Sarah Palin: Far Left French Foppery, Vampires, and Elitist Palin Attacks
The Far Left Whack Attack
Sarah Palin and the smear tactics she and her family have faced from certain individuals of the far left, namely ultra-liberal elitists and the MSM in the name of “fair gaming”, has some in the world of journalism taking note and distancing themselves from the modern day French Fops of the Far Left.
Tom Gross, a former Middle East correspondent for London’s Sunday Telegraph, writing for the NRO, points out some of the latest smears and rumors that have traveled like wildfire across cyberspace as well as print editions of some of the “venerable” newspapers such as the Washington Post. Gross points out just some of the smears and rumors which have spewed out from the Far Left, including the Washington Post’s Richard Cohen in an opinion piece, who compared Sarah Palin to Caligua’s horse. Gross pointed out the “outcry” if the paper had done the same to “any other” politician.
Richard Cohen, writing an opinion piece in the Washington Post made this pithy remark about Palin:
“One of the great sights of American political life — a YouTube moment if ever there was one — was to see the doughboy face of Newt Gingrich as he extolled the virtues of Sarah Palin, a sitcom of a vice presidential choice and a disaster movie if she moves up to the presidency: “She’s the first journalist ever to be nominated, I think, for the president or vice president, and she was a sportscaster on local television,” Gingrich said on the “Today” show. “So she has a lot of interesting background. And she has a lot of experience. Remember that, when people worry about how inexperienced she is, for two years she’s been in charge of the Alaska National Guard.”
It’s a pity Gingrich was not around when the Roman Emperor Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, better known by his nickname Caligula, reputedly named Incitatus as a consul and a priest. Incitatus was his horse.”
Interestingly enough Cohen’s smarmy hit-piece on Palin contains the same faux outrage as other elitists when he wrote about his “horror” when McCain nominated the Governor of Alaska:
“John McCain’s selection of Palin, which I first viewed with horror, could now be seen in a different light. Based on various television interviews over the Labor Day weekend — and a careful reading of the transcripts — it is possible that this is McCain’s attempt to make fools of his fellow Republicans. He has succeeded beyond all expectations.”
Why would Cohen be “horrified” when we’re quite aware Mr. Cohen and his cronies, who doth protest over Palin too much, would never deign to vote for a Republican.
Rather than show some class, any class, and admit he’d vote for an Obama, Al Gore, or John Kerry, versus any Republican, Cohen chose to take the road that runs under the metropolitan sewer system by trashing not only Sarah Palin but also the state of Alaska and Republicans. Cohen wasn’t content to tar and feather Palin when he stroked his overblown ego by tearing down the candidate of the opposing party, he went after the citizens of the state of Alaska who voted for Palin as their Governor as well as the entire Republican base.
Of course, Cohen’s missive was written purely for those within his own “circle”. The horror he claimed was truly “mock horror” to the pure delight of his audience. The comparison of Palin to Caligua and his horse, sure to get applause from the born-again French Fop audience, replete with temporary moles. The same crowd that jeered the French working class during the time of Marie Antoinette, Cohen and his “class” are the newest faux “nobles” on the block.
Cohen’s “working class” consists of individuals who “write” for a living, a far, far, more “noble” cause, than say, the “horrible” Sarah Palin, a woman who has, by her own hard work, been elected Governor of the state of Alaska. According to some far left elitists, Palin’s job is merely “child’s play” by a former beauty queen, one of the more kinder gentler “jabs” at Palin.
Palin has been denigrated by the Far Left for daring to be a mother who has a career with five kids. Silly us, we thought women libbers wanted women to “have it all”. Apparently to some Palin has no right to call herself a hockey mom because she “doesn’t have the time as Governor. Of course those who claim Palin isn’t a hockey mom are evidently too lazy to to do the math. Palin has been a mom for almost 20 years, well before she became a mayor or a Governor. Once a hockey mom, always a hockey mom, something the Far Left has absolutely no clue of.
Gross lays out more of the smears and nasty rumors against Sarah Palin and her family in in the NRO piece, How Dare She Be a Working Class Woman. Gross compares the dreaded McCarthy witch hunts of the 1950′s to the treatment of Palin by the Far Left, an irony that is perhaps lost on the participants who so eagerly claim Palin is “fair game”, down syndrome baby and all.
“I’m someone who shares the Left’s purported views on equal rights, and essentially agrees with them on issues such as abortion, gays, and gun control (though firmly disagreeing with them on bigger issues such as the economy, foreign policy, and helping spread democracy abroad). But it is precisely the kind of McCarthyite-style witchhunt we have witnessed in the past week against the Palins by the Left’s phony feminists and snooty media establishment that makes me and many others I know stay well clear of the Left.”
Rumors and smears are just another name for gossip mongering. Gossip mongers tear down others in order to make themselves feel better, or in this case, make themselves “look” better too. Unfortunately the upper tier of the Democratic party has surrendered to the Far Left, a much smaller voting block than the base. Palin’s nomination by McCain has had the same effect on the Far Left as that of Holy Water on a vampire, the amount of vitriol which has spewed forth before a wooden stake strikes home.
As in the case of Palin, the Far Left has reached a new low, personally attacking Palin and her children, all in the guise of “fair game” politics. Evidently “fair game” has a different connotation in the “other” America, a term coined and reinforced by former Presidential candidate Democrat John Edwards during the 2004 election.

Yawn. And I guess you were in the forefront when Hillary Clinton was the target of the right wing smear campaign. Or do I hear crickets?
I find it rather peculiar that when Sarah Palin was asked why she didn’t run for the Senate seat that was vacant in 2006, she said something to the effect that she couldn’t be “Team Mom” in Washington.
Sure, there are going to be left wing whack jobs, just like there are right wing partisan crazies.
But really, McCain invited much of this himself with his botched roll out. And now the lies keep coming. Guess they think the American people are really STOOPID!!!!
