Global Warming: An Issue of Race

It’s extraordinarily painful to listen to politicians stumble through any topic that requires specialised knowledge or even a remote familiarity with the subject. It appears that most have a conclusion first, then attempt to justify it regardless of reality. The disconnect would be humorous, if it was not serious, because these dolts have power. It’s sort of like chuckling with the surgeon who took out the wrong kidney.

Here is one such case.

House Majority Whip: Climate Change Hurts Blacks More

This jackass is not joking. As we know in identity politics, everything in the world disproportionately affects blacks badly. So it merely remained for this fellow to ask his learned staff to find out how.

According to the Business and Media Institute, “climate change is no longer just an environmental issue. It’s now an issue of race, according to global warming activists and policy makers”:

“It is critical our community be an integral and active part of the debate because African-Americans are disproportionately impacted by the effects of climate change economically, socially and through our health and well-being,” House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., said July 29.”

Clyburn then attempts to helpfully explain this idiocy, first making sure we all know that African-Americans in no way contributed to “Global Warming”.

“Though far less responsible for climate change, African-Americans are significantly more vulnerable to its effects than non-Hispanic whites,” the report says. “Health, housing, economic well-being, culture, and social stability are harmed from such manifestations of climate change as storms, floods, and climate variability.”

“African-Americans are also more vulnerable to higher energy bills, unemployment, recessions caused by global energy price shocks, and a greater economic burden from military operations designed to protect the flow of oil to the U.S,” it says.

The commission Clyburn helped launch claims Hurricane Katrina’s impact on New Orleans was a preview of how global warming will affect African-Americans.

Aha! Nothing about the idiot Democratic politicians who fiddled for four days while Katrina targeted New Orleans. Nothing about the the fact that it was idiocy to build a city underwater in a Hurricane prone area. And nothing about the fact that Katrina was in every respect a typical Hurricane, with no causal connection with global warming, which by the way, would cause a decrease in Hurricanes, contrary to what the Commission staff believes.

So how, pray tell, are white and Oriental Americans to rid themselves of this guilt? The answer’s simple: (For a moment I thought we would have to live in shame). We must be taxed.

“The report suggested implementing a “fee, tax or allowance auction on polluters,” which was meant to “eliminate the financial burden on low-income and moderate-income households. This would pay for efforts to reduce global warming. Hoerner said that although it would cause product costs to increase, under his policy, the revenue from the “fee, tax, or allowance auction payment” would be redistributed to consumers to offset the higher costs.”

There you have it. Tax the polluters and give the money to African-Americans. Wonderful. The list of polluters will no doubt be every company in America, with a special assessment for the Al Gore residence.

This would be laughable if it were not so dangerous. And with the world in a 10-year cooling cycle, no doubt Clyburn would maintain that his idea is already bearing fruit.
