Missing 6-month-old Riley Archer Buchness

Some say truth is stranger than fiction and this story may apply: a Florida couple claim their 6-month old baby boy has been missing since Tuesday and that the baby was last seen with the “nanny”.

Police have issued an Amber Alert for 6-month old Riley Archer Buchness reported missing yesterday by his parents, John Buchness and Meagan McCormic.

The couple claim the nanny’s name is “Camille” but they don’t know her last name. The police say the couple has given a “vague description” of the nanny and that she is 5′ 6″, weighs approximately 130 pds, has long brown hair, and speaks with a heavy French accent. She also drives a red Acura with possibly Massachusetts plates.

The couple, who recently moved to Miami, claim they knew “Camille” from when they lived in Boston and that the nanny had previously babysat baby Riley. According to the couple, Camille had promised to drop off Riley at 1 p.m.. Camille then text messaged two hours later saying she was stuck in traffic. Riley’s mother claims she called Camille and told her Riley could stay over Tuesday night but to return the baby on Wednesday. After Camille didn’t show up by 8 p.m. Wednesday, and hadn’t responded to cell phone calls or text messages, Riley’s parents notified the police.

DBKP UPDATE at 1630 December 26, 2008:
Casey Anthony Case: Miami Police Charge Woman Who Claimed Baby was Taken by Nanny

On July 15, 22-yr-old Casey Anthony of Orlando, Florida, filed a missing persons report claiming her two-yr-old daughter, Caylee, had been “kidnapped” by the little girl’s nanny. Casey Anthony claimed Caylee had been missing for “31 days” and that the nanny, Zenaida Gonzales, had taken her. When asked by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department why Anthony hadn’t contacted the authorities earlier, Anthony stated that she had told two coworkers at Universal.

A check by investigators found that Anthony had been fired by Universal in 2004 and that one “coworker” had been fired by Universal in 2002. The other “coworker” didn’t exist. What was extraordinary about Anthony’s tale is that when the investigators confronted Anthony with the information that she hadn’t worked for Universal for years, Anthony argued that she was an employee. She even agreed to ride with investigators out to Universal. When they arrived, Anthony purportedly walked up to the employee entrance and then insisted to a security guard that she was a current employee who had misplaced her I.D.. When asked who her supervisor was, she gave them the same name she had previously given to the investigators: Tom Manley. When the security guard couldn’t locate a Tom Manley in the Universal employee databank, Anthony continued to claim she was a current employee. Universal allowed Anthony and the investigators to enter the building where Anthony claimed she had an office. According to the investigators, Anthony strolled half way down a hallway until she stopped, turned around, and then admitted the Universal story was lie.

Anthony then met with the investigators where she also admitted that the apartment she claimed Zenaida the nanny lived was also a lie but, and this is a pretty big but, Anthony still insisted that her daughter Caylee had been taken by the nanny.

Casey Anthony, who sits in a Florida jail cell charged with the First Degree murder of Caylee, continues to insist Caylee was taken by the nanny even after Caylee’s remains were discovered December 11 less than a 1/4 of a mile from where Casey and Caylee lived with Casey’s parents, Cindy and George Anthony.

Now there’s a new missing child whose parents are telling a similar tale: their baby boy was absconded by a mysterious nanny.

This time, the police were contacted purportedly the same day the nanny failed to return the child, versus the 31 days Casey Anthony waited to report her daughter was missing. Chances are the parents of Riley are telling the truth, but you can bet the police, after dealing with Casey Anthony for the past five plus months, are viewing the newest nanny story with a jaundiced eye. Even so, the authorities have issued an Amber Alert for Riley.

According to FOX News, Anthony is now claiming that the last time Anthony saw Caylee, nanny Zenaida and another woman “drove away” with Caylee at an apartment complex. The same apartment complex Anthony originally claimed in her police statement that she had “dropped Caylee off”:

On Monday, June 9, 2008, between 9am and 1pm, I took Caylee to the Sawgrass apartments, located on Conway Rd. Caylee’s nanny, Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, has watched her for the past year and a half, to two years. Zenaida is twenty-five years old, and is from New York. She is roughly 5foot 7 inches tall, 140 pounds. She has dark brown, curly hair, and brown eyes. Zenaida’s birthday is in September. I met Zenaida, through a mutual friend, Jeffery Michael Hopkins. She had watched his son, Zachary Hopkins, for about 6 months, to a year. I met Zenaida in 2004, around Christmas. On the date listed above, June 9, 2008, after dropping Caylee off at Zenaida’s apartment, I proceeded to head to my place of employment, Universal Studios Orlando. I have workd at Universal for over 4 years, since June of 2004. I left work around 5pm, and went back to the apartment to pick-up my daughter. However, after reaching the apartment I realized that neither Zenaida, Caylee, or either of her two roommates were home. I have briefly met Raquel Farrell, and Jennifer Rosa, on various occasions. After calling Zenaida to see where she and Caylee were, and when they were coming home I waited outside of the apartment. I had called her that afternoon, her phone was no longer in service. Two hours passed, and around 7pm, I left the apartment, and headed to familiar places that Zenaida would go with Caylee. One of Caylee’s favorite places is Jay Blanchard Park. I spent the rest of that evening, pacing and worrying at one of the few places I felt “at home” my boyfriend Anthony Lazzaro’s apartment.

Investigators found that the apartment Anthony originally claimed she had “dropped” Caylee off had been vacant for several months. A woman named Zenaida Gonzales stated that she had never met Casey Anthony nor Caylee. Investigators found where Gonzales had filled out a guest card at the apartment complex.

None of Anthony’s friends had met the nanny Zenaida, nor had Anthony’s family. When friends and family learned that Caylee had been missing for 31 days, they were shocked. From June 9 onward, Anthony told friends that Caylee was with her nanny at Sea World, Disneyland, and Busch Gardens. The last time Anthony’s parents saw Caylee was in mid-June. They too were told by Anthony that Caylee was with her nanny while Anthony continued to claim she was employed at Universal Studios. It wasn’t until July 15, when her parents recovered the car Anthony drove from an impound lot where it had sat since the end of June and the car smelled like “death”, that the story of Caylee missing emerged. After Anthony’s mother called 911, Anthony told her brother and mother that Caylee had been missing for 31 days and that the nanny had “kidnapped her”.

I want to know how Casay’s car became impounded in the first place. That evil woman has lied about everything. I think she killed her daughter and put her in her trunk until she started to stink and then she drove Caylee down to the place where her remains were found and dumper the body. Then she left the car in the place from where it was impounded and went home. Her parents probably didn’t have any involvement in the killing but they need to shut the hell up now and stop helping Casie lie. They are helping her make up stories that could not possibly be true and they should be prosicuted for it. They know way more than they are telling. I know it is hard to watch your only daughter go down but they need to honor the life of little Caylee by doing whatever they can to help bring her killer to justice, no matter who it is.

Being a father of three, I can never understand how someone can harm their own child, let alone any child. You truly have to be insane or pure evil to do something like this.

that story didnt sound right the minute i read she waited 31days to call. if anyone of my kids are missing for 30mins without me knowing where they are i freak out lol. im a mother of 4 and my kids and my life and i would never let anyone harm them. why any mother would ever kill their child is beyond me & even if she didnt do it the little girl was only 2, she still had soooo much to live for. if casey didnt wanna be a mother she couldve gave the rights to her parents or kept her legs close in the first place and then her daughter wouldnt have been wrongfully murdered and she would be headed towards life in prison.

as for the 6mnth old, i feel like that story could be true but then again you never know
