I think when everything is known, the affair will be seen as the least of things. At least, that the way I see it.

I thought the REAL scandal was the non-investigation of the MSM prior to late July, even though they knew just as much (absent Edwards’ “confession”.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: Edwards is human and humans are frail. However, Edwards’ connection to the massive money the trial lawyers are pouring into American politics (and bundling, and for that, you can thank McCAin-Fiengold in my opinion) is a great way to let the average Joe see how elections are bought with blatant special interest money–by a group that not only games the system, but is ever watchful on how to further break the system for further gaming.

There’s a lot of special interests and I have no problems with most of them. I’m a free speecher and money is political speech. My opinion is: let everyone give what they want, but keep strict track of it and air it out so people know and can talk about it.

I don’t think hypocrisy and sex scandals are the property of any one party. There’s enough to go around for everyone.

You really DO have the legal right to cheat on your wife or girlfriend. There are plenty of societies, good societies, where such caddish behavior would NOT ruin your life as if we were in Victorian England (but even in VIctorian England, such behavior was not reviled so much unless it was admitted to publicly like Edwards did).

All Eunuch males in the USA need to realize that many men are NOT getting married precisely because it is most often the woman who INSISTS on gettting married…and then all the laws and apparently our male journalists and bloggers will hold him to a much harsher standard if he wants to be a little polygamous than if he had NOT done the woman a favor by marrying her.

Guys, it doesn’t make sense to get married if you think like this. Why is Gay Marriage OK but polygamy not OK?

What Edwards did was to practice a little polygamy.

Now don’t slam me for being less moral than you which is probably entirely not the case.

I am just saying that ANY Libertarian needs to STFU about sexual morality, PERIOD.

I do NOT want to hear about this. I am NOT amused that LIBERAL politiicians in 2008 are more sensitive and intolerant about this than ever before.

If you do not like Edwards for his policies, fine, but his private life really is no concern of mine…unless he got laws passed allowing women to unfairly milk their husbands in a divorce.

Wait a minute….Edwards DID help get laws passed unfairly allowing women more power than men to cheat and make fake charges in divorce cases.

Never Mind. This guy is fair game.

McCain’s been a cad, but hasn’t to anyone’s knowledge fathered a baby and tried covering it up.

We’ve written about McCain’s loutishness–though it occurred years ago. It probably won’t be the last time.

However, Edwards only admitted his affair 3 weeks ago. He continues to deny and lie about it. The comparison between McCain and Edwards, while valid in a few respects, isn’t a very good one.

But keep trying.

They both share a history of cheating on their wives while the wives were already going through physical ordeals. I believe that McCain made a real practice of skirt chasing, but he has his stock excuse for every shabby thing he has done since he was a prisoner of war. I’m sorry he was a prisoner of war. The whole country is sorry that he was a prisoner of war. But when is he going to take responsibility for his shabby behavior? And is he the guy who complained that Americans were a bunch of “whiners”? Phew!
