Obama, Bill Ayers, and FactCheck.Org: All Have Ties To Annenberg Foundation
How many people are aware that Senator Obama has ties to Factcheck.org, the “non-partisan” political “fact checking” site, vis-a-vis the Annenberg Foundation? Or that the controversies surrounding Obama, such as his ties to Bill Ayers, a former member of the violent Vietnam War era Weather Underground terrorist group, and the veracity of Obama’s “birth certificate” are both linked to Factcheck and Annenberg. There’s also news about the ongoing federal lawsuit involving Obama’s birth certificate: how a U.S District Judge has thrown out Obama’s attorney’s Motion to Dismiss and ordered them to “pony up” the certificate “post haste”.
From Google Search:
FactCheck.org – Annenberg Political Fact CheckMonitors the factual accuracy of what is said by major US political players in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews, and news releases.
The Annenberg Foundation is at the center of the ongoing Obama-Bill Ayers controversy. Ayers was a former member of the homegrown terrorist group, the Weather Underground, which took credit for bombing the Pentagon, the Capital Building, and the New York City Metro Police Department plus 30+ other bombings during the Vietman War era.
The Weathermen, a small band of extreme leftists who got their name from lines in a Bob Dylan song – “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows” – conducted a bombing campaign against targets such as police headquarters, prisons and courthouses for three years to “bring the [Viet-nam] war home”.
Two police officers were killed in 1981, when members of the Weathermen and Black Liberation Army stole $1m from an armoured car. It was their last action.
–Times Online
Charges against Ayers were dropped after the FBI was accused of using illegal wiretaps. Ayers wrote in his 2001 “memoir”, Fugitive Days, that he regretted that his group “didn’t do enough” back then in regards to the almost 30 plus bombings his group took credit for. Ayers later became a professor in Chicago and the founder of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, an offshoot of the Annenberg Foundation.
Here’s one “literary” review of Ayer’s “memoir” Fugitive Days:
From Library Journal
“Memory is a motherfucker,” writes Ayers (A Kind and Just Parent). In the 1970s, he was a head of the radical Weathermen and one of America’s Ten Most Wanted, along with his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, but he is now a distinguished professor of education at the University of Illinois in Chicago. His memoir is a breath of fresh air in this self-absorbed age. Ayers discusses his reservations about the use of violence to achieve an end to violence (reservations he held then as well), but he is unrepentant in believing that America was the aggressor against North Vietnam and that right-minded people have an obligation to resist unjust wars. The book is uneven in tone, alternating fluffy passages about the passage of time with straightforward narration of Ayers’s more than ten years on the lam. The sentiments expressed in the book still seem noble, however, regardless of one’s opinions of the means used by Ayers’s comrades. There are many lessons still to be learned from such narratives. Recommended. David Keymer, California State Univ., Stanislaus
Stanley Kurtz of the National Review has been closely following Obama’s ties to Ayers as well as his association to ACORN .
While both the AP and the New York Times are reporting that there is no “truth” to the claims that Obama had “ties” to Ayers, Kurtz has uncovered a long standing association between the two men, one that leads straight to the Annenberg Foundation:
Ayers was a “key founder” of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge.
In 1995 Obama was appointed Board Chairman and President of the Annenberg Chicago Challenge, a “branch of the Annenberg Foundation”.
Ayers co-chaired the Chicago Annenberg “Collaborative”, which set education policy for the “Challenge”.
Obama was “authorized to delegate to the Collaborative the development of collaborative projects and programs”.
Obama had to “obtain assistance of the Collaborative in the development of requests for proposals.”
Obama had to “seek advice from the Collaborative regarding the programmatic aspects of grant proposals.”
Ayers sat on the same board as Obama as an “ex officio member”.
Obama and Ayers sat together on the board’s Governance Committee.
Ayers and Obama were “part of a group of four instructed to draft the bylaws that would govern CAC”.
As Board Chair, Obama authorized the funding for Ayers educational projects, as well as projects of Ayers’ “radical” friends.
Obama and Ayers “guided” monies to ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now).
Kurtz also points out Obama’s tenure as Board Chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge in regards to the one and only “executive experience” of Obama which was rated as a bust:
“The Chicago Annenberg Challenge stands as Barack Obama’s most important executive experience to date. By its own account, CAC was a largely a failure. And a series of critical evaluations point to reasons for that failure, including a poor strategy, to which the foundation over-committed in 1995, and over-reliance on community organizers with insufficient education expertise. The failure of CAC thus raises entirely legitimate questions, both about Obama’s competence, his alliances with radical community organizers, and about Ayers’s continuing influence over CAC and its board, headed by Obama. Above all, by continuing to fund Ayers’s personal projects, and those of his political-educational allies, Obama was lending moral and material support to Ayers’s profoundly radical efforts. Ayers’s terrorist history aside, that makes the Ayers-Obama relationship a perfectly legitimate issue in this campaign.”
Factcheck.org is part and parcel of the Annenberg Foundation. Factcheck was also chosen by the Obama campaign as the arbitrar of whether Obama’s birth certificate, which purportedly proves he’s a citizen of the United States, is authentic.
