As my father (who's been a union member for 50+ years said just the other day:

"The United States has one Vice President, our International has nine".

Jorge P: You seem to overlook that the Unions in this country have driven the jobs from this country. If the jobs stayed, and the unions got the pay they wanted, we couldn't afford to buy the products. Unions were helpful in counteracting the the robber barons from the early 20th century, but have gone way past the point where they are helping the workers. All they seem to help now is the Union leadership and the Democrat party.

We should just take the money from the Red Chinese like the Teamsters and Clintons did. Right? Middle America is not the liberal ground you assume. It is starting to learn the good of Unions is not in Hounding High Pay from an employer until that employer goes broke, or is forced to move somewhere they can make enough money to stay open.
Unions have over stepped their bounds.
All those nicely run union Strong places like Michigan, and Ney York show how much better a socialist style of governing works compared to a more responsible version.

Good morning everyone and Happy Labor Day To All. God bless our unions for making it possible to have a middle-class in America!

I understand that it does not much to excite a Republican: saying a few words like guns, revoke women's right, destroy public education, Fascism, etc., can make any Republican salivate like a dog hearing a dinner bell.

So of course I can understand why Republicans love this choice and it is typical for Republicans to FLIP-FLOP and spin an argument to defend the nomination of an inexperienced governor and the clouded judgement of McCain.

Truth is, Middle America get's it and Gov. Palin will do no good in convincing voters that her right-winged radical views will help America. Truth is if McCain is elected we will continue to reward big companies to export OUR jobs overseas, we will continue to borrow money from the Chinese, and instead of Bush brown noising the Saudi's it will be McCain.

Wow, talk about "Chage".

VOTE 4 OBAMA

love how this is being looked at through everyone's own version of Rose Colored Glasses.
He didn't pick her solely to attract jilted Hillary voters. It was a side benefit that some will be drawn to her.
She is also considered a Maverick. Yet, unlike McCain, she is very much a conservative and makes the ultra conservative base of the party very happy. The rest of the Base, and those like me with a libertarian bent are nearly as happy.
Her Maverick bona fides come from unseating a sitting Governor from her own party in a primary, beating a multi-term Dem in the Election, using her Line Item to kill waste, using her powers to Kill The Bridge To Nowhere. Her Senators are not her biggest fans, even though they are both in her party.
She knows true physical labor, helping with her husbands commercial fishing (So how many "Real" jobs have the others had? McCain included. . ) Pro Gun (Huntress? got my vote!!) and her obvious family strength will help a lot in Middle America.

No major screwups from McCain, Palin's seeming ability to handle herself very well, and the Obama/Biden penchant for gaffs, as well as the Electorate noticing Obama's Far Far Left views, and this election may well be Reaganeque in scale.

Experience?
Obama? no Executive, Palin has all three beat there, and there is a reason we tend not to elect Senators (Last one? anyone? yep)
Foreign Policy experience? Well her neighboring lands are Russia, and Canada, so she has had to deal a bit with them, and she's been to Iraq as often as Obama. And He's the top of the ticket, and his VP has never garnered more than 3% in a primary vote for President. His own party doesn't really want him in the office it seems.

Best part yet:
Change?
Change?
She fought the entrenched Political Machine from within it's own Party, and won.
Obama is the Chicago Political Machine's Candidate, and has fought to keep it's power entrenched.
Not much good change is going to come from a Political Machine like Daley's Corrupt Chicago Mafia, though he may cause a ton of change. It won't be the good kind.(redundant to make the point)

Palins name was bantied about in disscusions for VP or First Female President. Her drawbacks were not being in office long enough to become known to the people, and a wish for her to get some more Experience(though, again, Obama has far less real experience than she does). All goes well and she will be running in '12 at the earliest with 4 years of additional Executive office experience. So if Obama tried again she still has him beat there.
In a discussion of "Who Next?" on Mark Davis, Palin and Jindal were both "Dream Candidates" for '12 or '16 for several callers "Let Jindal clean up Louisiana, then let him do the same for DC" was heard as often as "After running Alaska for a bit more, Palin would be great against Hillary" (the premise was, McCain had picked a VP who was like Chaney...not willing to Run for POTUS, won, ran one term or possibly two, or Obama or Hillary was a one term winner and ruined things, and who would be next up for Office) tossed in with a few Micheal Steele fans, and J.C.Watts.

Strategic Thinker, you are not thinking very clearly.

I am your typical Hillary liberal (and I don't like Hillary much). I would never, in a million years, cross party lines to vote for a woman who doesn't believe in a woman's right to abortion even in cases of incest or rape. Palin also believes in creationism and that global warming doesn't exist. And she's a lifelong member of the NRA. She's embroiled in Troopergate and there are loud whispers that her husband has a "John Edwards" problem.

What Hillary liberal in their right mind would vote for this right wing nutjob? Please.

I think McCain is off his rocker, quite frankly.

Great choice for McCain.

Attractive, bright young woman that both pulls Hillary voters and counteracts his ancientness.

She outshines Obama, and a lot of liberals like myself will be torn.

McCain in the membrane...watch out because McCain is INSANE!

I don't understand McCain at all; he argues all summer long about Obama not having enough experience. Then, in a blink of an eye he chooses a running mate with no experience at all.

No disrepect to the State of Alaska, but we are talking about a state that has more reindeer than people. I can understand why Gov. Palin was chosen for the publicity, but she is clearly unqualified.

This only proves that McCain's judgement is clouded and has no clue.

Sorry Just Joe, it doesn't, because at 44, she has more executive experience than the rest, McCain included.
To make it simple, Obammy points and says "She has no experience!!" people look and say "Yeah, but it is still more than You do!"
In essence he picked a person with good standing, a list if real life accomplishments in a short time, and for all her "inexperience" is still far and away more qualified then the Top of the opposition's ticket.

Well, John McCain just picked a beautiful woman who has a little less than 2 years experience as Governor of Alaska.
He effectively just lost his biggest argument against Obama - that he is not ready to lead because he is not experienced enough.
So we can finally put that argument to rest.
Hopefully now it will just be on the issues.
John needed to choose someone who could step into the job of president and I frankly shudder at the thought of Sarah Palin as president.
That being said, my mother who would never vote for a woman in her life and has always voted just like my father, which is to say Republican, will at least be forced into voting for a woman Vice President.
The times they do be a changing!
Sarah Palin will appeal to his base, but she will irritate scores of women - at least that is my wifes take on it.
