“Racist” children celebrate Thanksgiving by “dehumanizing” American Indians
In yet another case of political correctness run amok, a forty year history of kindergarteners dressed as pilgrims and native Americans celebrating Thanksgiving at school has been quashed in Claremont, California, due to four people who complained the celebration used “racist stereotypes” which were “dehumanizing”.
According to the Los Angeles Times, parents of kindergarteners are “furious” over the Claremont School Board’s decision to ban the kiddies wearing costumes after one mom, Michelle Raheja, an English professor at UC Riverside who specializes in Native American literature, and a member of the Seneca tribe, complained, along with three other professors and former instructors from Pitzer College, the University of the Redlands, and Riverside Community College.
“It’s demeaning,” Michelle Raheja, the mother of a kindergartner at Condit Elementary School, wrote to her daughter’s teacher. “I’m sure you can appreciate the inappropriateness of asking children to dress up like slaves (and kind slave masters), or Jews (and friendly Nazis), or members of any other racial minority group who has struggled in our nation’s history.”
The school had held the Thanksgiving celebration for four decades until Raheja complained. Another mother, whose son attends the kindergarten, who is of Choctaw heritage had a different view:
“Kathleen Lucas, a Condit parent who is of Choctaw heritage, said her son — now a first-grader — still wears the vest and feathered headband he made last year to celebrate the holiday.
“My son was so proud,” she said. “In his eyes, he thinks that’s what it looks like to be Indian.”
Parents have been given to the weekend to “cool down” where they’ll meet again and be lectured on the “true” meaning of “thankfulness”, courtesy of Ms. Raheja and her three “academian” wise men.

I don’t understand. The point of Thanksgiving was the reapproachment between the settlers and the Indians.

Some people will not be happy until America is brought to her knees.

It’s a very sad day for America. With PC woman like this one, anything is possible.
Perhaps we can use PC against her.
And it’s true…some idiots won’t be happy until US History is PC re-written.
It’s no wonder as to why the Russians are predicting the downfall of America. They are predicting that the US will divide into
6 parts or separate countries and they even threaten of taking back Alaska.
And why not…I’m sure that this bafoon PC mother who complained about thanksgiving play will find some PC reason to
give Alaska back to Russia.

If being PC continues to be a guard against historical inaccuracies and the objectification of a group of people, I am all for it. I’d hate to think what would happen if folks didn’t follow along some lines of political correctedness; people then might only be satisfied if Jesus is regarded as a racist, woman-hater and all Christians as sex-crazed pedophiles.

While I don’t agree with this (no kindergarten Thanksgiving), I no longer celebrate Columbus Day. We’ve been teaching faulty history for ages. Columbus didn’t discover America, he rediscovered it after the Church kept insisting the world was flat. According to archeological finds, many different cultures, from the Phoenicians to the Japanese, came to America long before Columbus. However, it was Columbus who opened the way for the genocide against Native Americans. Try seeing history from the other side for a change.

Ugh! Me wonders: How many affirmitive action programs “Professor” Raheja took of as “racial minority group who has struggled in our nation’s history” to attain her PhD and employment so she could become my conscience?

Why can’t people leave children alone? Why can’t little kids have a nice day and consider what that first Thanksgiving meant to the people, Puritans and Native Americans alike, who got together to share their similarities as human beings?
Can’t anything be joyful, and fun without some ogre spoiling it all? If a few leftist crazies want to teach children hate, racism, sexism, xenophobia & fear why can’t they teach that to their own children in their own homes and leave the rest of us alone?