We were mostly uninterested in the birth certificate controversy until a recent court case in Philadelphia caught our attention.
On August 24, a prominent Democrat and attorney in Pennslyvania, Philip J. Berg, filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court against Obama and the DNC. Berg’s suit claimed that Obama is not a natural born citizen of the United States is therefore uneligible to run for President. On September 24, rather than show up with a copy of Obama’s birth certificate, attorneys for Obama and the DNC filed a motion to dismiss.
On September 29, Judge Barclay Surrick denied the motion to dismiss and ordered three separate items to be delivered to the judge in three days:
* A certified copy of Obama’s birth certificate
* A certified copy of Obama’s Certification of Citizenship
* A certified copy of Obama’s Oath of Allegiance
Clarification – It was inaccurate to say the judge has demanded the documents: the judge in Berg v Obama has not ruled on various motions yet. It is more accurate to say that Phillip Berg, in his court filing asked for the three documents in question.
60. Plaintiff has asked for a simple resolution. Plaintiff has asked that Obama supply a genuine certified copy of his original long version “vault” Birth Certificate, A Certification of Citizenship and a certified copy of his Oath of Allegiance. If in fact Obama can prove his “natural born” citizenship status, which he cannot, then he has not been prejudiced in anyway, but instead Plaintiff has been protected and his civil rights secured. However, if Obama is unable to supply said documentation, then he needs to withdraw his candidacy, again which will eliminate Plaintiff’s deprivations and instill Plaintiff’s constitutionally protected safeguards and rights.
We found it interesting that the Obama campaign saw fit to “release” Obama’s birth certificate to FactCheck.org but not to the U.S. District Judge supervising the Berg lawsuit against Obama.
Factcheck.org “verified” the Obama birth certificate yet intrepid bloggers Atlas Shrugs as well as Yid With A Lid have found several inconsistencies which call into question whether the certificate is “authentic”.
Again, regardless of whether the certificate is authentic or not, DBKP finds the fact that Obama’s attorney chose to file a motion to dismiss rather than just handing over a certified copy of the birth certificate to the judge puzzling. Everyday ordinary citizens have to prove citizenship by providing a certified copy of their birth certificate in order to obtain a driver’s license or an ID card. We cannot fathom why the Obama camp chose the motion to dismiss instead of complying with a Federal judge’s order to provide a certified copy of Obama’s birth certificate. The Obama campaign handed over a copy to Factcheck.org, why the “stall” with handing a copy over to the Federal Judge handling the Berg lawsuit?
If the Obama birth certificate is on the “up and up” then releasing it to a Federal Judge should be a “priority” of the Obama campaign instead of filing “motions to dismiss”. After all, the rest of us ordinary Average Joe’s have to fork over a copy of our birth certificates every now and then to prove we’re citizens in order to get a something as mundane as a driver’s license. We imagine most citizens would comply with a judge’s order to supply a copy of our birth certificate without too much fuss. Obama, an attorney himself, must surely realize the consequences of disobeying a judge’s order.
DBKP is keeping a close eye on the Berg case in Philadelphia. The judge ordered on September 29 for the three documents to be presented by Obama within 3 days. Rumors have circulated across the web that the judge “dismissed” the case. Those rumors are untrue. The Obama camp has yet to supply the documents to the judge.
Blogger Steve Diamond of the blog, Global Labor, has more info on the connections between Obama and Ayers:
*The Woods Fund
* The connection between Obama and Ayers’ wife, Bernadette Dohrn, another ex-Weather Underground grad.
* Obama’s first fundraiser for Illinois Senate hosted by Ayers and Dohrn
* The link between Michelle Obama and Ayers visa-a-vis a panel to discuss a book written by Ayers
* A longtime radical friend of Ayers who blogs for Obama
As far as Obama’s past association with Ayers, Obama claims that Ayers was “one of thousands” of people he knew. We’re not sure how many boards Obama has sat on as Chairman and President but one would think he’d remember the “founder” who was once a famous member of a notorious far left terrorist group that bombed the Pentagon and the Capital Building. In fact, in 2001, Bill Ayers was written about in the New York Times, when Obama was still Chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. The article in the Times was published the same day that hijackers boarded four planes and ended up murdering over 3,000 innocent citizens. Bill Ayers was pictured standing on the American flag. The timing was a coincidence, the subject, Ayers’ memoir, Fugitive Days:
”I don’t regret setting bombs,” Bill Ayers said. ”I feel we didn’t do enough.” Mr. Ayers, who spent the 1970’s as a fugitive in the Weather Underground, was sitting in the kitchen of his big turn-of-the-19th-century stone house in the Hyde Park district of Chicago. The long curly locks in his Wanted poster are shorn, though he wears earrings. He still has tattooed on his neck the rainbow-and-lightning Weathermen logo that appeared on letters taking responsibility for bombings. And he still has the ebullient, ingratiating manner, the apparently intense interest in other people, that made him a charismatic figure in the radical student movement.
According to the Obama campaign, he and Ayers had a “tangential” relationship which seems to revolve around the Annenberg Foundation. In 2001, Obama and Ayers were still members of the Chicago Annenberg Foundation, Obama was Chairman while Ayers was touting his memoir, Fugitive Days, about his days spent “bombing” in the name of “change”.

