The Barack Obama campaign has attempted to cover up Obama’s socialist roots, but some stunning new documents uncovered in the Internet Archives (Wayback Machine) list “Barack Obama” as a member of the Socialist New Party.

The Archives also show that Obama attended a meeting of the Democratic Socialist Party of America as a “thank you” gesture after he won his seat in the Illinois Senate.

From Web Archives Confirm Barack Obama Was Member Of Socialist ‘New Party’ In 1996

In June sources released information that during his campaign for the State Senate in Illinois, Barack Obama was endorsed by an organization known as the Chicago “New Party”. The ‘New Party’ was a political party established by the Democratic Socialists of America (the DSA) to push forth the socialist principles of the DSA by focusing on winnable elections at a local level and spreading the Socialist movement upwards. The admittedly Socialist Organization experienced a moderate rise in numbers between 1995 and 1999. By 1999, however, the Socialist ‘New Party’ was essentially defunct after losing a supreme court challenge that ruled the organizations “fusion” reform platform as unconstitutional.

After allegations surfaced in early summer over the ‘New Party’s’ endorsement of Obama, the Obama campaign along with the remnants of the New Party and Democratic Socialists of America claimed that Obama was never a member of either organization. The DSA and ‘New Party’ then systematically attempted to cover up any ties between Obama and the Socialist Organizations. However, it now appears that Barack Obama was indeed a certified and acknowledged member of the DSA’s New Party.

On Tuesday, I discovered a web page that had been scrubbed from the New Party’s website. The web page which was published in October 1996, was an internet newsletter update on that years congressional races. Although the web page was deleted from the New Party’s website, the non-profit Internet Archive Organization had archived the page.

So that’s what he means by “Change”, huh?

Obama’s links to Communist and Socialist organizations have been covered up by the campaign and fellow travelers, but apparently every time one is erased, two more spring up.

From the October 1996 Update of the DSA ‘New Party’:
“New Party members are busy knocking on doors, hammering down lawn signs, and phoning voters to support NP candidates this fall. Here are some of our key races…

Illinois: Three NP-members won Democratic primaries last Spring and face off against Republican opponents on election day: Danny Davis (U.S. House), Barack Obama (State Senate) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary).”

Just three years after Obama was elected as a member of the Socialist New Party, the party was eclipsed when the Supreme Court ruled the fusion concept unconstitutional.

Might this not make a few wheels fly off the Obama bus? Will the Mainstream Media pick up on this?

Or will they be too busy talking about “angry” John McCain and Sarah Palin, ‘the racist’?

As fast as the Obama campaign denies their candidate’s past history, blocks access to records or scrubs the ‘Net, intrepid bloggers are uncovering new material.

Kudos to J. Brown, Politically Drunk, for digging into something Barack Obama obviously didn’t want known. One wonders what the Obama campaign will say now.

But even more, one wonders how the Mainstream Media will treat this new revelation. The New York Times whitewashed Obama’s connection with terrorist Bill Ayers. How will they treat this matter?

Will it be a total silence, ala John Edwards?

Or a whitewash, in the Bill Ayers mode?

Thomas Lifson at American Thinker puts the new information into a concise context. From Archives prove Obama was a New Party member:

Another piece in the puzzle of Barack Obama has been revealed, greatly strengthening the picture of a man groomed by an older generation of radical leftists for insertion into the American political process, trading on good looks, brains, educational pedigree, and the desire of the vast majority of the voting public to right the historical racial wrongs of the land.

The New Party was a radical left organization, established in 1992, to amalgamate far left groups and push the United States into socialism by forcing the Democratic Party to the left. It was an attempt to regroup the forces on the left in a new strategy to take power, burrowing from within. The party only lasted until 1998, when its strategy of “fusion” failed to withstand a Supreme Court ruling, but after, but the membership, including Barack Obama, continued to move the Democrats leftward with spectacular success.

