. Casey’s mom truly cared for Caylee and most likely was on her daughter to take care of Caylee.
This crime is so tragic on so many levels.
Thanks again, for taking the time to post your comment.

I think Caley died within hours (my guess is probably the next day) after leaving her parents house in June. What child wouldn’t be upset after hearing the fight between Casey and Cindy and then being scooped up late at night and taken “somewhere”. Casey was upset and probably “quieted” Caley so she could think. The next few weeks, Casey lived a fantasy life. Getting the tatoo, knowing she had the upper hand with her mother, going out with her friends, staying at her boyfriends house. The pictures of her at the Hot Body Contest, show a very euphoric Casey. Finally she had everything she wanted, and then her mother ruins everything by calling the police.
So sad.

Debbi,
I saw your comment and our hearts and prayers go out to you.
Casey Anthony’s demeanor, how she acted both before she reported Caylee missing, and after, has been truly “cold hearted” and “horrible”, one of the reasons I feel the jury will convict her of Caylee’s murder.
Thanks for leaving your comment.

If Casey wanted to get back at her mother she could have given her away to anyone out there she didn’t have to kill the child to get back at her mother or hurt her mother. But she obviously didn’t care about the child or had her own sense of possesive love for her that if she couldn’t have no one could. I remember in a jail video where she was visiting wither her parents in august she mentioned that the thought of someone else raising her child made her sick to her stomach it was almost like she was sending a message to her parents that having anyone raise her but Casey would make her sick. Casey also told Jessie that she did not want to put the baby up for adoption because she had went through carrying her for 9 months not that she loved her but that the fact that she had to work for something she wouldn’t give it up. Yes shes selfish. Poor Caylee she didn’t have a chance with that mother too bad the grandmother didn’t have her arrested that night for stealing money from the nursing home life always gives us warning signs but I think God had a greater plan for this little angel. God bless her grandparents may they find joy in their lives and the love of Caylee in their hearts forever.

What do u mean by photoshopped? That the heart sticker was puton the photo by some stranger after evidence came out? That it was never really there?

Sorry, Sue, what I meant was that someone photoshopped, or superimposed the heart image onto the photo before the police found it on Casey Anthony’s computer.
Thanks for the head’s up!