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!! Forward all this to the news organizations – I’ve already been on the Annenburg connection and here’s my info on factcheck.org
Don’t forget that factcheck.org is part of the Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania
and is funded by the Annenberg Foundation that employed Obama in Chicago.
Be mindful when using factcheck.org.

Hello, have been watching this case for a while now. You stated:
“On September 29, Judge Barclay Surrick denied the motion to dismiss and ordered three separate items to be delivered to the judge in three days:
*A certified copy of Obama’s birth certificate
* A certified copy of Obama’s Certification of Citizenship
* A certified copy of Obama’s Oath of Allegiance”
However, when I search the website of the The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for Surrick’s opinions at:
http://www.paed.uscourts.gov
I find no opinion by him issued on Sept 29 denying the Dem motion to dismiss. I find only the Berg document (pdf) that requests a denial of the motion to dismiss. This doc includes a typical ‘response’ the judge can use if and when he does dismiss the motion.
If you have sources showing that Surrick HAS actually denied the motion to dismiss, please enlighten all of us. Thank you!

If you go to the obamacrimes.com website, you can get official updates about the case. Apparently several media sources and blogs incorrectly stated that the judge had already ruled last week, while in actuality his decision is still pending.
Meanwhile, here’s news about yet another Obama crony crawling out from under a rock that O probably doesn’t want us to count among his associates: http://cdobs.com/archive/our-columns/the-cat-in-the-hat-is-back-in-the-news%2C1811/

Oh, then let’s talk about McCain’s “friendship:” with G. Gordon Liddy. And how McCain sat on th board of an ultra right wing board. And Palin’s witchdoctor in Wasilla.
When your campaign is in tatters, the polls show Obama surging, why not bring up old, discredited stories in a Hail Mary smear campaign. Avoid talking about the issues. Destroy and distract.
We’ve had the Palin pass that busted, the bailout “suspension” that drew craps, and now this.
What next? I guess losing with honor hasn’t doesn’t have the same wring as winning with honor.
We get it that McCain is desperate. This is his last chance at the brass ring. I would feel sorry for the guy if he weren’t so pathetic.
Attack Obama on the issues and his platform. Enough with the politics of mass destruction.

PJ, I don’t get you. You complain about attacks about Obama by attacking McCain. But you say youwant to discuss issues or platforms. But you never do.

McCain was cleared of the Keeting 5. Not only that, he appologized ‘by proxy’ to the people it effected (Obama never appologized for the racism his pastor spews OR his own comments about “typical white people”. Not only that, the lead prosecutor on the case said McCain’s name should have never been brought into the Keeting fiasco.