Red State’s Erick Erickson, at Human Events (via AT) explains the fusion concept: Obama and the New Party

Fusion is a pretty simple concept. A candidate could run as both a Democrat and a New Party member to signal the candidate was, in fact, a left-leaning candidate, or at least not a center-left DLC type candidate. If the candidate — let’s call him Barack Obama — received only 500 votes in the Democratic Party against another candidate who received 1000 votes, Obama would clearly not be the nominee. But, if Obama also received 600 votes from the New Party, Obama’s New Party votes and Democratic votes would be fused. He would be the Democratic nominee with 1100 votes.

The fusion idea set off a number of third parties, but the New Party was probably the most successful. A March 22, 1998 In These Times article by John Nichols showed just how successful. “After six years, the party has built what is arguably the most sophisticated left-leaning political operation the country has seen since the decline of the Farmer-Labor, Progressive and Non-Partisan League groupings of the early part of the century …. In 1996, it helped Chicago’s Danny Davis, a New Party member, win a Democratic congressional primary, thereby assuring his election in the majority-black district …. The threat of losing New Party support, or of the New Party running its own candidates against conservative Democrats, would begin a process of forcing the political process to the left, [Joel] Rogers argued.”

Fusion, fortunately for the country, died in 1997. William Rehnquist, writing for a 6-3 Supreme Court, found the concept was not a protected constitutional right. It was two years too late to stop Obama.

Erickson wrote the above in June 2008.

Two weeks ago at RedState, we documented Obama’s 1996 endorsement by the New Party. A review of the New Party establishes that not only was the party an amalgamation of far left groups, but Barack Obama knew that when he sought the party’s endorsement.

In June, it was known that Obama was endorsed by the Socialist New Party, but not that he was a party member. Today’s Politically Drunk article–and links–filled in the blanks.

Wow! Some excellent web-hacking by J. Brown has turned up some info that shows Obama allied with the Communist (aka-Socialist) “New Party.”

When will they learn? You can attempt to scrub your website clean, but somewhere on the Web is an archive…

Just as attempts to scrub the web clean of Rielle Hunter references failed for the John Edwards campaign, attempts to scrub all references from the Internet of Barack Obama and his many ties to Socialists/Communists are also bound to fail.

How long will it be before the reliable Douglass K. Daniel of the AP and the New York Times appear to help put out the latest fire for the Obama campaign? Their efforts in whitewashing the Obama-Bill Ayers connection have been spectacular, but unsuccessful.

Mark Halperin, Time (?!?) cornered a senior Obama aide yesterday and made numerous attempts to get him on the record of just exactly when Obama knew of Ayers’ past as a terrorist. The latest spin from the Obama campaign is that Obama didn’t know Ayers had been a leader in the terrorist Weather Underground when he kicked off his political career at Ayers’ home.

Some evidence indicates that Obama was a member of the avowed socialist group known as The New Party.

This will not matter, of course, to either the dogmatic leftists who support Obama, nor to the ignorant Obamatons who haven’t a clue why they support the man.

I knew, and had previously reported that Obama had actively sought out, and received an endorsement for his 1996 state Senate candidacy, from this radical organization. Now, documentary evidence has surfaced that he was indeed, a member.

The Saloon’s Riley Jones notices, “Funny how MSNBC, NBC, etc, etc. missed the fact that Barack Hussein Obama is a Socialist.”

If this story was a swimming pool, I’m hesitant to dive in head first, but like I said, I’ll keep an eye on it. I need more proof that he was an actual member of the party, not just a lackey who got an endorsement.

It can be pointed out that if the Socialist New Party site refers to “Barack Obama”, then a largely-unknown, just-minted state senator as a member, it’s probably a “go”. Also, the fact that the info disappeared and had to be dragged back to the light of day, also gives some legs to the story.

Readers will remember that Rielle Hunter first attracted attention–months before she was named as the “other woman” by the National Enquirer in the John Edwards scandal–because, curiously, information about her and her videos began disappearing from the web.

