Obama, Bill Ayers: CNN Reports Obama-Ayers Connection Went Deeper
“But the relationship between Obama and Ayers went much deeper, ran much longer, and was much more political than Obama said.â€
–CNN Special Investigative Unit Report, October 6 2008
“For Obama, the chairmanship of the $100 million Annenberg board helped vault him from Southside Chicago lawyer to political player–and that too, has another connection to Bill Ayers.”
—-CNN Special Investigative Unit Report, October 6 2008
A CNN Special Investigative Unit aired a report on Barack Obama and Bill Ayers last week and it’s conclusion?
Barack Obama was not telling the truth when he said that Ayers was “just some guy in the neighborhood”.
Or, as he told Bill O’Reilly, “One of the thousands of people I know.”
Even as the New York Times covered up the Ayers connection for Barack Obama, CNN reported that that was not the case.

When it’s too big for even CNN to gloss over, there may be a chance of the average Joe finding out a few facts of the matter.
What is the truth about Barack Obama and Bill Ayers?
Clearly, it is not what the Obama campaign has said, even though their story line is an ever-changing one: as more facts about the Obama-Ayers relationship surface.
Ayers said “I want to puke” every time he thinks about the United States of America.
Jeremiah Wright said, “God Damn America”–and Barack Obama sat in Wright’s church for twenty years listening to his “Hate America” sermons.
Obama didn’t bomb the Pentagon.
Obama didn’t say “God Damn America”.
Obama didn’t say that he “was proud of the USA” for the first time this past year–that was his wife, Michelle Obama.
Obama did say that “Fundamental change is coming to this country.”
A look at the people Barack Obama chose to surround himself with might shed some light on what type of “fundamental changes” he’s talking about.
Obama calls any reference to Bill Ayers a “distraction from the issues”.
As Obama has no legislative record–beyond ceremonial and party-line Senate votes–and has made his medical, birth, college, and university records impossible to access, we think his associates and their views are an issue.
There is not much left to shed light on who Barack Obama is and what he thinks–except his answers concerning his many questionable connections.
And CNN has reported that, at least on the Bill Ayers issue: Obama has not been telling the truth.
And that’s another issue in itself.

can somebody please explain to me why this really matters if the work that Obama and Ayers did together was good positive work that was funded by a supporter of McCain? there was no hate or anti America angle to it. I struggle to understand the logic. All of the people in this race are politicians. How can McCain supporters believe this is relevant and that Palins husband being a member of a session movement or her obvious abuse of power, and her allowing her husband do do her dirty work or McCain’s relationship with Charles Keating which was much deeper and more personal then the Ayers connection. I really want to understand why McCain supporters see this as such a big deal.

kissmyphanie,
Any of the works of Stephen Diamond at Global Labor will answer your questions as to the type of work Obama and Ayers did together. Also, to why Obama might not want to particularly talk about that work in detail.

Diamond is not a conservative, not a Republican. But, unlike the Mainstream Media and most Obama supporters, he is curious and does have a zeal to find out the truth when people start trying to hide things.
If you’re truly interested in the subject, his posts would be an excellent way to educate yourself. As far as comparing it with the AIP (Alaskan Independence Party), I suggest you visit their website and read their platform. Then you will realize how disingenuous people who bring this up are being.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by, read and comment.

thank you for taking the time to actually provide real information. There is a lot in the article and I’m still not sure why Obama is seen as so dangerous or scary, admittedly there is far more of a relationship then he’d like to acknowledge. …..but I think it’s important to understand why the left leans left and the right goes right….

kissmyphannie,
You’re welcome! I was reading some more of Mr. Diamond this evening: he is totally against the War and he and I totally disagree over probably 90% of all issues.
But he is very interested in the truth and how it affects the Labor movement, both in the US and all over the world. I respect people for that–even if they disagree with me on other things.
I disagree with one commenter here (PJ) most of the time. But PJ was right on top of the John Edwards scandal and she didn’t care that all her buddies thought she was crazy…Right was right and wrong was wrong.
She has her reasons for believing the way she does and while we don’t often agree, she’s very entertaining and she provides facts to back her arguments up and that contributes to the discussion.
You gotta love that.
I usually write about what I’m interested in and this interests me right now….no one thinks that Ayers and Obama blew up buildings. But Ayers has a particular mindset: he wants to change things, regardless of whether the rest of the people want them changed or not…(that was one reason for the bombs).
The reason the left is left and the right is right (I think) is the type of experiences you grow up with. Even though I grew up in a rural area, and didn’t study much, I did OK and got ahead by working hard. So, I’m a firm believer in the American Dream (even though I’ve not had much money most of my life, I never felt like it was because anyone was out to get me or hold me back–I am perfectly capable of holding myself back).
Generally speaking, a lot of the Left comes from urban areas, where different experiences prevail. The Left believes that Government is a piece of pie in the sky; I believe Government is a piece of s**t.
In the Roman Republic: as long as rural ideas held sway, Rome was strong…when the Republic became more urbanized and richer, another set of things became more important to people.
While this was really fun for awhile, it contributed to the eventual downfall of the one-time most powerful country in the world at that time.
I’m no fan of John McCain, but I don’t vote on popularity. Regardless of what else people think important, one fact is constant: if you can’t defend your country and your country’s interests, you will soon fall by the wayside of history.
I want to know now, not only why Obama and Ayers had their longstanding relationship, but also: if it was okay and innocent, why has Obama chosen to hide and mis-characterize it?
Once again, thanks for taking the time to stop by, read and comment.

I guess I was raised left even though I was born in a small town in Arkansas. Most importantly I was raised to question authority, question what just didn’t seem true. It was my right as an American. I was a development of the late 60′s and I grew up with nothing but change in front of me. I watched my parents, one of which was Australian and couldn’t even vote campaign for Tom Hayden and Jimmy Carter and go on to later talk about republicans having good solutions too.
I too hold firm to the American Dream despite it’s allusive behavior, I think it’s most important to base beliefs on truths, which is incredibly challenging in Politics. So, despite my left leaning habits I regularly check your site and refer others your way. It’s good for us to question and hear what right wingers have to say…. there is good valid conversation there…and someplace in the middle is an America for us all. Keep up the good work all it takes is one rational republican to start the wave…..:)

kmp,
What a good discussion!
I agree with 99% of your letter. I am not a Republican, nor have I ever been, but that’s OK: you have no way of knowing that!
Hope you’ll check back often. It’s always nice to read thoughtful replies, whether it from the Left or Right. I’m grateful that the Internet has given a voice to millions–who otherwise had to read what others decided was good for them to read–and are now able to respond.
Of course, you have to wade through the nonsense, but that seems to me a small price to pay for being heard.
As my wrestling coach used to say, “The cream always rises to the top.”.