Is Obama a citizen. Wouldn’t he have to provide a valid COLB when he filed papers to run for president? This whole thing is odd. But then again, all he would have to do is provide a copy. Very strange.

eeerrr…I’ve been researching it, giving it the benefit of the doubt, but at a certain point have to back off with the vehement arguing and be objective. A lot of this is feeling like a real stretch to me. I know, I know: politics is a mess of lies and you’ve got dig deep to find the truth. But this kind of partisan blogging makes dirty, lying little politicians out of us all. If I only dig in one direction to make one argument, in this case namely that Obama is not fit to be president…well that’s what I call spin, smearing, etc., not truth seeking.

Which part was a lie, David?
Instead of making a blanket statement about “digging deeper to find the truth” you call this “partisan blogging” and “dirty, lying little politicians” out of us all”.
So again, which part is a lie?
The ties to Annenberg between Obama and Ayers?
The fact that the Annenberg Foundation is also Factcheck.org?
The court case where Obama’s lawyers haven’t released his birth certificate?
Tell us what are lies rather than calling us names.

The problem isn’t the Annenberg Foundation, the problem is Bill Ayers and the Chicago Annenberg Challenge which was Ayer’s baby and Obama served as President and Chairman of a $multi-million dollar budget.
Bill Ayers is an unrepentant bomber of the Weather Underground. Voters need this information.

My name is Heather & I am 34 years old.
I have three children, a husband, a mortgage and a bankruptcy.
I struggle weekly to pay necessities and do not have health coverage at this time.
Last year we earned over $75,000. This year we will earn less than $40,000.
My mortgage is considered one of the “bad” ones. It fluctuates. It has gone from $650 a month to over $850 a month.
I don’t have credit cards. I will soon be learning how to plant and tend a garden, as well as can & freeze vegetables to feed my family.
Sometimes I have to write checks for prescriptions for my children, that I know will not clear my bank, in hope, the bank will pay it until I get the money to cover it.
I am not a racist. All Civil rights are important to me. Hate crimes of any type are unacceptable.
The Weathermen Underground performed hate crimes touted as civil unrest and discontentment.
Rev. Wright performs hate crimes against his own congregation by preaching hate and intollerance from the pulpit.
I am not voting for John McCain.
I am voting against Barack Obama because his history is showing a clear tollerance for communism and socialism as well as division between race and class.
Obama, McCain & Biden were wrong on the bailout.
I speak for thousands when I say, enough is enough.
Neither candidate has proven they have a grasp on my life. I do not trust the world Obama would leave for my children.
One of my favorite quotes is “One day, my four little children will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
I ask you today, to judge Senator Barack Obama by the content of his character and do not subscribe to the seperatist views he has claimed in his book “Dreams of my Father.”
I ask you today to consider the world where the United States ideals are transformed into a socilistic and radical extremist society.
The United States we hold dear is on the verge of becoming unrecognizable.
I ask you to vote Against Barack Obama and carry our voice to Washington.
We love our country, we will defend this country from all forms of tyrany, both from abroad and those who choose to bury us from within.

Seems strange that you believe that everything they fund is “suspect” and “radical.”
By the way, many more institutions besides Factcheck.org have confirmed Obama’s birth certificate is genuine. This is a bogus issue.

I find it hilarious… You people nitpick over NON-FACTS, NON-ISSUES and not the REAL issues… Because, it’s all you have. Because you know McCain is a major failure when it comes to real issues. Or is it you don’t want to talk about your Messiah #2 Palin doing (and being charged by a bi-partisan review) in exactly what she is campaigning against? Some change there.. haha.

I’d love to hear back from you after you get that shiny new job, affordable health care, and benefits. Of course, Ayers means nothing to you. Associating with people who blew up buildings in the name of “protest”. That’s peachy behavior. Calling attention to it, that’s called “hatred”.
And yes, we do know who ACORN is. There’s an ongoing investigation in Cleveland as I write this post. Employees of ACORN were given “meager wages” with quotas to fill. Now that’s a good thing.
Right?

LBG, give it up on Ayers. For once the smear tactics are not working. Even McCain was forced to pull back on Friday after getting an earful from RNC moderates. He’s sinking like a stone in the polls.
As for ACORN, I deplore voter fraud on both sides. But let’s get real here. Can you name ONE case of vote fraud from 2004 that was brought to trial and actually convicted? Maybe you’re a better Googler than me, but I couldn’t find any. But I found lots of accusations of voter supression.
The ACORN canard has been played for years, but you fail to note one important fact: while there may very well be cases where ACORN workers made up bogus names on these registrations (to make money) no one actually VOTED. And on top of that, if you had bothered to research the matter, you would find that ACORN is required by law to turn in all these forms, even when they know they are bogus.
Enough with the attack dog politics.