NOTE TO FUTURE POLITICAL SCRUBBERS: You may be better off leaving the information in place. When the laundered info does come to light, it’s a strong indicator that there may be some guilty motives behind the scrubbing. It may be better to hide the info in plain sight.

6- Wait…for the MSM calvary to arrive, and label the bringer of bad news as a “racist”. This allows the Obama campaign to answer any questions by pointing to the AP, NY Times, or MSNBC as a means of disputing the information.

ACE: Big: Scrubbed Web Pages Resurface Naming Obama As Member of Expressly-Leftist “New Party”

Look, there has long been speculation that this asshole didn’t meet Ayers in Chicago, but rather at Columbia, where both were when Obama was there. The suspicion is that Ayers is hardly “just a guy from a neighborhood,” but rather a mentor who shaped his career — including getting him a job as a community activist.

Does this prove that? Not yet. We’ll see.

Dan Collins has the saga of the Obama campaign’s latest spin on Obama-Ayers. The campaign’s spin (lying) is a stretch even for Mr. Fantastic: Obama, The Ingenue

Turns out ABC’s Jake Tapper was also curious about when Obama learned about Ayers violent past and pressed Axelrod on the subject during a Tuesday interview.”Not that there’s been any clear explanation of this relationship forthcoming from the Obama campaign,” Tapper wrote on his ABC blog, Political Punch.“So, when did Obama find out that Ayers had been a member of an organization the FBI called a “domestic terrorist” group, and had been, for years, a fugitive from the law?”I don’t know,” Axelrod said and Tapper reported.

“I mean it was sometime after their first meetings. And you know, he became aware of it. I don’t know the exact moment.”

He wasn’t aware of who “Ayers” was?

“Yeah,” Axelrod said, “I mean, the fact is that like a lot of people who, you know, didn’t live through that era — particularly those who didn’t live though that era in Chicago — It just wasn’t. I mean, when he came to Chicago, Ayers was advising Mayor Daley on school reform issues, and that was his profile, was that he was an expert on education.”

Collin’s verdict?

“Hmmmm. Well, let’s just consider whether it’s likely that in 1995, when Dohrn and Ayers hosted Obama’s political coming-out party, he was unaware of their background, when he was, according to these records, a member of the socialist New Party. Seems unlikely.”

We heartily concur.

Brian McAffee, Possible October Surprise: Obama Was a Member of the Socialist New Party

There are now many web pages reporting that Obama was a member of the ultra-leftist, expressly socialist “New Party” in 1996. You might start by reading this site, who did much of the initial reporting. Ace of Spades also has a nice round up of the latest regarding the New Party and Obama’s membership.

McAffee notes that “The DSA attempted to scrub their web pages of all information regarding Obama’s membership, and denied that he was a member of their party.”

When a significant story breaks across the blogosphere’s right half, the thought is always comes to mind, “Will this get any mention in the Mainstream Media?”

The Leftie Blogosphere doesn’t have such concerns about their ideological blood brothers in the MSM.

Therefore, it’s always comforting when one of the heavyweights picks up a story: Michelle Malkin, NRO, Newsbusters, American Spectator, Wall Street Journal, Fox News.

NewsBusters is now on the story. NRO’s Stanley Kurtz is pursuing Obama’s ACORN connection–in spite of more disappearing “pulled links”.

First, PJ Gladnick–who led the NewsBusters’ charge early in the July reincarnation of the John Edwards story–wonders, “Will MSM Report on Obama Membership in Socialist New Party?“.

The mainstream media thought that the membership of Todd Palin, who is not a candidate for any office, in the Alaska Independence Party important enough to report in such outlets as the Los Angeles Times, MSNBC, and the New York Times, among others. So now that Barack Obama’s membership in the far left New Party has been unearthed, will they report his membership in that Socialist organization?

Good question.

However, as indicated in our last UPDATE, there’s enough souls in the MSM (Mark Halperin, Time, comes to mind) that are already asking persistent questions about Obama’s tale of Bill Ayers, there’s hope.

