UPDATE: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&sid=awNnIkEpJrVo
Baron Receives Biogen Drug After Clinton Appeals (Update1)

By Laurence Viele Davidson and Bob Van Voris

Oct. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Fred Baron, the former finance chairman of John Edwards's presidential campaign, received a Biogen Idec Inc. drug to treat his blood cancer after pleas by former President Bill Clinton and athlete Lance Armstrong.

Biogen had refused to give Tysabri to Baron, saying it wanted to avoid jeopardizing other patients' access to the drug. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration worked with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where Baron is being treated, to seek a solution, FDA spokeswoman Karen Riley said earlier today.

``Thanks to the persistence and hard work of so many friends, Fred has received Tysabri,'' Baron's wife, Lisa Blue, said in an e-mailed statement. ``The Mayo Clinic working with the FDA found a legal basis for this use. We have every expectation of a positive result.''

"It breaks my heart if this is going to disqualify him from being a public servant, because he would be a great one.”

No he wouldn't. And no he wasn't. John Edwards was a mediocre, at best, one term senator.

He could never be a great public servant precisely because he's such an outstanding self servant.

And now he's won the title "Uber-Douche-Bad-for-Life" He earned it.

Jane,

No one but the Enquirer knows for sure, but I would look for more (baby) shoes to drop in the next 24-48 hours from the National Enquirer.

Wow. The thing I can't help wondering is how long will the Youngs be able to do this? How will they ever be able to maintain their equalibrium? One of baron's statements intimated there were no agreements in place for this arrangement. If that is the case, I would think the Young's could shop the story for a wad, book rights, movies, a Lifetime mini-series, something anything and get out from under the burden of this LIE... When does the Natl Enquirer release more info?