There will be convictions in Ohio very soon on the ACORN fraud. Some people will go to jail.

It’s doubtful you have any of the answers.
Obama has chosen to keep the answers to himself.
That you would post a comment on this blog and label us “trolls” is the type of illogical thinking that marks some of Team Obama.
But it’s good that you put it out there for all to see. By all means, keep posting comments like this; it’ll keep you out of trouble.
Try and stay out from under any bridges.

I hate to say it, but the stupidness and futility of this argument is just one of the many sad legacies of Bush and those who voted for him. If Obama is elected, Republicans will have no one to thank but themselves.
I remember a time when I would at least hear Republican friends out, maybe I wouldn’t agree with them always, but I would at least give their opinions some level of credibility. Now all I see is a group of quacking (soar loser) crazy morons who tried to convince me to elect Bush, not once, but twice. A person who clearly wasn’t qualified OR intelligent, yet (for whatever reason *ahem gays*) these people insisted on him being President of our country… some even (TO THIS DAY) insist he did a better job than whomever Democrats would have elected had they had the chance. This is true even after he foolishly (and I suspect greedily ) engaged us in an expensive unnecessary unending war we have yet to see the end of. These same people make the attempt to argue that McCain is better, yet fail to offer any convincing evidence as far as I’m concerned. Bill Ayers doesn’t convince me, and the twisting of Sarah Palin’s “Bridge to Nowhere” record DEFINITELY did not win any points.
The sad truth is that even if (and that is a big if!!) the pro-McCain/anti-Obama people had a point I probably wouldn’t hear them due to their obvious lack in judgment (due to the last person they enthusiastically supported) and slanted view of evidence during this election. It’s just sad, because I used to at least listen with an open mind. Bush and his judgment-impaired supporters killed that for me. Like I said, if Obama wins he will have no one to thank but the Bush supporters.

Shannon,
You’re not the only one who feels this way. We’re not here to tell anyone who to vote for. That’s your decision. We should have the right to inform voters about Obama’s past ties, contrary to some, these ties are important. If McCain had worked with a known domestic terrorist who had bombed abortion buildings (Ayers admitted bombing the Pentagon and the Capitol Building, as well as 30 other bombings), would you have the same reaction as the Obama-Ayers connection?
Just trying to put this into perspective even though you prefer to call us “quaking loons”.
Thanks for adding your comment.

Thanks for posting the Truth about the Obama/Ayers/FactCheck/Annenberg connection.
I’ve been posting it everywhere on the internet for the Obamaphiles to read, in hopes that it will open their eyes.
Obama met Bill Ayers in 1987.
Bill Ayers contacted Khalid Al-Mansour (radical lawyer/counsel to Saudi prince) to solicit him for funds to pay for Obama’s
Harvard Law School education.
Bill and Tom Ayers got Obama his first summer job with a law firm, and later his first job with a major law firm where Bill Ayer’s squeeze, Bernadette Dohrn/Weatherman radical worked.
Obama’s political career was launched at a gathering at Bill Ayer’s home.
Gotta love this blatant lie on Fight the Smears, sponsored and run by Obama’s campaign;
http://fightthesmears.com/articles/20/acornrumor
“Barack Obama Never Organized with ACORN
Discredited Republican voter-suppression guru Ken Blackwell is attacking Barack Obama with naked lies about his supposed connection to ACORN.
• Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.
• Fact: ACORN never hired Obama as a trainer, organizer, or any type of employee.
• Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992.
In his capacity as an attorney, Barack represented ACORN in a successful lawsuit alongside the U.S. Department of Justice against the state of Illinois to force state compliance with a federal voting access law. For his work helping enforce the law, called “Motor Voter,” Barack received the IVI-IPO Legal Eagle Award in 1995. (For more about Barack’s career, check out our Obama bio.){
Obama has already hinted that, if elected President, he will give a Presidential pardon to Osama Bin Laden
and any and all terrorists who attack the U.S. and U.S. interests (including our military) in foreign nations.

Almost forgot.
Obama has paid ACORN an additional $800,000 to get out the vote for Obama.
ACORN is a 501/non-taxpaying status NONPARTISAN organization, which means,,,,
they aren’t supposed to “get out the vote for any particular candidate”.