Stanley Kurtz, who’s one of the Godfathers of Bill Ayers’ coverage, checks in at National Review Online: Obama Acorn Cover-up?

Barack Obama is now apparently denying his ties with Acorn. Here’s what he’s posted on the subject at his “Fight the Smears” website. These claims are contradicted by several sources, a number of which I linked to in my piece, “Inside Obama’s Acorn.” In that piece, you’ll find a link to a Los Angeles Times piece in which Chicago Acorn leader Madeline Talbott is described as so impressed with Obama that “she invited him to help train her staff.” You’ll also see a link to a statement by Obama himself, made in pursuit of Acorn’s endorsement. Obama says: “I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.” In my piece, “No Liberation,” you’ll find a link to a 1995 profile of Obama which says: “Obama continues his organizing work largely through classes for future leaders identified by ACORN and the Centers for New Horizons on the south side.” My articles provide background, but the quotes and links I’ve presented here, and in the past, pretty conclusively contradict Obama’s current claims at “Fight the Smears.”

Obama’s website might think of a new name. How about “Fight the Diggers”?

It is curious that Obama’s past associations to radical Leftists, Communists and Socialists do not excite the curiosity of the MSM.

They are curious enough, however, for the Obama campaign to have them scrubbed from the Internet.

Did you know that Barack Obama was affiliated with a leading national socialist party? Barack Obama didn’t include in his 2008 resume that he entered politics in the mid-1990s endorsed by Chicago’s leading socialists. This just keeps getting better and better. Barack Obama was an active participant in the 1990s, and a direct political beneficiary, of the Chicago New Party and, importantly, the Chicago DSA, a group of socialists affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America.

1. Barack Obama attended and participated in meetings of the Chicago New Party and the Chicago DSA, the local affiliate of the Democratic Socialists of America.
2. Barack Obama sought the endorsement of the Chicago DSA which required rigorous scrutiny by the party’s Political Committee as well as Mr. Obama’s signature on a contract promising “a visible and active relationship with the NP.”
3. Barack Obama actively used the endorsement from the Chicago DSA.
4. Barack Obama won his DSA-endorsed and -backed campaign to secure his seat in the Illinois State Senate.
5. Barack Obama continued his involvement with the Chicago DSA — including directly asking the group to join “his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration” — and received their endorsements in subsequent campaigns.

Obama’s participation in and endorsement from the Chicago New Party and Chicago DSA, the local affiliate of the Democratic Socialists of America (which is the U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International) is quite clear:

The post goes on to document what the Obama campaign, aided and abetted by much of the MSM, was able to hide in the Democrat primary contest against Hillary Clinton: Obama’s murky past and the sheer number of associates that are not merely anti-American (Rev. Jeramiah Wright), but radically so (Bill Ayers, Bernadette Dorhn).

Clinton probably thought she had the goods on Obama any number of times, but especially when she introduced the specter of his relationship with domestic terrorist, Bill Ayers. Her campaign had to have been taken aback when she got the MSM treatment normally reserved for Republican candidates.

That is, the MSM’s famous “Cone of Silence” was placed over any news other than what came from the Obama campaign itself.

Everything on the Post Below is Hyperlinked to a site within the Chicago Democratic party archives, there is no conjecture, no guessing, The fact is that as recently as 1996 Senator Obama was an active member of the Chicago Democratic Socialist Party:

On their website the Democratic Socialist of America (DSA) has a description of their political perspective called Where We Stand. It says, in part,

We are socialists because we reject an international economic order sustained by private profit, alienated labor, race and gender discrimination, environmental destruction, and brutality and violence in defense of the status quo.

We are socialists because we share a vision of a humane international social order based both on democratic planning and market mechanisms to achieve equitable distribution of resources, meaningful work, a healthy environment, sustainable growth, gender and racial equality, and non-oppressive relationships.

At least according to its newsletter called the New Ground ,Senator Barack Obama attended at least a few meetings of the Chicago Chapter of this group in 1996. And from the way he was described in the newsletter he “talked the talk” and “walked the walk”