Tsk, tsk, you are forgettng McCain’s “old friend” G. Gordon Liddy. Look him up and see if he doesn’t fit the definition of “domestic terrotist”. Plus, there’s the abortion clinic shooter who this year ended up as a delegate for McCain at the convention…..

See, this is exactly what I was talking about. Where is your evidence?! Just for the heck of it I did an Internet search and came up with absolutely nothing. Obama, in fact, is the only one seriously talking about going after Bin Laden. McCain keeps defending his stance to stay out of the border region of Pakistan despite the fact that most believe that this is where he lives. He keeps saying “walk softly carry a big stick”… that thinking may have been relevant at one time, but not in this situation. Whatever happened to “We will not distinguish between terrorists and those that harbor them”. That was Bush’s line going into Afganistan, and is one of the only things I ever liked about him. But now that the sting of 9/11 has worn off, oh no, we’ve got to respect peoples’ boundaries… what? No we don’t! That was the whole point of Afganistan and the lesson of 9/11! I’d like to pull that stick out of McCain’s butt and beat him with it.
Regarding Ayers, I actually did spend some time thinking about it today, and honestly it’s hard to know what I would have done if I’d have been in Obama’s shoes. I know I would have spent some time gossiping behind his back, and definitely would have been a bit leery. That being said, over time you do start to take the lead from others in a group, and Ayers is definitely well established in that community. I also can’t blame Obama for being on the same charity board as Ayers – after all it was started by a rich Republican so that whole “it’s radical!” claim is nonsense – but I would say that allowing him to host a get-to-know you night showed that Obama is not one of those politicians who was overly concerned with his image. I say that because I went to school with people who had political aspirations, and many of them wouldn’t touch weed for fear it might come out at an inconvient time. Obama is apparently not one of those types, so in that regard you could say it shows poor judgment, but it’s not enough to tip the apple cart to McCain. McCain has shown poor judgement in more important ways – Pakistan and Sarah Palin to name just two – and actually is buddy-buddy with that Gordon Liddy (who in my mind is worse than Ayers).

Shannon,
You seem like a thoughtful girl.
Google “charitable foundations” and “taken over” or “Foundations of betrayal”.
Many foundations are set up by wealthy people who left their money for good causes. A lot of these foundations are “taken over” by people who are anti-capitalist or anti-free enterprise and who dole that money out to causes that are directly opposed to what the people who left the money believe in.
It’s sometimes happens to people’s charitable gifts before they die. The Chicago Annenberg Challenge was very radical.
Steve Diamond, who I do not agree on very many issues, has done a great job of investigating the Chicago Annenberg Challenge and what happened to the money. His site is http://www.globallabor.com.
He is liberal and anti-war, but he is also someone who is very truthful about what he finds. His pieces are long, but very informative. Steve Kurtz (google him) is another who finally got to look at the records after they were hidden away from public view.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by, read and comment.

This is quite amazing to me.
Shannon, I’d love for you to respond to my question:
Could you please take the time to tell me how you equate what G. Gordon Liddy did in the past as “worse” than what Ayers admits to during his tenure as a member of the Weather Underground?
Could you explain how 30+ bombings by Ayers and his group–Ayers escaped prison after his case was thrown out by a technicality–versus Liddy’s role and prison stint in Watergate?
I am extremely curious to learn your answer to my question.
As for the rumor that Obama will “pardon” Bin Laden… if you notice that little tidbit came in a comment, DBKP doesn’t believe this “rumor”.
Again, could you please explain how G. Gordon Liddy is “worse” than Bill Ayers.
Thanks,
LBG

Why is it ok for a Republican to have associations with criminals (Liddy and Keating to name the most well-know) but it a horrendous, almost criminal act, for a Democrat to have had, in some minute way, associations with other criminals?
WHY WHY WHY??
It’s always two-faced. “Democrats can do no good and Republicans (that includes my entire family BTW) can do no bad”
I’m one of the Democrats who left the country.. LOL
Actually, that’s a lie–I moved to Poland in 1997 to teach English during the Democratic time. My husband is from Switzerland, and the immigration laws in the US are SO strict that we’re not in the mood to jump through hoops to get back to the US. We’ve got great jobs and lives here, thank you very much.
Oh, you Republicans wouldn’t want him because he has an accent… Oh well! But, he is blond haired and blue eyed. Maybe that would be ok???
Oh, and one other thing. Last I heard, Hawaii is a US state. That’s where Obama was born. AND, McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone. Did you know that? But his parents were both US citizens. To be considered a “Natural Born Citizen”, only one parent needs to be an American citizen at the time of birth, regardless of where in the world they were born. So, are you disputing Obama’s mother’s US citizenship as well??? Hmmm Very interesting.
“The requirements for citizenship and the very definition thereof have changed since the Constitution was ratified in 1788. Congress first recognized the citizenship of children born to U.S. parents overseas on March 26, 1790, under the first naturalization law: “And the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond sea, or outside the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens.” (See ref. for the Act of 1795)”
So, are you now going to dispute the Constitution of the United States of American? Hmm.. Again, very interesting.
Have a great day trying to find proof that the Constitution is completely wrong as well..

Sarah, I beg to differ: Obama’s relationship with Ayers was not “minute” by any stretch of the imagination.
Normally I would take the time to write you a thoughtful answer but it seems that some who have decided to vote for Obama are not inclined to ferret out the true facts about the esteemed Senator, especially in regards to Ayers. In part, the fault lays at the feet of our own “esteemed” press, who have gone out their way to downplay, disregard, or put out false stories, in order to protect Obama.
I find it quite interesting that people seem to believe there is an equal comparison between what G. Gordon Liddy did versus Ayers, which was part of your “argument” in defending Obama.
Again, I won’t take the time to lecture you about the difference between a violent domestic terrorist organization that was responsible for over 30 plus bombings here in the U.S., which Ayers is still very proud of and has written that they “didn’t do enough” and G. Gordon Liddy’s participation in Watergate nor will I take the time to explain the long standing relationship between Obama and Ayers. I doubt you’d “believe” me, which is your perogative. I doubt you’d take the time to do even the simplest of research in regards to this relationship other than reading the papers which have a vested interest in electing Obama.
Anyone who believes that covering up a burglary is on par with bombings and anarchy doesn’t deserve my time.
Thanks for posting you comment.

After reading all the comments, researching the various issues, and reviewing the campaign headlines and debate videos, I’ve come to understand that while the individual attacks against each candidate differ, they represent general trends that actually UNITE the two candidates.
Both candidates’ citizenships have been questioned.
Both candidates have had political ties to people who represent the worst facets of human action.
Both candidates have flip-flopped on major issues.
Both candidates have made major campaign gaffes.
Both candidates have made statements that turned out to be barely true, untrue, and even flat-out lies.
Both candidates’ campaigns have taken part in the kind of political shenanigans that make us cringe.
Both candidates support economic proposals that would be financially detrimental to at least a significant portion of the populate (to be fair, no policy is good for everyone).
Both candidates have avoided practically every question presented to them during debates and elected to rephrase their tired talking points.
Both candidates, in essence, are singing the same old political refrain.
Whatever happens today, I don’t believe that honor will be restored to the White House. I don’t believe that America’s foreign policy will recover our lost allies. I don’t believe that our intelligence agencies will be directed to use their power to support peace, universal prosperity, and, most importantly, altruism. I don’t believe that corporate and “special” interests will cease to have a disproportionate level of influence in Washington. I don’t believe that either potential administration will tirelessly devote itself to the betterment of mankind. I don’t believe the military will be used to defend against evil, protect the endangered, or promote discipline, honor, and peace to the rest of the world. I don’t believe that we’ll have true transparency in government. I don’t believe that the White House will develop a true respect for the sovereignty of foreign nations. I don’t believe that the next President will abstain from cronyism and “quid pro quo” politics. I don’t believe that the next President will inspire Congress to become “benevolent and effective stewards of the Public Trust”.
In short, this election, touted as one of historic significance, will mean little to nothing over the course of history. America wants to police the world, but it won’t lead by example. It won’t hold itself to a higher standard, retake the moral high ground, or demonstrate the absolute necessity of integrity. If we really believe that we live in a democracy, then it stands to reason that, when we anthropomorphise the USA, what we’ll see is a reflection of US. I don’t know which is scarier: the thought that we’re OK with our government looking nothing like our own image, or the thought that our government IS a reflection of our own image. Do you believe in integrity, morality, excellence, courage, honor, and altruism? When will we demand that of those who “represent” us? When will demand that of ourselves?
